Read More Books in 2020 with the Goodreads Reading Challenge!
It's that time of year when people make New Year's resolutions to cut back on things they like (farewell, cookies, gluten, and wine!) and start doing things that might not be fun (ugh—hello, working out and counting calories).
But don't worry, there's a better way! Why not start 2020 by vowing to make more time for something you truly love? That's right. Spend more time reading! And to help you, we encourage you to join the 2020 Goodreads Reading Challenge.
It's simple: Set a goal of how many books you want to read this year, and we'll help you keep track of your progress. How many books will you be pledging?
After several years of offering the Reading Challenge, we've learned what helps people enjoy their year of reading. Here's some of our best advice.

After several years of offering the Reading Challenge, we've learned what helps people enjoy their year of reading. Here's some of our best advice.
- Push yourself, but be realistic. Avoid the dreaded reading slump by committing to an achievable goal. You can always increase the number of books later.
- Use the calendar as a guideline: 12 books (one per month), 24 books (two per month), or even 52 books (one per week).
- Get scientific: Check out this expert advice on how to develop a reading habit.
- Remember, this is fun! This challenge is all about what you want to read. But don't take our word for it: See what several of our very bookish Goodreads members have to say.

- Rereading counts! So by all means, go ahead and dive into those old favorites.
- Listen to audiobooks. This is a great way to read more and multitask.
- Put books on hold at your local library so it's easier to start your next book.
- Use your Want to Read shelf to help keep track of what you'd like to read next.
- If you’re an Amazon Prime member, did you know there are multiple ways you can read free books as part of your membership? Check out First Reads to get one free, pre-release Kindle book a month (available in the U.S., U.K., and Australia). And you can also read more free books with Prime Reading (available in the U.S., Canada, Brazil, the U.K., Germany, Spain, France, Italy, India, Japan, China, and Australia).

- Peruse our News and Interviews page for bookish articles and roundups, chats with favorite authors, and much more.
- Check out the winners and nominees from the 2019 Goodreads Choice Awards for hundreds of new books Goodreads members love.
- Browse thousands of reading lists on Listopia.
- Get started with a seasonal read with these reader-approved wintertime books.
- Reading = Self-Care! Studies have shown that a reading habit can prolong your life, make you a better leader, and improve your mental health all while being entertained by a good story.

So...what are you waiting for? Get started now!

I find this challenge to be entertaining and encouraging. I like that I can look back to previous years and see what I read as well as how many. Good program!

go to the help section and ask for a reset of your read shelf. But you can easily check the books you have read and see if you have added a "read date" or accidentally added a second "read date" which would mean either the book didn't get into your stats or got in there twice. Have a look. I had one too many on my shelf last year and when they checked one of the last few books had got in there with two read dates and thus got counted twice.

130 That's a pretty decent goal. I'm only doing 100. I figure that's about 2 a week. Good luck and happy reading.

We are same, almost.
My goal was 10 books and I had already read 5 books before Nov, so I read 5 books in the last two month, though some books were way too long and took more than 2 books and sometime after finishing a book I had a tough time deciding on next whether it should be a short one or long. SO this year I'm starting with 20 books and I'm planning ot increase it as time goes on.

If you go to "home" at top of page, it should tell you on the left hand side of screen what you are currently reading. Also, you can go to "my books" at top of screen and you should be able to hit "currently reading" from that page. Hope this helps.

GOOD LUCK!!! :)
HOPE YOU ENJOY READING DURING THIS YEAR'S CHALLENGE!!!

GO FOR IT!!! GOOD LUCK!!! :D

So this year cutting back to 12.
We'll see how it goes.
Have 1 done already, so ahead of the game.

Good Luck and maybe you will reach a goal of Baby #4 keep reading!!! I think 8 is pretty amazing with 3 little ones :)

Who says children’s books aren’t reading. Each time you read a book to your children post it. Those reviews are just as valid as 400 page thrillers, romance, history, young adult, etc.
might I suggest a children’s book I discovered which is my go to baby shower gift: “Wordy Birdy” by Tammi Sauer. There is also a second book called “ Wordy Birdy Meets Mr. Cougarpants.
Happy Reading!
