I already have They All Fall Down by Rachel Howzel Hall on my TBR. There are plenty of books here I didn't even know about. I'm passing on Marlon James' book because while it sounds interesting, fantasy often doesn't get me in my book feels. I do hear it's a story worth the read.

These are amazing. I'm feeling greedy for the lot. 😋
there needs to be a lot more non-fiction works here... white people need to start learning about how awful slavery and racism are, and how the treatment of people of color throughout history has shaped the trajectory of so many lives... the fact that most white Americans think racism is in the past, and that being nice to people of color will make racism disappear (i'm not racist! i have black friends!), means there is still so much for white people to learn not only about everyday racism, but the social, economic, and political systems that have built and still support racism...

Regarding James' question about THE DEEP. . .I don't know the extent of the involvement of the group. I only have the information that has been released so far.
I sure hope this article is followed up by lists featuring black literature in general. It's Black History Month, not Amazon Capitalizing Off of Black History Month.
Black is the Body-Emily Bernard. I heard this on an NPR interview, and it sounds really fascinating. Also, Stony the Road, by Henry Louis Gates, Jr., as I really respect him.
