Kim knows that I have never listened to an audiobook either. I also fear the voice ruining the book, but also I wonder if I would space out and not be able to really listen to it. If I drove a lot (like my husband does), I could totally see myself loving an audiobook in the car.

Yes, you should definitely read it anyway, and then we can talk about it either way.
(view spoiler)[ I felt the same way about Disco too. The name probably didn't help. But their relationship was probably my least favorite part of the story. In a genre overwhelmed with sexy vampires, he just didn't stand out. (hide spoiler)]

You go like this <.spoiler> The stuff you want to say <./spoiler> Except without the periods, but I had to add them so they would show up. Then, when you post it, it will show up as a link.

The difference in age added a much needed glimpse of what..."Yeah, too rarely is one of my praises "I enjoyed the romance". More often, it's the problem.

We can spoiler! Just tag it, so people know in case it shows up on their homepage or they enter the thread. I bought a used copy of book 2 from Amazon.

I didn't like the ending so much... [spoilers removed]"The better dressed Johnny Depp...I like that!
I felt the same way about the ending. Also, I don't like it when I can guess how it ends, and there were two obvious ways this could have gone down...
(view spoiler)[ either her parents were behind the entire thing or she was right, and the rival group framed them (hide spoiler)]. I think I needed it to be more complex. I needed my mind blown.
I did really like Lon and Jupe, I enjoyed the romance, and I thought her take on demons rocked. And Lon got super hot when he grew those horns.

Book 2 though.... :|

And, adversely, I guess we should have somewhere to talk about our all-time favorite characters.
Chess Putnam (Downside Ghosts) is my #1
Charley Davidson (Charley Davidson) is my #2
Shadow (American Gods) is my #3
After that, a lot of the Fever characters come to mind (Dani, Ryodan, V'lane, and Barrons).

So I was thinking, as I was reading Nikki Glass last night and hating Emma, that we should have a place to vent about the characters that drive us absolutely crazy. It can be because you hate them or just hate all the lousy decisions they make, either way. But here are some of mine:
Emma (Nikki Glass): She's the epitome of psycho-girlfriend and I won't stand for it.
Justina Crawfield (Night Huntress): She may be my number one. You know, Cat's mom. She drove me absolutely insane. I was almost literally pulling my hair out when I had to read the things that came out of her mouth. I would have ditched her a long time ago. Cat's a far better daughter than I.
Stick (Blood of Eden): This is actually a YA UF trilogy, but one of the few I've enjoyed. But there's this kid known as Stick and he might be the worst ever. He's a leech; incapable of living self-sufficiently and has no qualms about sacrificing the people that have kept him alive. I hope this kid gets drained in book 3.

They're always in the romance section! lol. So annoying!

Thus far, I really like it. It just gave me nightmares, haha :) And I do like Jupe a lot.

This one is kind of scaring me.

And the "I don't need any help, I'm fearless" thing is particularly ridiculous when the chapter before they were all fancy and sunshiney and oblivious to the existence of whatever danger they are now running into.

lol! I know you do!

Spoilers for everything
(view spoiler)[ I really liked, but not quite loved, this one. It was very engaging; I appreciated her writing and it kept me interested the whole time. Yeah, the story was really interesting. However, I wasn't consumed by the romance or anything, and while I enjoyed Rhiannon (who's almost cool enough to be a Charley Davidson/Chess hybrid), I wasn't particularly enamored with any of the characters. Maybe Paine. And personally, I get annoyed by the whole virgin thing and I wish they wouldn't have thrown that one in there. But I mean really, it was that ending. That MADE the book for me. I mean, throw some TIME TRAVEL and a dystopian vampire future in there, really? Time travel makes me drool. Definitely wouldn't have expected that. I'm ordering the next two books immediately. WHY isn't this an ebook? I can't even handle that I got that preview of book 2 and now I have to wait for it. (hide spoiler)]

Alberta wrote: "I dislike intensly books with covers of so called sexy looking characters - puts me off - a) because i don't want sexy unless of course I am choosing erotica!
b) I just have the feeling it is yet..."Yeah, honestly...most UF covers are pretty bad. It does seem like it's always someone under-dressed in a provocative pose. They could definitely step it up.

Discuss. Tag spoilers. Like I can be all like 'I'm on chapter 6 and
(view spoiler)[ hello! (hide spoiler)]'. And then everyone knows that if they haven't read up to chapter 6, I'm about to ruin something for them.
