The Top 100 YA Books on Goodreads
A battlefield where wild magic fills the air. A high school where a fierce rivalry transforms an entire town. A near-future wasteland where a group of misfits seeks something greater than survival…
This is the world of YA. Whether you're a lifelong fan or a curious reader looking to try something new, come along with us as we reveal the very best of the genre.
There are thousands of YA books, so how did we go about finding the most beloved ones on Goodreads? We started by focusing on what's been added the most to Goodreads members' shelves. But this isn't simply a popularity contest; we wanted the best. So we narrowed down our list to include only books with at least a four-star average rating. We also decided to select just the first book in a series—otherwise prolific authors like Leigh Bardugo, Marie Lu, and Sarah J. Maas would claim many more spots on this list.
And now, without further ado, we present the Top 100 YA Books, ranked by popularity on Goodreads. How many have you read? Tell us in the comments!

A sad amount of 15 books, I guess I haven’t been reading as much as I used to
flag
Have maybe read 12? LOVE the drama and angst in contemporary YA, but many of these push the limits... for me. And Sandee Mason, the protagonist of TALENT, wants me to tell her next story.
20, but lots of them are on my to-read list. (And a fair number of the books on this list I have read are my favorites, so)
22, and there were others that I knew about from other people/am currently reading/saw the movie(divergent)/read the graphic novel version(wrinkle in time)
17 1/2 so far... I feel so incompetent, but I think that it's missing When It's Real, by Erin Watt and also the Royal's series by the same author.
I can't believe you didn't include "Scream all Night" by Derek Milman, on this list, one of the best YA novels I ever read.My book club is reading it now.
I've never considered myself as hardcore of a YA reader as harder-core YA readers but I've read 25 books on this list, which I think is pretty cool!

Phew I'm happy to hear that. I'm 29 and was afraid at some point I was going to grow out of it.
18.... And btw, The A Court of Thorns and Roses series is NOT YA lol I keep seeing it being recommended in bookstores as a top YA pick and I can only imagine some folks giving this to their 11-year-old grandkid and not knowing what's really in it. Seems disingenuous to me.

I'm 67 and read YA and Middle Grade books all the time. I actually read more of them than I do adult books.
I do not understand why Madeline Miller's book Circe is not the top book on this list. It is better than any book on the list and totally appropriate for teen readers. Pfffft.....
27 not including any contemporaries. To be honest I've never read a YA contemporary book and I'd rather just stick to fantasy, sci-fi, dystopia, historical, paranormal etc.
