A wolf shifter in denial, who is better with animals than people...

Under The Crescent Moon by Amy Lee Burgess
USA Today Bestselling Author Under The Crescent Moonby
Amy Lee Burgess

USA Today Bestselling Author(@amyleeburgess)

Luke Thibodeaux wants nothing more than to forget about his bad breakup, but his Alpha is pressuring him to find a new bond mate fast.
Irene Kirby has always known she was adopted, but she has no idea her birth parents were wolf shifters.
When chance throws her into Luke's path, she won't believe him when he tells her what she is -- especially since the only way to find out the truth is to sleep with him, which would release her wolf.
Convincing her becomes Luke's mission, but can he deal with Irene and his Alpha's expectations and someone make everyone happy?

“I want to shift now.” Irene forced the words past the tightness squeezing her throat. Watershed moment. She would not be the same person anymore after she took this step. Forever different. Transformed. And not simply because she would meet her wolf. Sleeping with Luke would change her as well.“What happened to the part where you swore you’d never sleep with me?” His eyes glowed, almost feral, tempting Irene to fall into them and be swept away. “That was such bullshit and you know it.” She leaned forward to brush away that stubborn lock of his hair that had fallen into his eyes again. “I’ve wanted to sleep with you since the moment you charged into my examination room. Couldn’t you tell?”“Maybe,” he said, a small smile quirking the corners of his sensual mouth. When she let herself fall forward off the cot, he caught her and kissed her, his mouth hot and hard against hers. Gasping for breath, she parted her lips, and their tongues tangled together. She lifted her arms, and he tore her tank top off before unhooking her bra so he could cup her breasts in his palms. “You sure?” He trailed kisses to her ear and nibbled on her earlobe. Bolts of electric desire sparked through her, making her blood dance. “I’m not doing this just because I want to shift into a wolf.” She tangled her fingers in his crisp, dark hair before finding his mouth with hers. He yanked his shirt off as she moved to the cot. She slid off her skirt and panties, and he pressed against her from behind, his cock hard against her lower back. She groaned when he fondled her breasts and kissed her neck, sucking at the skin making her tingle all over. When he slid one hand between her thighs, she shifted to allow him greater access. His hand was heavy and warm against her wet pussy. He found her clit with the ball of his thumb and rubbed. The gentle friction buckled her knees, but he held her up. First he slid one finger, then two inside her, and continued to tease her clit with his thumb. She gasped when she came, squirming against his hand, wanting more, so much more.“We’re gonna break the goddamn bed,” he predicted as they fell onto it. “I don’t care. I just want you inside me.” She twisted beneath him until she faced him. His face was flushed, his eyes dark. He buried himself, balls deep, inside her, with one exquisite thrust, and they both groaned. He shut his eyes, but she kept hers open so she could watch him as he moved against her, his mouth dropping slightly open as they found their rhythm.Jesus, he smelled so fucking good. She gave in to her desires and pressed her face against his muscled shoulder so she could take a deep breath. Normally during sex she tried to hold her breath to avoid breathing her partner’s scent too deeply, but Luke smelled like summer, sunbaked grass, and she couldn’t get enough of the scent. She darted her tongue against his skin, tasting him, and her mind nearly exploded under the onslaught of passion, desire, and something – else.Claws seemed to scratch at her from the inside, but they didn’t precisely hurt, they seemed to unlock or unfurl something essential. She cried out when Luke opened his eyes. They were no longer quite human. Feral, glowing. Wild.“It’s my wolf,” he told her. “My wolf’s eyes. Yours are the same, darlin’. Bright, bright blue. My God, you’re beautiful.”

Charley had escaped Silas’s sad excuse for a prison cell with no more than a broken nail. She knew that she was going to be in some deep shit with her employer for not only disappearing for a few days but also for not killing Silas as promised. There was something infuriating and sexy about the man that made it hard for her not to go rubbing her sass in his face. With his sardonic smile and chiseled cheek bones, Silas was quickly becoming her hardest job yet.

Silas found the little red head’s antics cute. Someone wanted him dead, but that was nothing new. The dragon was one of the most hated of his kind. He couldn’t help it everyone else was too scared to take what they really wanted, no matter the consequences. So they had hired the half-breed to send him to an early grave, but something was getting in the way of her pulling the trigger. Silas knew he pissed her off just as much as he heated her up. Next time he got her alone, he was going to investigate both.

Charley wanted this job to be over. The target was a smug, arrogant dragon with a great butt. Silas had leverage over the red-headed halfling who was trying to kill him. He’d give her what she wanted but only after he had her for a night, or three.

