Please post your reviews so we can support one another. I started a new thread for 2021 as the old one was getting a little unwieldy.
Final tally, we've accomplished 66% of our goal. I think that's pretty good considering 2020 was a challenge in itself.Start Date: January 01, 2020
End Date: December 31, 2020
Total goal for all participants: 1,429 books
957 of 1,429 (66%)
Average goal for all participants: 79 books
Total challenges completed: 5
People Participating: 18
Rai (2019) Book 2 ★★★★The best comic Valiant is currently publishing.
The Ballad of Yaya Book 7: The Trap ★★★★Part Manga, Part Tintin. Yaya gets amnesia and goes off with her kidnapper to Hong Kong.
The Ballad of Yaya Book 8: The Return ★★★★This Manga influenced French comic is strangely enthralling.
The Ballad of Yaya Book 9: Sonata ★★★Yaya's story comes to a close even though there's not much closure.
CULLEN BUNN OMNIBUS ALL MY LITTLE DEMONS: An AfterShock Library of Tales ★★★A massive tome of most of Cullen Bunn's work at Aftershock.
Bad Reception ★★The queen of social media and her fiancee get married on a remote island where they decide to take everyone's phone away. Of course, now that everyone is stuck on the island, a killer starts murdering everyone in the reverse order of their social media presence.
War on Terror: Godkillers ★★★A cool idea about ISIS using mythological creatures in warfare that ultimately reaches too close to the sun for a 5 issue series.
Alexander wrote: "Oof, telephone numbers, that's a shitty one.. glad I never added mine."Why would anyone give NG their phone number? I wouldn't even give them access to my GR account.
The Sacrifice of Darkness ★★A romance set in a coal mining town with the occasional spaceship available for snuffing out the sun. It's almost comical how bad the world building and science is in this book.
Bonnie wrote: "Thanks for the heads up. Since I have Twitter, Goodreads, and LinkedIn connected to Netgalley, I'm changing those passwords too. And my blog on Wordpress. So this happened on Monday and we find out..."That's actually a REALLY good turn around time. A lot of times companies go weeks without even being aware that they were breached.
Just logged into NetGalley and got this message:It is with great regret that we inform you that on Monday, December 21, 2020 NetGalley was the victim of a data security incident. I advise everyone to go and change your NetGalley password ASAP.
The Neil Gaiman Library Volume 2 ★★★★A bunch of Neil Gaiman's short stories brought to life by some wonderful artists.
PamG wrote: "I have a couple of suggestions. Can you create the What's on your January 2021 TBR list? thread and archive the November 2020 one?
Can you archive the July 2020 Chit-Chat?
What do you think of archiving the Reviews folder in early January and creating a 2021 Reviews folder by Jan. 1?"
Pam,
Your first 2 suggestions are done. I planned on archiving the Reviews thread and starting a new one in Jan. If I get sidetracked and forget, please remind me next weekend.
Critical Role: Vox Machina Origins Library Edition ★★★★★This was great. A fantasy adventure with lots of hijinks and humor.
