One fro the Money is a necessary entrance to the Stephanie Plum series, but I thought Two for the Dough was much better, as are several of the subsequent books--hilariously so.
I just finished The Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown. It was great. I am so glad that Lisa Jablonsky chose it. Also, Priscilla S. Guido chose Inferno by Dan Brown and Origin by Dan Brownthe next ones I want to read in the Robert Langdon!

I can't believe Attica Locke's books weren't on the list! They are some of my favorite for their plot, character development, cinematic noir atmosphere, and great writing. Heaven My Home Locke's most recent book was really fantastic. And of course, two classic writers: Chester Himes and Walter Mosley whose Easy Rawlins series remains one of my favorite mystery series.

It's amazing what some people consider "mysteries" To rank Dan Brown novels above those of P.D. James Adam Dalgliesh series or Ruth Rendell's Inspector Wexford series is a travesty. I pity the readers who haven't experienced the pleasures of fine literary genre fiction.