“Where have you been?” the man barked at her. “Is it done?”She had two answers for him. “Fuck no and none of your business.”“I’m paying you for a job, when you disappear after part of it was to be completed, it becomes my business. I thought I hired the best?”After she failed to kill the sister of her target because the target found her beforehand and then proceeded to take her captive for the night, Charley didn’t feel that her embarrassment was any of his business. Although, she made up for it in the end with her disappearing act. She hoped Silas like the note she left him. With her bag packed, Charley zipped it closed and moved to the next. The fact that Silas knew where she lived and how to get into her apartment wasn’t an issue before but she pissed him off and proved him wrong. The man would be sending out his guys to bring her back. Luckily, she had a few holes in the city and was packing up the essentials to move. “Calm your face, it will be done.” Her employer this time around was a whiny hardass. He checked in a few times a day and nagged her relentlessly. She typically didn’t get involved with the whys of the situation just the who’s and how’s. As in, who did they want dead and how did they want it done. But sometimes, and right now was a perfect example, she really wished she could kill the people who hired her instead of the targets, the world would have one less asshole. But then she wouldn’t get paid and Charley really liked to get paid. Although in this case, the money was not nearly as tempting as putting a hole in Mr. Copenhagen’s chest. Silas held a card in his hand that intrigued her, and he knew it too. “Get it done within the week and I’ll double what I’m paying you.”Well now…“You’d pay me four million dollars to kill the leader of the green sept of dragons.”“Only if you do it by Saturday night.” Oh man, this was what she lived for. Charley was born half angel, half bastard. She had no idea what her other half was since her bitch of a mother left her when she was five. Foster homes made up the next thirteen years of her life until she was eighteen and could walk away from the life her mother had condemned her to. Hunting and killing things had started off as self-preservation in a hard world full of creatures that hated her because she wasn’t one of their perfect races. Being a Halfling made her a target, being a good shot got the bullseye off her back and onto the head of someone else. Turns out that just because people hate you for what you had no choice in, didn’t mean they wouldn’t pay you to kill someone they hated more. She had a pretty good life for herself. Then that fucking green dragon had to come knocking. Charley had been thrilled to find that someone hated that cock sucker as much as she did. The man broke into her home after having virtually nothing on her, she knew, she kept track of those things. He just broke in to see who she was. This led her to believe he was either stupid and stumbled into the wrong apartment--which considering he is known as one of the most ruthless men in his species, she didn’t think stupid was a very good description--or he must have known her from somewhere else. Charley doubted he was trying to hire her. He had his own men for that shit. That meant he had to know her sperm donor. She had made assumptions over her father throughout the years. Who he was. What he was. She never got a definite answer. Silas’s presence in her apartment pushed her towards her father being a dragon. Her assumptions were confirmed just last night. Silas knew her father. He flashed her his hand and it was tempting, so damn tempting. But then again, so was money. “Deal. He’ll be dead by Saturday.” *******“You’ve been distracted all night,” Hailey whispered too him. He blinked away the glaze in his eyes and focused back on her. They were the only ones dancing under the millions of tiny twinkling lights of the small dance floor. Then again considering she was one of three women here the options were limited. His sister made a beautiful bride, even more so when she smiled like she was. Her surprise mating to Dacea had gone as planned and Silas had to admit, he was happy for it. He had grown tired of their back and forth love battles and arguments. Had they not done this today, he would have kidnapped them both and officiated them himself while they were bound and gagged. “I’m distracted by your beauty.”She snorted. “Nice try. What’s on your mind?” Little red headed escape artists. “Work.” “Then why are you smiling?” Silas narrowed his eyes. Cocky little thing today, wasn’t she? He spun her out and pulled her back with a giggle on her lips. “Maybe I’m smiling because you are so happy, it makes me happy.” “I don’t think that’s a lie but it sure ain’t the whole truth.”“Hailey,” he said in warning. “I do not wish to discuss it.” “It’s my wedding and I’ll grill you if I want to. Now talk.” She stepped on his foot but he kept them moving. Traditional dances were not something she was familiar with and mixed with her lack of coordination on a good day, his toes would be bruised that evening. Still, he spun them around so effortlessly that no one would be the wiser of her coordination issues unless they were watching for her grimaces.“A prisoner escaped from the cells last night.”Surprised she said, “I thought that was impossible. Well, beyond my heroic excape.”“So did I.” It bothered him all day. He had spent his time before the mating locked in the room trying to see a way out from her perspective. He found none. His men were doing the same now but during his last check in, they hadn’t found any way out either. “Who was it?” “No one important,” he said dismissively. Hailey wasn’t buying it. “Try again.” But Charlotte wasn’t important, she merely over took his mind at all hours of the day and consumed his thoughts so thoroughly that he could get nothing done. “A woman who you do not need to hear any more about.”“Is this that woman Dak mentioned? Started with a C or something.” He’d need to thank Dacea with his fist later on for telling Hailey about Charlotte. “Yes,” he said stiffly.“No frowning at the bride.”Silas exhaled trying to find patience. “Hailey-““Geez, fine. I’ll stop.” “Thank you.” The song ended and wasn’t that just perfect timing. Silas stepped back and with a bow he excused himself. He heard her mutter “coward” at his back but didn’t step up to the challenge. She’d get her answers, eventually. First he wanted his own answers. Charlotte missed her original target. That was going to eat at her if it wasn’t already. She was a perfectionist and from the look she had when he told her of the miss, he knew that had been a first. She’d come after him hard now, wanting to finish the job and move on. Most in his situation would hide away and increase their security. Silas planned on doing the opposite. She wanted to kill him for profit. So he would put himself out there for her to try. He’d show himself so she would have to show herself. There were a few functions he was invited too that would do for this plan. Normally he would send a check in lieu of attending, which most preferred since he didn’t “play well with others,” as Hailey put it. He would enjoy seeing the faces of everyone when he did show up, especially those at his table. The poor souls won’t know what hit them.

