message 203: by Dirk (new)

Dirk I will start the second part of Patrick Rothfuss the King Killer Chronicles. The first part made me aware that you can write 600 pages without any big action. But on every 10th page there is some change wich will force you to read ahead. A realy great book. Also I will read The Roadduring my pentecoast holidays. Sitting on the beach of Sardenia and leaving my feet in the shores to cool down.

Hey Linda here's one from me:

The Neverending Story by Michael Ende- A Pretty good and Fantastical Story about a young boy named Bastien who tries to save a mysterious and mystical world from destruction.

message 205: by The Book Chief (last edited May 29, 2017 10:28AM) (new)

The Book Chief I just finished The North Water and although it might be perceived as a 'winter read,' the escapism to a world of murder and brutality within the Arctic Circle was thrilling to read. I rank it up there with John Williams 'Butcher's Crossing.'

Speaking of Circles, I loved Dave Eggers 'The Circle' a few years ago. I read it on the beach in Portugal and found it to be a relevant thriller of our times. The Emma Watson film comes out pretty soon so its always good to read the book first!

Cintia Benozir wrote: "Anyone knows how I can download classic children's books in PDF form?"

Try this: http://ebook.bike/
http://www.freebookspot.es/Default.aspx
http://ebooksinepub.com/book/

That's not PDF, it's Epub, but you can convert it here: http://documento.online-convert.com/e...

You just upload the file you will download from one of the sites, and click convert, and voila!

message 207: by Panu (new)

Panu Mäkinen The summer is short in Finland. I don’t know which day it will be this year. One short book is enough for that purpose.

message 208: by Phineas (new)

Phineas Got a seemingly valuable book onto My Books, but find no way to actually start reading it. Clicking on the title takes me to a nice summary, with various things to click upon, none of which produces the text of the book. There is no Help entry on this rather basic function. Help, anyone?

Linda Judd I saw the movie of Neverending Story, loved the story,
was the book as well written?

message 232: by MaskedSkull (new)

MaskedSkull I live in Mexico very close to California.
Well, summer it's almost here... but for now we have many cold days with warm days in between for some weird reason :/ for me that's PERFECT. I prefer winter over summer.

Don't like sweating and feel all my skin burning because of the heat.

Actually reading the Witcher saga, but maybe I'll check some from the summer reading lists~

Happy reading~

Un saludo a todos los hispanohablantes y paisanos, espero pasen un agradable "verano" con felices lecturas <3

MaskedSkull Linda wrote: "I saw the movie of Neverending Story, loved the story,

The book is way better!

The movie doesn't do justice to it (at least I can say it was gorgeous and tried to explore a tiny bit of the world but with some changes of course, very close to the original story so it's a great presentation) :/ but really, besides that, it's the purest and most beautiful book I've ever read, I can't recommend it enough to everyone. Must-Read material.

message 234: by Denise (new)

Ana Cruz Dirk wrote: "We are just starting with summer, here in southern germany. On the weekend we had about 26degree outside."
Here in the south-west of Europe I am in a country with 943 Km of wolderfull beaches, good to read all the books you want. 26 degrees celcius is spring around here. In the summer we usually have near 40. Good reads wherever you are.

Lisa - HowlBeSatReading 🐺 Its a sweltering 29 degrees in Southampton, England, and the whole country has gone into meltdown because we aren't used to it and people don't understand that keeping cool means, plenty of NON ALCOHOLIC drinks, sunblock and avoid 12-2pm! Instead its, burn me, lets have twenty beers and sizzle. And they wonder why they get heatstroke! Only in Britain eh?! Ha!

message 242: by Linda (last edited Jun 21, 2017 06:35AM) (new)

Linda Judd I've started reading an anthology by one of my favorite authors Charlaine Harris, Crimes by Moonlight. She's rounded up her friends from Mystery Writers of America to write up a bunch of Mysteries from the Dark Side. Reading these stories is like eating a sweet chocolate mousse! Delicious and oh so smooth.

message 243: by Sam (new)

Can't decide what to read next! :)

Meg It's been a cool Summer here in the middle of Canada. I haven't been able to get out and actually experience the "heat" of Summer yet. Rain, strong winds, and dreary days. Not super Summer-y.
