Announcing the Goodreads Android App!
Download the Goodreads Android app now! »
We heard you! Due to overwhelming popular demand, we've developed a new app for all you Android aficionados out there. Wander through the stacks of your local library or peruse the shelves of your favorite bookstore while simultaneously browsing Goodreads reviews. The next time you are deciding what to read, your to-read list will be handy. We're excited to make Goodreads more mobile and easier to access, and we will continue to add fun features for Android fans!
This initial version of the Android app offers:
- Check updates from your friends and those you follow
- Read friend reviews and community reviews of any book
- Manage your bookshelves
- Search our catalog of more than 8 million books
- View your profile and browse your shelves
- Find book recommendations from friends and other readers
If you own an Android device, we hope that you will give the Goodreads app a whirl. We welcome feedback, so please rate and review the app! (For iPhone users, we have an app for you too!)

YAH!!!!!
Hooray, hooray, hooray! Have it for my Nook Color and my Evo - just what I wanted. :) It's a great start. One wish list item: I'd like to be able to see the % progress made on a book when I update how many pages I've read. Simply delighted to have it, though. Thanks again, Goodreads!
i have android v2.2 (Froyo) and i download and install the application fast! u have to switch on 3G because with 2G it doesnt work - i mean it doesnt load at all!still i had some bugs and i had to refresh it evertime it shows me a white screen! over all its not that bad its fine even that the thing that it misses beside those bugs with the white screens is the notifications : i cant see when someone comment me in my profile or comment in reading status.. over all is good
Christine wrote: "Is Android 1.5 not supported? I was able to download the app but it force closes every time I try to open it."Christine, I verified the crashes on 1.5, sorry about that. We did a quick review about 1.5 just now, there are a number of problems with no immediate solution. Android 1.6 is definitely supported, hopefully your phone can be upgraded?
Thank you for your response, Ettore. Unfortunately I own a Motorola Cliq XT which, after eight months of Motorola stringing us along by promising an upgrade, they decided to keep the Cliq XT on v1.5.So am I completely out of luck?
Ettore wrote: "Actually, we'll try to fix it."Thank you thank you thank you! It's so nice that you guys are at least going to try rather than leave me in the dust like so many other app developers.
Even if it's unsuccessful just know I appreciate your willingness to include us lowly 1.5 users :)
I love it! <333 I use my android for everything already and this app is much easier to manage then the website is from my phone. I'm already completely hooked! Thank you!!!
YAY! I'm very very happy for this app. I've already downloaded it to my Android phone and it is very easy to use. Thank you so much.
Ettore wrote: "We have a fix for android 1.5, we'll release it in the next few days."You guys are my HEROES!
woo hoo! my only wish: any way you can implement a barcode scanner? The app i use, that's the feature i use the most, to enter a new book when I get it :)
About groups and barcode scanner: they are definitely planned features, but I don't have an exact date for when we'll implement them. Probably in a couple months...
The Android Goodreads application doesn't allow passwords longer than 20 characters yet my Goodreads password is 25 characters long making it impossible for me to log in with the app.
Looks good, but unfortunately cannot use it on my Nokia. Hope the apps will be developed for other Phone OS's too after the success of the Iphone and Android apps. :)
Please consider the following scenario for your next app update.:: I am a new member of Goodreads.
I have hundreds, perhaps thousands, of books to add. I want to add an entire batch of books at once.
:: I want to tell the app that I'm entering an entire batch via scanned ISBN codes, offline.
:: I expect the app to loop through exactly two landscape-mode screens. One is the scanner itself. The other has thumb-friendly buttons for "Scan Next", "Bad Scan; Repeat", and "Finished".
:: Only when a batch is finished do I need an Internet connection. When I click a menu command for "Upload this batch", my previously stored account settings take care of all the details.
:: When I see a "Batch Uploaded" message, I can start another batch, or (of course) jump to other app features.
That's it. What I certainly do not want is a tedious repetition of single-book actions, with lots of superfluous clicks, uploads, displays, and menus.
Very happy to hear about this but sad it is only available through the market (that I can see.) Would love to install it on my android tablet ereader - will we have to wait for Honeycomb?
just installed it :D although i can recommend "MyBookDroid" aswell, it is compatibel with goodreads.com