Hiya! I am all kinds of excited for this set and can’t wait to get this interview going. *rubs hands together* So bring on the questions. Easy ones, hard ones, whatever you want to know I’d be happy to share.
How long have you been a writer and how did you come to writing?  Well, it’s been long enough that I had to pull up my KDP dashboard to see when my first book was published. March 2014 I published my first book. Last month I published my eleventh.  I got into writing when a friend of mine started to write fanfiction/role playing. That was *counts fingers* seven years ago. The friend didn’t stick but the writing did. I left the fanfiction behind and began writing flash fiction and short stories.
How did you come up with this storyline?    Well this is the standalone spinoff story of the villain turned semi-good guy from my Hailey Holloway Series. Silas needed his own HEA but he couldn’t have just anyone. She had to be tough as shit with a don’t give a fuck attitude. Charley was actually one of my characters I wrote as back in my early days. I adapted a lot of her flash fiction stories to work for Swelter.
What do you do when you don’t write? Like in “Real Life”My “day job” is a photographer at a portrait studio. I went to school for photography and although I like it, I don’t love it. Photography is a great hobby, it’s just hard to make money in it when you don’t eat, sleep, breathe it. So a few years ago I decided that it was time for a change. I began taking classes online for Library Science. I am about a year away from getting my bachelors and plan to continue on to get my masters and be a bona fide librarian. Right around the time I started school, I was publishing my first book. I had a lot of big changes all at once, which was good. It pushed me out of my comfort zone and into the world I live in now. I live with my boyfriend, two german shepherds and cats in a house we bought last year. He’s a police officer and works strange hours but that gives me time to do homework and write. We have been together for 5 years and I am impatiently waiting for the day he proposes. (I can say this because I know he won’t read be reading this interview.)
What are the best and the worst aspects of writing? Best would definitely be the satisfaction of the final product. Those emails from readers telling you how much they enjoyed your book. As for the worst, I’d have to say the ever changing publishing world. Once I get the hang of something it changes. It’s a never ending cycle.
What inspires you to write? What doesn’t? Inspiration hits at all times and from the most random of things. I once wrote an entire detailed outline in 10 minutes between appointments at work for a novel that had nothing to do with anything I was currently working on. My previous appointment had said something that just clicked with me. I still have the scribbly pages with margin notes and arrows galore waiting for the day I put it into action.
How did you conduct your research for **Swelter**?As a librarian-in-training, I scoff at the thought of research. Getting lost in the rabbit hole of databases and Boolean phrases is just another Thursday night to me. I tend to research as I write. I’ll stop mid-sentence and run off to search a particular tree native to the area for an hour before coming back and finishing off the line.
What type of author would you categorize yourself as, a plotter (one who plots the story from beginning to end), or a pantser (one who lets the story take shape without meticulous planning)?Oh, I’m a plotter all the way. I tried pantsing it for my first book and I hit so many road blocks it was frustrating. I work best by outlining my book, usually in one sitting and scribbled on the back of whatever paper I can find at the most inconvenient time and place because that’s how my mind rolls. I then type it up so it’s legible and tend to add a lot to it then. My outlines are pretty detailed but yet leave a lot of room to play. They also have a lot of dialog in them. Usually, I’m also in the middle of writing something else and probably have three or four other books already outlined waiting to be typed up or written.
Are reader reviews important to you? Why?Yes and no. I love to hear what they have to say but I learned fast in my first year of being published to keep a thick skin and take reviews with a grain of salt. Not everyone is going to like your plot or writing style but those who do are loyal and wonderful and make it all worth it.
Tell us about your other books? My other series is a wolf shifter romance. It’s about a pack of wolves trying to fight for their secrecy. There are a group of their kind called Canidae who think the wolf should rule more than the human and want to stop hiding from the world. The first book, Too Far gone, introduces the pack but follows the enforcer who had gone feral after a tragic accident. He is found by a woman who was new to town and kind of adopts this wolf who liked to hang around. In a twist of fate, she is attacked by one of these Canidae wolves and extreme measures are taken to save her life. Each story in the series has a HEA and no cliffhangers. (I HATE cliffhangers.) I also write under the name Charlotte Casey with contemporary romance. Just released my first rockstar romance book, Chance (Rusted and Reckless).
If you could share one thing about yourself that you would like readers to know what would it be? Uh, I don’t know. I think I shared a few things above that are good to know about me. I guess I’ll add that I am a nerd and love to talk to other nerds. In fact, I am Head Nerd of my group of friends and even have a Nerd Card, which I carry with me in my wallet.
Well, I have homework to get to. It was nice chatting with you! I am thrilled to be part of the Prowlers and Growlers set and can’t wait to read all the stories.

K.C. Stewart is the self published author of the Hailey Holloway series and most recently, the Adirondack Pack series. All her life she had fantasized and day-dreamed on a regular basis but it wasn’t until she began writing short stories that she made those fantasies a reality. She has graduated to novels but still dabbles in the occasional flash fiction and short story. Because of her love for reading and the written word, K.C. is currently continuing her education at Clarion University for Library Science. When she isn’t taking photographs, studying or writing, she is supporting a very real gummy bear habit. Currently, she lives with her boyfriend, german shepherds and cats in central Pennsylvania.

When death steps in...

Committed and compassionate intensive care nurse, Rachel O'Dea will do anything to save her patients. But when she loses a kind and loving man whom she forged a fatherly relationship with, Rachel unravels.

...or so everyone thinks.

The calm and soothing voices Rachel hears and the apparitions she sees are of the deceased man and his late wife as they navigate and persuade her to make important choices in her life, leading her right where she's supposed to be.

Free clinic doctor, Devon Jameson, needs more hands on deck. He can't possibly handle all the medical cases alone. When Rachel walks in, volunteering her services, he knows he has no choice other than to take her on board as she proves her worth when a pediatric trauma is left on his doorstep and there’s no one else to assist. As the two begin working together, their lives intertwine and the attraction intensifies. Scarred deeply by their past and their pain, Rachel and Devon begin a future only angels could predict.

Rachel walked over to the young Latino woman and waited for her to open the glass before speaking. “Hi, I’m here to see Dr. Jameson.”“The doctor is busy,” she said pushing a clipboard forward. “Fill this out and I’ll call your name when it’s your turn,” she said in heavily accented English, and turned her attention back to her nails.“Sorry, no,” Rachel said. “You misunderstand.” She glanced at the woman’s nametag. “Maria, I’m not here for an appointment. I’m, er, a friend of Dr. Jameson’s.” The lie poured off her tongue and she gripped the shoulder strap of her purse praying she wouldn’t be sent away.Maria’s hand stilled and she lifted a brow. “The doctor has no friends.” The clinic’s phone began to ring, but she ignored it.Gee, I wonder why almost spilled from Rachel’s mouth but she caught herself just in time. Not for the first time she wondered how Seamus had spawned the devil himself. “Maria,” Devon’s harsh voice yelled out. “Answer that damn phone already.” “I’m busy,” Maria replied sweetly, loud enough to be heard in the back. She glanced at Rachel. A sly smile curved her lips. “Talking to your friend.” “I don’t have any friends,” he said coming around the corner.“See?” Maria said with a careless shrug, going back to her nails once more. “I told you.”Awesome. Just fucking awesome. Rachel wanted to crawl under a rock and die. Get lost in the Sahara Desert with no water in 150 degree heat. Or be left in shark-infested waters with no life raft. Be anywhere but here. You owe me, Seamus.“What the hell are you doing here?” he demanded. “I… ah,” Rachel cleared her throat. Fuck my life. Why had she let Seamus talk her into this again? Oh yes. He didn’t want his body in a cold steel box. If what the ghost had said was true and he wasn’t just her overactive imagination playing tricks on her. Damn it. Devon was going to see reason. She steeled her shoulders and lifted her chin. “I need to talk to you.” She glanced at Maria. “In private,” she added.“You knock her up or something, Doc? Cuz there’s only one reason a woman comes in here looking that way. Like she’s going to tell you about the little bun in her oven.”“What? No!” Rachel and Devon said in unison. The horror Rachel felt must’ve been written all over her face, because Devon scowled and Maria just laughed. Heat flamed Rachel’s cheeks. “You get five minutes,” he said harshly and turned on his heal.Maria motioned with her nail file. “Go through that door, chica. Turn left and you’ll find the doctor. Good luck,” she said with a wink. “I hope it’s a girl. Another boy with that man’s temper? No bueno.” She tsked.

