The Top 100 YA Books on Goodreads
A battlefield where wild magic fills the air. A high school where a fierce rivalry transforms an entire town. A near-future wasteland where a group of misfits seeks something greater than survival…
This is the world of YA. Whether you're a lifelong fan or a curious reader looking to try something new, come along with us as we reveal the very best of the genre.
There are thousands of YA books, so how did we go about finding the most beloved ones on Goodreads? We started by focusing on what's been added the most to Goodreads members' shelves. But this isn't simply a popularity contest; we wanted the best. So we narrowed down our list to include only books with at least a four-star average rating. We also decided to select just the first book in a series—otherwise prolific authors like Leigh Bardugo, Marie Lu, and Sarah J. Maas would claim many more spots on this list.
And now, without further ado, we present the Top 100 YA Books, ranked by popularity on Goodreads. How many have you read? Tell us in the comments!

I'm not sure if I'd consider some of these (i.e. Harry Potter, A Wrinkle in Time, Percy Jackson) young adult. Also, this list is missing Lord of the Rings! D: (Oh, and I've only read three of these. XP)

I'm 36 and read a lot of YA.
YA is also the theme for public library's next Big Library Read in October, voting open now. https://biglibraryread.com
I’ve only read 8 of these and currently reading 1 of them... man all these other people have read like 50 😂
Amanda wrote: "12 - but I think YA is the wrong classification for many of these books. They are books about teen characters so they are considered young adult. But that doesn't mean non-teens can't enjoy them!
Have to say I don’t agree with Anne of Green Gables being on a Y.A. list. It’s always in the children’s section in libraries and bookstores.
I've read 8 from this list, and did not finish 7. Many on here just don't appeal to me at this time although I'm not ruling them out completely. Also, none of Megan Whalen Turner's books are here and they should be!
43/100 readAwesome list... It has all of my favorites and even the really good ones that are by lesser-known authors. Good list!

Sí, Throne of Glass también
Mary wrote: YA is the correct classification. They are books about teen characters so they are considered young adult. But that doesn't mean non-teens can't enjoy them! ."All due respect, I don't agree with that. "YA books" refers to books for young adults, not necessarily about them.
0. Big, fat ZERO! Though I read plenty, I haven't read a single one of these. I intend to read at least one YA novel in my life, so I shall pick one from this list.
19 BUT =YA confuses me just WHAT is it that makes something YA - for instance The Book Thief classed here as YA is in my view contemporary literature through and through not YA can anyone at GR tell me what makes a book YA a definitive guide

Yeah, I mean, the protagonist is a tad too young to be a young adult herself.
