The Sorting House

Located at 318 West 52nd Street, The Sorting House is a new condominium with a very unique story and design. The building stands a total of five stories tall, with thirty homes spread out over the top three stories.

History

Although The Sorting House is a new-construction condominium, it actually has a history that dates back to 1926. One of the features that makes this building a truly unique place to call home is the 3 stories of residences are constructed on top of a post office that was built all the way back in 1926. That heritage inspired the building’s name, as well as much of its design.

Demographics Favorable to New York City

During the 1970s and 1980s, New York City struggled under the weight of several glaring issues. It is hard to imagine, but the city was riddled with crime and other matters, causing people to flee for the safety of the suburbs. Crime rates spiked, particularly in the 1980s. For example, homicides peaked in 1990 with 2,245. Last year, there were 328, despite a growing population.

Is There an Adjustment in Your Future?

This may seem an odd time to consider an adjustable rate mortgage (ARM). After all, in a recent post, we discussed fixed rate mortgages are near all-time lows. Why not lock in the low rate? Learn Why You Need a Buyer Agent

Anyone buying a condo or co-op in New York City should have their own agent. One of the many advantages of having a buyer agent on your side is they negotiate the best price and terms for you. Not only is that a very compelling service, but it’s available to you at no cost.