Hi, I’m Kathleen and I’m going to be your nurse tonight. How are you feeling—Oh! Oops! Wrong job, LOL.  I really do need to remember to try and delete “Oops” from my vocabulary. Doesn’t really inspire confidence in a patient when that word pops out of my mouth—which is way too often. JI am so very happy to be here. Thank you for the invitation to get out of my scrubs and chill for a bit.
How long have you been a writer and how did you come to writing? I was first published back in 2008, but I’ve always written stories.
How did you come up with this storyline?     Ha! I was just talking about this tonight at work. I’d actually started this manuscript back in 2007 and shelved it. The idea had originally came on a night where one of my patients had passed away. I can’t remember if we had coded him or if it was a case where we withdrew care.
When a patient dies, we remove all the invasive lines and tubes, bathe the body, put glasses and dentures in place and then bag the body for the morgue. I don’t know if anyone has ever seen a dead body up close—and I’m not talking about a viewing in a mortuary where the person looks like they’re sleeping.
Well on this particular night as I was going about doing post mortem care and my mind started with the “what if” questions. I couldn’t get the patient’s mouth to close around his dentures and they kept sliding out. So then I’m wondering What if he is standing beside me as I’m doing this watching me and shaking his head at my failure to get the dentures in place properly? What if I could actually see and talk to him and he gave me advice? What if I saw his ghost and just freaked the F—ck out? LOL
What are the best and the worst aspects of writing? Some of the best aspects of writing is all the really great friendships I’ve made over the years. I’ve learned so much and have grown tremendously as a writer thanks to the support of the writing community and am so grateful. The worst aspect… probably all of the promotional work that goes into a book release. Trying to get the word spread about your book is really hard. There are so many great authors out there and standing up and shouting to the world “Read Mine!!!” seems a bit ridiculous. LOL But I’m learning…
What inspires you to write?Working critical care can be extremely depressing. Helping people who suffer with horrendous illnesses or have been involved in tragic accidents can chip away at a person’s spirit. I love happily ever afters—who doesn’t? Writing is a wonderful escape for me.
How did you conduct your research for Chicks Dig Scars?I’ve been a nurse for 23 years, so you can say I’ve been “researching” all of my adult life!
What are 3 of your favorite quotes from Chicks Dig Scars? Maybe this whole I’m your dead patient and I’m going to haunt you thing is growing on me.
“Christ, I’m losing my mind. I’m yelling at a dead man.”
“There’s sex in the afterlife?”
Any more Favorites from Chicks Dig Scars?
Yes! The scene where Devon’s receptionist thinks Rachel is knocked up. See below:
“Go through that door, chica. Turn left and you’ll find the doctor. Good luck,” she said with a wink. “I hope it’s a girl. Another boy with that man’s temper? No bueno.” She tsked.              “I’m not pregnant!” Rachel insisted.
What would your friends say is your best quality? That I have a lot of drive...
Are reader reviews important to you? Why?Important? Hmmm… I do love hearing from readers, but I don’t write for the reviews. I write for me.
What do you do when you don’t write? Like in “Real Life”Work. I have four kids to get through college. Two are in college and 3rd kiddo starts in the fall. When I’m off, my husband and I have season baseball and football tickets, go to concerts, I bake—of course—and there’s lots of mandatory education required for my job as a flight nurse.
Tell us about your other books?  Besides Chicks Dig Scars, I currently have 4 titles available: The first two books of my Dating Series~Dating 911 & Dating Impossible; The Doctor’s Deception; Sex Is The Best Medicine, and Diary of A Naughty Nurse. All of these are contemporary romances with action packed medical drama, humor andsteamy enough to fog your glasses!

Full time nurse, amateur cake baker, writer, and zombie obsessed, Kathleen draws a lot from the real-life medical drama she experiences as a RN for her novels. Writing romance is a creative outlet where she can effectively deal with the daily stress and sorrow, adding levity and humor to situations that provide a happily ever after when there isn't one. She has recently discovered the fantastic world of air ambulance after 20+ years of working critical care in the hospital and relishes her role as a flight nurse!

“Loved it! Such a clever story. Can’t wait to read the next book in this new series!”

“Well written! Impressed with the way the story explores time travel and relationships”

“Sybil Shae is a genius! This story is well thought out and loaded. BRAVO!”

A young woman is given a gift from her grandmother that turns out to be much more than what it appears to be.

Is your past, really your past at all?

Fall in love all over again with
"Timing Is Everything-Origin Of The Journal"

Chapter One     A picture, they say, is worth a thousand words; except, of course when it isn’t. Tom Collins, the top photographer for National Geographic last year made better than a million dollars. That averages out to about two thousand dollars per usable picture he took. Pierre Marcoullier over at Vogue brought in something comparable. These guys are artists and adventurers at the top of their field, but they’d be the first to tell you that the value in a picture has to do with a lot more than lighting and shadow and perspective. A photo of your dead grandfather at his eightieth birthday might not even make the local newspaper, but if it’s one of only a few photos that exist of the man because he was shy, then for your family it’s literally priceless. Likewise, some of the classic photos that we have of historical figures or events are of really poor quality, but because they record something that’s part of our collective history, Lincoln at Gettysburg, say, or the “Tank Man” at Tiananmen Square, they’re worth more than money can buy. Most photos, though, literally 99.9% of those ever taken are not worth anything on their own, either based on artistic merit or historical significance. But in the hands of the right marketer and designer, they’re solid gold.

