I am currently reading 'Expat Alien: My Global Adventures' by Kathleen Gamble really a lot of info about many different countries and their culture, that she visited and lived in.
I love about every sub-genre of thriller.Medical, like The Hot Zone,Demon In The Freezer, and Coma,Sci-Fi,Political,Conspiracy,Crime.What are yours and some of those you have read?
Hi all,It's so funny that I think I am one of the absolute worst armchair detectives, yet lately I find myself reading more mysteries, lol!
I'm looking forward to starting the (Regan Reilly) humorous mystery series by Carol Higgins Clark.
I prefer the Cozy type, and especially enjoy those with a humorous touch, and suggestions for crime mysteries that don't include murder would be very much appreciated, also, like stolen relics, heirlooms, ect.
Hi everyone,I apologize for not being active here lately, but I just got burned out on reading only romance and have been reading more in other genres.I should have made this group 'clean non religious reading',instead of just romance, because I do enjoy most genres, including nonfiction. If I find a way to change the name of my group, don't be surprised if that happens, lol!
There are very few books that anyone else has added to the bookshelves, and I hope more members will add books.
Happy Reading !
Just finished Waterfall: A Novel (River of Time Series) by Lisa T. Bergren ,which is a time-travel YA romance, that was great. Can't wait to read Book #2 Cascade:A Novel.
Soph wrote: "Oh dear! Shame you didn't like it, I am currently reading it and I am enjoying it so far."Glad that you are enjoying it.I really don't enjoy stories that are full of ANGST,misery and/or unlikeable people, and it seems sooooo many have those kind of stories anymore. I kind of expect it in nonfiction, but I don't want it in my fiction.I read fiction for escapism from the trials of life,so I don't want to read tales of woe, lol!
Seems almost impossible these days to find a delightful, lighthearted tale like Edenbrooke was,so I have to keep looking, since 'Seems Like Old Times' was just another failure! :(
I just finished Blackmoore:A Proper Romance by Julianne Donaldson. Hated it!It was a shocking disappointment compared to Edenbrooke- the first book by this author. The first book was a total joy to read,light-hearted,sweet and fun.Blackmoore is the total opposite, depressing, total ANGST from the first page to about the last 25 pages.Absolutely no romance or physical attraction until those last few pages, which I despise in a so-called ROMANCE!Except for the two leads and the younger Mr. Brandon, the characters are hateful/detestable people.I could kick myself for wasting the time to finish it,because it most certainly is not worth finishing!
Avoid this one and read something else!
I'm thinking Seems Like Old Times by Joanne Pence next.
Hi Annette and Welcome!Sorry, to be late responding. My daughter got me hooked on Pinterest, and now I can't stop myself from spending my online time 'pinning' stuff to my boards,LOL!
Your book sounds like a good one,and I wish you much success.:]
Ginny wrote: "I hear ya...when I first joined Pinterest that's all I could do as well! It is addicting. North Idaho is beautiful...I am further north up in Bonners Ferry but I've been to Kellogg several times!"Oh I'm not familiar with your area.My dad was in the Air Force and stationed at the base in Spokane,WA. when I was born, but my mom's mom and dad lived in Kellogg, and through the years had family, there and Post Falls, plus Montana and WY.So that is where we went on vacations. My dad[from Wisconsin] loved the area so much that is where he retired[Spokane].I do think the pacific NW is the most beautiful part of America besides Hawaii.
Hi Ginny, and Welcome! Sorry it's taken me days to get back to you,my daughter just got me hooked on Pinterest,so I haven't even been reading! I need Pintervention, haha!I see you live in northern Idaho. I was born in Kellogg,Idaho.Beautiful area.
Thank you for adding to our bookshelf and best wishes for success with your writing. :]
omg,I started Pride's Prejudice and I'm loving it,so much that I will not be waiting until this evening to get back to it.I will be finishing it today!
I know what you mean,I cannot wait for Donaldson's next book either! No I'm afraid the synopsis of those titles don't really grab me,but thank you for trying.:)
I'm thinking of starting
that I just got as a Kindle freebie yesterday. Also since I really enjoyed "Mrs. Drew Plays Her Hand" by Carla Kelly I want to reserve her 'Reforming Lord Ragsdale' at my library.
I can't believe my excellent library doesn't own a single copy of any book by Sarah Eden!
I just called them because I couldn't find any on their online catalog,so the lady I talked to is going to see about having the ones I want~Seeking Persephone,The Kiss of a Stranger: A Regency Romance, and Friends and Foes added to their collection, since they have none, unless she can track them down through the ILLS.
Ok sorry to say but I just couldn't get into the story or any of the characters so I gave up.:(Can't believe that I forgot that I tried to read it back in June and wasn't able to get into it. My 'old-timers' kickin in, lol!
Have you read anything else similar to your recommendation of
?I totally loved that one. :]
Wow,I started it a week ago and haven't finished yet! It is extremely slow going, and I was not engaged at all for the first eight chapters! Far too much talk of religion and non interesting things,so I put it down and played computer games. I did a lot of skimming forward in those eight chapters so probably missed it,but never did discover why her father had to quit being a pastor. Finally in chapter eight John Thornton makes his first appearance! I was only able to read to chapter 10 and my Kindle needed recharging last night! Will let you know probably tomorrow[I mostly read in the evenings] if I'm liking it better now. :]
I read many different genres besides romance.Right now I am reading an Amish fiction that I borrowed for my Kindle. When I am finished I am going to start North And South by Elizabeth Gaskell which is highly recommended by a member of this group~Soph. Can't say how Lord Sayer's Ghost was because I got so bored with it that I didn't finish it.Then I read some historical fiction.
Hello Gabriella, and welcome to the group.I hope you find some titles to enjoy here, and feel free to leave your reviews of those that you read.Happy Reading! :]
Hi Angela,My that certainly is different! i have been surprised by getting an earlier non Christian edition of an author's book, but never knew of one who deliberately writes the clean, and explicit version together, LOL!
Please keep us informed about her books.
I have been trying some of Debbie Macomber's books but they have not been clean enough to add to the bookshelves.
Right now I'm reading Lord Sayer's Ghost by Cindy Holbrook which is a fun Gothic Mystery and so far it is clean.
