Tortured heroines…

I had a fantastic review over at Kate G's blog the other day…a guest reviewer, Stacy, had reviewed Hunter's Need and loved it.   Her review, like this part:

So is up to Duke to teach this tortured heroine that it's okay to love. Him. "If you can look at my scars without flinching, I can do the same to you" he says to her the morning after an extended lovemaking session. "If you can touch mine and still want me, I can touch yours . . . and still want you."

This slow, difficult path to love...

Music, motivation, making the weight come off

I'm not exactly somebody who needs music.

I enjoy it, but I'm not one of the writers who must have a certain track going…although I do focus better when there's something.  I don't need a certain sort of music for love scenes, and honestly, for me?  I kind of laugh even thinking about trying to come up with songs just for that purpose.

Okay…writing a naughty scene now. Must get up and adjust the iPod.

Knowing me and my weird sense of humor, I'd end up getting the giggles just thinking about it, ...

Randomosity… READ AN EBOOK WEEK…news…

Yes, this shall be a hodge-podge.

I think I posted last week, but there are going to be a few more books coming from me from Berkley in 2011/2012-a Veil book (Morne), a Hunter book (Toronto) and a book set in the same world as The Missing (featuring Taylor and Dez).

According to a couple of different sites, it's READ AN EBOOK WEEK.  Looking for suggestions?  Hey, I've got some. A lot, really.  Like 50, I think.  You could try my first, Her Best Friend's Lover, or one of my personal faves...

Author… writer…

What?

So over on twitter, they often have what they call #writechat.

Basically, it's like a chat room.  They were talking about the difference between an author and writer.

One tweet, can't remember the exact words, but it was that you're an author once you're published.  Before that, you're a writer.

This is where opinion is going to come into play, and a lot of it will be personal preference, I think.

Now people can call me an author…and I don't care.  I am, there's no reason saying other wise.

B...

I'm sleepless, and I blame Ilona Andrews

Ilona Andrews sucks.  Yep.

Now, before anybody tries to scalp me…anybody who reads my blog on a semi-regular basis has probably noticed that I've mentioned these books a time or two.  I'm kind of…well…enamored with them.  They are becoming my crack.  They are moving up there my keeper shelf with the ranks of SL Viehl and JD Robb.

So why does Ilona suck?

Because I can't sleep much more than a few hours lately and here is why.

For the past fricking week, I'm staying up reading. And re-reading...

Guest blog…music and such

:o )

I did another guest blog today…over at Book Lover's Inc.

It's on music….and oddly enough, I'm talking music here in a few days, although not specifically about how music motivates my writing.  It's another motivational thing.  Those who follow me twitter might know what it's about.  My new experiment into self torture…groan.

About Booksignings

I often get asked when I'll come here, or there.

Trust me, I want to hit a lot of places.  I like meeting my readers, and I love to travel to places I haven't been.

But it's not always easy.  Booksignings are pretty much on my own dollar-until an author hits big, they aren't financed by publishers.  It's up to me and you can imagine going anywhere more than a few hours away can get pricy and if it's too far to drive in a few hours, then you're not just looking at gas, you're looking at at...

A cool signing

A writer just never knows what kind of signing you're going to have.  I've got to admit, I didn't know if I was expecting to sell more than a couple of books when I had my signing yesterday in Louisville at the Booksamillion.  Why?

Well…a successful signing can depend on a few things.

Are you a huge name?  I am not.  I'm working toward it.  But I am not huge.Is the weather nice?  Do. Not. Laugh.  I'm serious!  A nice day?  It can be a death knell.  Saturday was a REALLY NICE DAY.Is there a...

on authors, peoples, mistakes, the internet…

Okay, so first up, I'm doing something I rarely do-turning off comments.  Why?  Because I've seen how some of the threads that never die have lit up and sometimes, particularly in a few instances, the comments become less than…well, civil.  I try to keep things civil here-as this is a blog for my readers to hang out and they aren't always going to hang out in a place where things get nasty.  Since I dunno if I can rely on people to remain civil, and since I'm not inclined to play babysitter w...