That’s what I do—I deploy photographs for advertising purposes at a major Manhattan marketing firm. Most of the photos I wind up using are not taken by professionals, or at least no one more professional than might have taken your senior picture; they’re uploaded to PBase or Flickr or any of a couple hundred other image databases, and if they’re copyrighted then we pay twenty-five or fifty or a hundred bucks a pic. But then, with a little careful editing and some clever design work, that picture helps to make my clients millions. Of course, we do use some professional photographers, and if I can’t find just the right image after hours of looking I might commission a shoot or take a few shots myself, but most of what I do is look at what other people have done and imagine how it can be used for some purpose they could never have dreamed of when they did it.

That is, I suppose, why at Christmastime last year my grandma gave me the scrapbook. Now I know what you’re thinking and I was too, I’m about as far away from a scrapbooking grandmother as they come, but Grandma had something of the artist’s eye and the marketer’s spirit in her too—she’d designed the endcaps and window displays at Gimbel’s for years—and she understood, at least in principle, what it was I was trying to do. So, after the regular family gift exchange, and the obligatory large meal, while most everyone else was catching an afternoon nap, she called me into her bedroom.

“Kelly,” she said, patting the bed beside her and speaking in a conspiratorial whisper. “I’ve got something else for you, but I didn’t want to do it in front of the rest of the family.”

I nodded my head and closed the door, then darted over to the bed with perhaps just a little too much glee.

“What is it, Gran?” She’d done things like this before, but it was mostly concerning my quirky sense of fashion or what my painfully conventional mother had always called an “artistic temperament”.

She held out a bundle wrapped in old butcher paper and tied up with twine. I looked at her skittishly and rolled my eyes but she just smirked and waved for me to open it up. Inside was, as I said, a scrapbook; well, I suppose it was something like a pre-scrapbook. It was a simple leather-bound journal, obviously with some age on it, and I could see from the way the pages bulged that there were photos pasted or clipped or taped inside. I looked at her again asking a question with my eyes, and she answered in kind, indicating I should open it up.

Inside the front page sat a single photo, centered more or less perfectly, and clearly pasted to the paper. It showed a simple little cottage which had clearly been built in two sections; the roof over one side appeared to be thatch, the other was corrugated iron. Standing out front were three young women: the eldest appeared to be about sixteen, while the others were probably fourteen and twelve. The younger girls were in plain dresses, probably homemade; one had a kerchief on her head, and the other had taken it off and tied it around her neck. Between the two, her arms around their shoulders was the eldest girl, looking very mature in a skirt-suit and hat, her hair stylishly done beneath and a prim little purse in one hand hanging off of the younger girl’s shoulder. Beneath was a caption which in neat, handwritten cursive simply read, “Leaving Home, 1945” and beneath it, “Clifden, Co. Galway, Ireland”.

“That was the day I left home,” she said. “I actually added that one later, after your Aunt Mickaela sent the photo by post. International mail used to take ages back in those days.”

I nodded my head absently as I turned the page. Nothing could have prepared me for what I saw.

There’s a famous picture of a sailor kissing a nurse out in front of Radio City Music Hall on V-J Day. It’s iconic and is shown in most World War II documentaries and such. Like a lot of the photos I mentioned before, it’s artistic value is questionable: the couple are slightly off-center, his hand is obscuring almost all of her face, it’s not clear if she’s really into it (she wasn’t as it turned out, but his enthusiasm was probably understandable); but it captured a moment in history unlike any other, and the enthusiasm on the sailor’s face is attractive to us still today, so it seems to work.

Sitting there, on the second page of my grandma’s old scrapbook was the Irish version of that same image. They were out in front of a Dunne’s Department Store, I thought I might’ve even recognized it from my trips back home with Gran. The man was wearing a British military uniform, but that wasn’t unusual given Irish neutrality during the war. The woman was not wearing a nurse’s uniform, but in fact the same skirt-suit as in the previous picture. And the most startling thing of all was not that she was kissing a man just back from the war, nor even that the man wasn’t may grandad (he had fought but was already living over here), but that she was doing the kissing.

“Gran!” I cried out in a stage whisper. “Who is this?”

She giggled to herself. “I haven’t the foggiest idea! I didn’t at the time either. But when I arrived at the port at Cobh to take my passage to America, there was a ship arriving with soldiers left to help clean up in France after the war. Most had been gone for three or four years; many had families waiting for them, everyone was kissing, and I saw this poor fella all by his lonesome, and I figured he deserved at least as warm a homecoming as the rest.” She flushed slightly.

I looked back and forth between her and the picture. “But where did you get this one from? Surely your sisters didn’t send this too”

“Ah, Gawd no!” She laughed to herself. “No, I went off to Cobh by myself; mother said it would be easier that way. No, I found this in a back copy of the Irish Times they were using to wrap fish and chips at the AOH Hall where I met your Granddad.”

I laughed, beginning to flip through the book more generally. “Hang on here, Gran,” I said. “The captions stop.”

Now the real grin came out. I knew when she got that twinkle in her eye that she was up to something, and she could barely suppress her delight.

“That’s the whole point. At first I was going to try and document my journey to America, how I made my life here, and how I built my family. But then, after I saw that picture in the old newspaper, I saw how my life could have been different. So I started collecting pictures that didn’t fit; any shot that showed a turning point or time where life went one way but could have gone another. And when your Granddad or the kids would drive me too nuts, or the work at Gimbel’s would just seem too much, I’d pull this out and indulge in a little fantasizing.”

“And what did Grandpa think of all this?”

She chuckled to herself. “He never knew.”

I raised an eyebrow. “Seriously?”

She bobbed her head like a doll on a dashboard. “Absolutely. I kept no other secrets from your grandad. I was faithful to him for more than sixty years. But to keep the peace in our relationship I kept this scrapbook and every couple of months I’d pull this out and spend an afternoon just…imagining.”

I was moved, not only by the gift but by her trust in me. Impulsively I leaned forward and hugged her tight. She grunted slightly.

“Thank you, Gran.” I let her go and sat back. I looked down at the book. “What do you want me to do with it? Add my own pictures?”

Gran shook her head. “Of course not. Do what you do?”

“What I do?”

