Exactly, pretty sure Goodreads is used by people in both the northern and southern hemispheres, which makes it coming into Winter here in Oz!

message 16: by Sandra (new)

Sandra Yep, nearly winter here in Aus, but I'm still in tshirts, cause this is the hottest autumn we've ever had in Sydney, according to the records. It's 24 here today :)

message 17: by Lauri (new)

Lauri Saplad It's almost always summer in Hawaii! Looking forward to some beach reads... Fluffy chick-lit, vampires, werewolves and demons, oh my!

message 19: by Linda (last edited May 22, 2017 10:43PM) (new)

Linda Judd I just finished reading Stephen King's memoir, "On Writing". He mentioned some authors and books that I'd like to read to further explore his thoughts on writing.

Is that Celsius or Fahrenheit?

There are only three countries that don't currently use the metric system, and Germany isn't one of them. Also, 26 degrees Celsius is warm for sure; definitely summer weather.

message 23: by Frank (new)

Frank Becker Linda wrote: Is that Celsius or Fahrenheit?
Germany isn't THAT far north... ;-D

message 24: by Linda (new)

Linda Judd 26 Celsius is 78.8 Fahrenheit, so, yes I agree that's warm! I'm in California. We're having the same weather right now.

message 25: by Caroline (last edited May 23, 2017 12:16AM) (new)

Caroline Another one for winter in Oz - it's a shame we didn't have a summer reading list for those of us in the other hemisphere. Although I have to say that I tend to read more in winter than summer anyway ... long, dark nights, colder days spent inside, and so on. Admittedly, it doesn't get all that cold just north of Coffs Harbour. Still, a winter reading list would suit me. ;)

Jek C. wrote: "It's always summer in Honduras lol."

Anne-Kathrine Dirk wrote: "We are just starting with summer, here in southern germany. On the weekend we had about 26degree outside."

Same here in Denmark. Finally we got some warm weather and sunshine. It has been so cold this spring :( so much that it almost felt like summer would never come...

Dulce Janet Arelis wrote: "It's winter in Chile."

Lmao, this made me laugh. I never thought about how annoying must be for the south hemisphere that viral media focuses mainly on the seasons in the northern hemisphere.

I bet you guys get a lot of "Christmas in summer?? that's crazy"

As a northern bird I say, I hope you enjoy some good books in this summer-winter season!

It is quite annoying (we're half the world, maybe not the most populated, but still, you're ignoring us!), but you get used to it.

message 32: by Angela (new)

Angela It's so cool to hear from all around the world! Hello from China! Summer's also just arriving for us here. :)

message 33: by Kassandra (new)

Coke propagandas are the best, Take a look at that ad in Brazil: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EazRE...

1) Snow in Brazil
2) In summer
3) Heavily clothed Santa

We swallow without asking all the north hemisphere way of life. Christmas is just one of the things who got nothing to do with our culture.

Enrique wrote: "In Bogota, Colombia we are in summer, winter, spring and fall all the time :V"
Dude winter is basically rain....so pretty much all you get is Spring and Summer

message 45: by Lisa (new)

Lisa Howard always love my summer reading

message 46: by Cres (new)

Cres I imagine it is frustrating, but my guess is that the fact Goodreads is a US based company and roughly 88 percent of the world lives in the Northern Hemisphere they figured they would go with the best odds.

Would be interesting to have something like a "Hemispherically Challenged Reading Week" where the site highlights authors from our southern neighbors..... And J/K, know you aren't challenged.
