I was looking for my son for a book that would address the pain full subject. He is a young history buff and wants to read more about that.

message 206: by Michelle (new)

Michelle I have so many Summer books i can't wait to read and am having trouble choosing which one to start with: Malibu Rising/Taylor Jenkins Reid or Golden Girl/Elin Hilderbrand or That Summer/Jennifer Weiner.

Whichever one i start with it will be amazing and just like Summer it will go by quickly!

You are not the only. Mood and time constraints (does it have to be back at the library soon?) are what are determinative for me!

I usually don't play what to read ahead of time, but I recently bought some books that I haven't been able to read because I've been so busy with school.
Usually, I'll get some books from a library, but the 2 libraries around me are closed because of COVID, so anything I want to read, I have to buy.

Annatasia Meehleder The Twilight Saga and Midnight Sun.

message 220: by Will (new)

Will Byrnes My Summer Reading recommendation is a mystery and a love story. Catriona Silvey’s Meet Me in Another Life gives us two characters caught in a time loop, trying to figure out how they got there, how they can get out, and what it all means. It is a compelling, thoughtful read that will get your axons firing and your heart breaking. Is their connection star-crossed or made in heaven?

Planning your reading and sticking to it is not a concept that appeals to me. After all you just might come across that book you just have to read now and there goes your whole scheduled reading. I have a list of books I want to read, on my TBR shelf. That is about as far as I go with planning my reading. However just because something isn't on that shelf doesn't mean I won't pick it up to read. I've come across a site where I can read a lot of the old Sexton Blake Libraries, so who's to say I might just sit down with one of those. Of course I have to do that inside, so if it is a nice warm day and I want to be outside won't be reading those. Moving the computer not in the cards.

message 225: by Sonja (new)

I am the same way. No planning whatsoever. In fact, I don't like to plan what I'm going to read because something else may "jump inline".

message 227: by Karolien (new)

Karolien De Jaeger Maral wrote: "for this summer, i've got a plan to read the lord of the ring books and Hobbit! and i'm really excited :)"

I've read them like 30 years ago, long before the movies were made (which I never saw) and I liked the bookes very very much. In my imagination, it was less dark than the movies, more like a joyful adventure

message 230: by Jimin'sRamenNoodles (last edited Jun 14, 2021 12:26PM) (new)

Jimin'sRamenNoodles (Jinlo) I'd add Bias to the list also. She's a debut author that is gaining ratings pretty quickly, because Korean Popculture (K-pop) is taking off pretty quickly all around the world. People seem to really love this K-pop book in particular.
Bias by Lucy Gold

message 231: by Debby (last edited Jun 15, 2021 11:13AM) (new)

Debby I started the summer with Connie Suttle's God Wars series. I know that I will continue with the other series: First Ordinance, R-D, Latter Day Demons, SaaThalarr ... in short all those that surround the world of Mrs. Suttle and Lissa in Blood Destiny God Wars Series: Boxed Set

message 232: by Amy (new)

Amy My summer reading will be my current obsession with Series. I’m totally loving different series. Anywhere from the crime in the Colorado mountains to Christie like parties in Gilded manor houses in the English Countryside.
I especially loved a series with murders and crime this ear the Agatha Raisen series. I do not know what happened now the author Marianne passed away. The other was one of her nome de plumes she. The David Wolf books by Jeff Carson are great right now. This is my current reading Series . Mildly like the Jack Reacher books or Bourne. Wolf is a softer easier version. These are just a couple of series I will be continuing into Summer. I’ll also find others! I use a helpful site which shows books in series in all different genres to look around in. Have a great summer reading everyone!

message 235: by Addie2009 (new)

Addie2009 I like to read something intense and something light - right now switching back & forth between Lisa Scottline's "Eternal" (got the book when it was released but trying to savor it since I'm sure it's a wonderful read and already so not looking forward to finishing it) and Mary Balogh's "Somebody To Love" (kind of a Bridgerton-type novel series).

message 246: by Marie (UK) (new)

Marie (UK) Your quote
See the titles our site's most ambitious readers

ambition is relative just because a reader read a particular book does not make them the most ambitious. I have read some of these but also many others that don't feature. Reading is an individual relationship with books for many