“What is it you call it?” She gave me that smirk again. “Deploy the pictures?”

“You want me to use them in ads?”

“If you can make any money off of them, then they’ll have done us both some good. If not, at least use them as I did, to imagine…other things.” Her voice lilted at the end and we laughed over it together.

I reached forward and hugged her again. This time, as we released, she leaned forward and gave me a kiss on the forehead.

“I love you, Dearie.”

“I love you too, Gran.”

And that was the last time we ever spoke. She was dead by the New Year.

Muffy Wilson's Review of Timing is Everything by Sybil Shae

What feeds hope more than love?
In love, as in war, timing is everything. Without it, we would all suffer from a lonely lifetime of six degrees of separation. Nothing happens until we meet, share a wistful glance, a brushing touch, a fleeing kiss or a heart beating as one. Have you ever thought of what might have happened if you chose another road or direction? Kissed a different man?
If you love toe-curling, heart-stopping, fast-paced eager romance, spanning time and overcoming obstacles, you will love this first release and introduction of Sybil Shae to the world of publishing.

Fall in love all over again, and again, because you will not be able to put this book down until you have embraced every word. And when you do? You’ll pick it up to read it again. Yes, it’s that good for what is better for the soul than a timeless romance? What feeds hope more than love? ~ MW

Passion burns bright when the night turns deadly...
Lies, betrayal and maybe a battery-operated boyfriend
She’s done with men. But someone needs to tell her wolf.
When Laurel’s Alpha female is found murdered and her Alpha turns up missing, the Briarwood Pack is turned upside down. An unwanted blast from Laurel’s romantic past puts her to the test as the fine line between love and hate is redefined. If she can keep herself alive. Love can be murder…unless it saves your life.

Nerdy, hunky boys with a knack for the dead need love too…
With his roommate back from the dead and his future as Montelier College of Witchcraft and Arcane Sciences new necromancer on staff on hold after his mentor’s murder, James Merryweather finds himself looking for answers in the one place he never thought to find them. And when a chance encounter leads him to his heart’s desire, will he have the strength to claim the woman he loves before she’s ripped from his arms forever?

“Something the matter?”“Headache. Sorry.”“You didn’t meet me for coffee. I was afraid you’d changed your mind.” His eyes locked with hers and they stopped moving. Her breath locked in her chest and all she could do was stare at his full and supremely kissable lips.“I’m sorry. Pack business.”And something had passed between them in the garden at the school. Something that made her want to explore this attraction, even if it was just to get it out of her system. They’d made it to the edge of the labyrinth in less time than she thought with no sign of the others. Her wolf rolled beneath her skin, desire for him pooling in her lady bits. The urge for some full on revenge sex to show him what he’d been missing out on sizzled through her, but as he reached out to touch her cheek, she found herself leaning forward. Her wolf cheered.“Oh.” He brushed a stray strand of hair from the side of her face. “I thought I’d never see you again. Not that I didn’t deserve that after what I did to you.”“No,” she blurted out, heat creeping up her cheeks. “I really wanted to see you.” And she had. Memories of their first and only chaste kiss as a teenager had grown into a bittersweet remembrance and she wondered what his lips tasted like now.“Good.”She nibbled on her lip, aware of her own body tightening in response to his heated gaze. Her wolf circled beneath her skin, as anxious to test their connection as she was.“It is?”Why couldn’t she form a coherent thought other than the dirty ones infiltrating her mind? Her wolf wanted him to throw her to the ground, tear off her jeans and mount him. Right here. Right now. She glanced down to find the hard ridge of his arousal evident against his jeans and she swallowed, her fingers itching to work the zipper and feel him against her palm. What the hell was wrong with her?“Mmm hmm.” He leaned forward and brushed his lips against hers. “It is.”His lips were soft and full and she wanted more. The piney scent of him reminded her of the surrounding woods and for a moment, she let the wolf inside her run free and lifted her face to his as he captured her lips again.*** “Rotten strawberries?” James frowned at his roommate.“Yup.” Cecil shrugged, pointing to the chair. He turned to the kitchen counter and rummaged around in a plastic grocery bag.“What am I supposed to do with that?”“What do you think, necromancer boy?” He twisted his upper body back in James’ direction and wiggled his fingers. “You know. Change it. Make it alive again.”Trying to mask his irritation, James slid into the chair. “Because I’m not trying to find a full time position as a necromancer, but I’ll take a job at a deli making fruit salad?”

Hello everyone. I’m Erzabet Bishop and I write paranormal and erotic romance. It’s great to be hanging out with you today on the blog and I hope you’ll reach out and visit me on Facebook and follow me on Twitter @erzabetbishop.
How long have you been a writer and how did you come to writing? I’ve been writing since I could remember. My first fiction was a vampire horror story when I was in grade school. Over the years I have played with different genres. Young adult, cowboy romances and urban fantasy, but one of my truest loves is paranormal romance.
How did you come up with this storyline? The story for Arcane evolved from the Curse Workers series and explores the relationship between Laurel, a wolf and her necromancer love interest, James Merryweather, a necromancer.
What are the best and the worst aspects of writing? The best? When you look at your finished baby and realize-I did that. The worst? Managing time to get everything done. The writing, marketing and edits.
What inspires you to write? My inner voices won’t shut up. Lol.
How did you conduct your research for Arcane? I did research on the study of bones for Map of Bones one of the earlier novellas in the series and the subject continued into this one.
What are 3 of your favorite quotes from Arcane? Bridget and Alistair:“Good morning yourself. A smile turned up the corners of her mouth and she had to fight the urge to bury her face against his chest. And lick him. If she licked him, he was hers. For keeps.Laurel and James:“Can you tell me how it feels when you shift?”Laurel cocked her head as if to consider what he was asking. “The first time hurts. But then after it’s something that no words can ever capture. You know that song that’s on the radio now? The one from Pete’s Dragon with all the violins?”“I do.”“That’s how it feels. Scary and wonderful and wild. It’s a force inside of you that won’t be denied. In your bones. Deep down and there’s nothing that will stand in the way.” Laurel facing down her Alpha:“Alpha?”A low growl came from the beast’s muzzle sending shivers down her spine. Even if she shifted she wouldn't be able to battle him in time. All she could do was try. She leapt into the air, allowing her wolf to emerge.
What would your friends say is your best quality?Perseverance. Loyalty. Hard working.
Are reader reviews important to you? Why?Yes. I like to know I’m writing books that readers enjoy. Being an author can at times feel pretty solitary. Reviews are the best way to tell an author you appreciate their work.
What do you do when you don’t write? Like in “Real Life”I am a manager in a bookstore, a dog mom and wife. Hobby wise I enjoy crochet and needlework and my TBR pile will one day crush me in my sleep.
Tell us about your other books?I have a large list of paranormal and erotic romance that can be found on my Amazon page. One of my favorite series are the Westmore Wolves books. All manner of shifters, vampires, gargoyles and fae reside in their world. I hope you check out the books if you get a chance.I am currently hard at work on several new books. Mallory’s Mark (Demons in Darkness series), Burning Midnight (Witching Hour series) and quite a few more top secret projects soon to be revealed.I also write paranormal romance with a little less heat under the name Dana Wright.
If you could share one thing about yourself that you would like readers to know what would it be? Dog rescue is very important to me and my life is pretty much run by the furry kids in my household. They outnumber me. Every day. Lol.
Thanks for having me on the blog today. I hope you will look me up on twitter and pop by the FB page to say hello. XOXOErzabet Bishop

