I just realized I have The Hero With a Thousand Faces by Joseph Campbell, he seems to come up a lot in discussions on mythology and folklore:)

I just saw this message, Chrissie. Yes, the "essays", if you can call them that are really short, more like paragraphs in fact. Still, it's interesting if not in depth.