Their love will be their strength.

Dark Melody
by
Megan J ParkerInternational Bestselling Author @ScarltSorceress

All she has ever known is pain.
Raised living in a lab as an experiment by twisted scientists, Talia has lost all hope at ever having a life worth living. When the lab goes under, Talia is given a chance at escape and finds herself in the strong embrace of heavy metal guitarist, David.
All he has ever known is music.
David has no idea what to do with the beautiful female who showed up at his doorstep. Having always put his band first, he has no experience with females. And while he knows he should be weary of her, he can't seem to break the strange attraction he feels towards her.
All they need is strength.
With Talia's captors on the hunt, both David and her will have to muster all the courage they can to protect a future for either one of them. But with hardly any experience in combat, will the two have enough strength be able to defeat the strong forces ahead?

Despite this, she didn’t let go of David’s hand, not yet wanting to leave the safety of his touch. Taking a deep breath, she looked over at him and smiled softly.“Thank you again for all of this, David,” she whispered.“It's no problem at all,” he smiled. She blushed at that. “I hope that remains true.”“Well if it doesn’t,” he offered with a smirk, “I think it’s only fair to say that any problems that come my way have even more problems in store for them.”Though she didn’t understand what he meant, Talia felt safer for it all the same. Riding on the warmth and happiness and comfort, she leaned forward and pressed a soft kiss to his cheek. While she had no experience (and she hoped it didn’t show) with kissing, she wanted to give him a token of her gratitude. It was, after all, how it was done in all of the romance novels. Common or not in stories, though, she felt him stiffen against her kiss and she pulled back, nervous that she had done something wrong.“I… I’m sorry,” she whispered. “I just wanted to show my thanks…”“It’s fine,” he said after a moment, touching the spot on his cheek and smiling warmly. “I’m just not used to… well, anything like this.”“I’m glad I’m not the only one,” Talia said, feeling both the warmth of a blush and a whole different type wash over her.“Then I suppose I won’t worry too much about trying this,” he said before pressing a kiss to her lips. The soft brush of his lips had her frozen in the moment. It felt perfect.Romance novels, she realized, had a funny way of glossing over the best parts. Finally, though she couldn’t be sure how much time had just passed, David’s lips left hers and the two shared another beautiful silence together.“Get some sleep, Talia,” David said in a comforting whisper as he helped her climb into the bed. “I’ll be right in the other room if you need me, okay?”Talia blushed again and nodded—realizing that she was experiencing the most warmth she ever had on the exact same night that she’d experienced the most cold—and wormed her way under the covers. When she was settled in, David offered her another first by telling her to sleep well before heading back into the other room. Once alone—but, she realized, not truly alone for the first time in her life—Talia moved her fingers to her lips and brushed the spot where David had kissed her. In the few short hours she’d known him he’d given her so many new experiences that she’d never even known she didn’t know about, but among of the things he’d shown her was the one thing she’d long known about but still never believed she’d ever come to experience.David had given her a kiss. The lips that David’s own had just touched curled into another smile—a gesture that was becoming so common for Talia that her cheeks were beginning to ache—and she quickly fell into another first for her:
A genuine and peaceful sleep.

Hi! As you may know (or see haha), my name’s Megan J. Parker. I’m currently an international bestselling author of paranormal romance and urban fantasy, but I dabble in various genres including contemporary romance, erotica, fantasy, and horror. I’m also a graphic designer and own my own company called EmCat Designs.
How long have you been a writer and how did you come to writing?I’ve been officially a writer since 2013 when my husband and fellow author, Nathan Squiers, finally pushed me to finish a chapter one. I always loved to write short stories or unfinished chapter ones (I swear, I could probably have a FULL novel if I collected all the unfinished chapter ones together). However, my husband finally pushed me to finish and I was able to publish my first novel, Scarlet Night, late 2013.
How did you come up with this storyline?    Well, funny thing, I LOVED the character David from my husband’s Death Metal series (that’s right! David isn’t technically my character). After some pleading (which really wasn’t that much), Nathan agreed to let me use David and write this story. I decided I wanted to write a heroine who had absolutely no idea about the world outside of her “cell” and that her only basis was from reading romance novels. The dynamic between David and Talia really helped me to tell their story.
What are the best and the worst aspects of writing? I think for me, at least, the best part of writing is being able to use my creativity and just sit down and tell a story. I’ve always loved storytelling in some form or another (movies, books, comics, etc.) and it’s honestly extremely therapeutic for me. For the worst parts, however, it’s sticking to telling one story. My mind is always coming up with new ideas (hence all the chapter ones), and I think that I have trouble trying to sit and work on ONE concept only.
What are 3 of your favorite quotes from **Dark Melody**?
Talia shook her head, but smiled all the same at the chance to learn a new word. “Huh,” she repeated, “Huh. Huh. Huh? Huh!” she made herself laugh as she voiced the last repetition with sternness and realized it sounded like an angry doctor’s sigh. Catching David still staring, she felt another wave of heat but felt the tug of her own smile. “It’s a fun word.”“You are so… different,” he said, still smiling.
***
Though she’d been confused by the terminology the first time she heard it, she saw now what David meant by it. And, both hearing and seeing music for the first time in her life, Talia decided that she didn’t like a word. David didn’t play music. He commandedmusic! He forged it, he conjured it! He was music!
***
“Then I suppose I won’t worry too much about trying this,” he said before pressing a kiss to her lips. The soft brush of his lips had her frozen in the moment. It felt perfect.Romance novels, she realized, had a funny way of glossing over the best parts. Finally, though she couldn’t be sure how much time had just passed, David’s lips left hers and the two shared another beautiful silence together.
What do you do when you don’t write? Like in “Real Life”My husband and I love to go to the movies, so if we aren’t out seeing a new movie, we are typically exploring the local comic shop, going to our tattoo/piercing shop, or spending time with our friends/family. We recently fell back in love with laser tag and we found a nearby laser tag place that is for adults only after 9PM so that’s been our Saturdays.
Tell us about your other books? I have several other books available, but the ones that I’m most known for are my Scarlet Night books. It’s a full trilogy (finished!) & book one is free on all e-book outlets. It’s a paranormal romance/urban fantasy with a “feisty” female vampire and her beastly lover. The first book is a slightly based on a Beauty and the Beast retelling. I also have a paranormal romance between a Russian mafia daughter and a male shifter who works under her father as a cage fighter called “Fighting for You” (which there will be a sequel for). I’m currently finishing the first book in a 7-part series called “Moonlit Seduction”. The series features seven highlander shifters searching for their mates to break a curse put upon their family and each book represents one of the brothers.
Thanks for reading! I hope you enjoy Dark Melody & check out some of my other works as well!

Megan J. Parker lives in upstate New York and is normally found lounging in the writing office with her husband and fellow author, Nathan Squiers. Since the debut of her first novel, Scarlet Night, Megan J. Parker has gained international recognition and has been a bestseller in paranormal romance and dark fantasy. Her first novel, Scarlet Night, also was a runner up for 2013’s Best New Series Award on the blog, Paranormal Craving.

Call Of The Beast by Erica ReederInternational Bestselling Author
Call Of The Beast
by
Erica Reeder
International Bestselling Author@_ericareeder

Love turns to blood when Shiloh, Alpha of the Catskill Wolf Pack, meets newcomer Austin Turner. Her beast wants the mouthwatering werewolf with a desire like she’s never known. And despite the tattoos running up and down his arms, he seems like the perfect mate. That is until mysterious things start happening in the pack. Then Shiloh finds herself in a race to find out where the violence is coming from, and all signs point to him. Can she stop the violence? Or will her hunger for Austin leave the blood of her own pack on her hands?

“I’ve been dying to kiss you ever since I laid eyes on you.” He said his admission a siren’s call in the quiet of the night. “May I?”What would the pack think? Their leader kissing a relative unknown. Uncertainty clouded my judgment for the first time in forever. I looked back to the pack and realized we were alone in the clearing. Shouts of laughter and howls could be heard deep in the woods. They were off doing God knew what.If there was ever a time to taste those incredible lips, now was it. Every nerve stood on end as I swallowed. It felt very surreal to say, “You may.”My beast stood up and cocked her head. He slid toward me in the night. She stalked closer to the surface. Was this really happening?I’m usually the aggressive one in sexual situations, but this time I just waited. Waited to see what he would do. The anticipation ratcheted as he brought his hand up to cup my jaw line. The tips of his fingers reached my ear. I forgot to breathe as his finger caressed my earlobe. Then there were his lips. They came ever closer, inch by inch. My lips ached for him. He stopped though and just stared at me. I could almost see the stars reflected in his eyes.“You’re breathtaking,” he whispered against my lips. Then he answered my prayers and closed the space between us.It was delicate at first. The softness of his lips played against mine: touching, tasting. It was heaven. The world fell away as my eyes closed.Every fiber of my body was focused on the way his lips slipped over mine. My mind spun as he pulled me closer still. The heat of his body seared me. I nipped at his lips. He wasn’t close enough. Urgency flooded through me. I pulled at him. Groaning, he molded his lips to mine.Desperate for more of him, I opened my mouth. My breath hitched as our lips and tongues danced. Heat flooded through me. My beast reached for him through our lips. She wasn’t the only one either. I tasted the dusky earthiness of his own beast as he reached for mine.

Hi! My name is Erica Reeder. But you don’t want to know just my name, do you? You want to know me. The REAL me. Not the veneered person from the picture. Well, you’re in luck- this is your chance!! And if these questions don’t satisfy you, my books certainly will. ;) (If you know what I mean! *wink, wink- nudge, nudge*)
How long have you been a writer and how did you come to writing? I have been writing for forever. Well, pretty close. I have been writing for 24 years. I know that makes me seem like I’m 100 years old, but it’s not quite that dramatic. I started writing in 6th grade. I won Young Authors and it opened up a whole new world (cue the Aladdin music!) I was all, “Wow, I REALLY enjoyed writing that! Wait…people LIKED it? Hold on, you’re saying I can do this for a LIVING?! Sign me up!!!” And the rest, as they say, is history.
How did you come up with this storyline?  I’ve been knocking around the idea of a female alpha who wears heels for quite some time. I love the idea of a strong woman leading the pack and completely reversing gender roles. It’s so important to me that she be feminine too. It gets so old this idea that only manly women can be strong. Screw that- put on some heels and work it! Anyway, I had the chance to write that character, Shiloh, in my last book, Nevermore. She kept calling to me, so I stopped what I was doing and gave her this story.
What are the best and the worst aspects of writing? The best aspect of writing is when I’m writing I understand everything in the world I’m creating. Good. Bad. Innocent. Evil. It all has a reason. It all has a place. That is so attractive to me because I don’t always understand the world we are in. Senseless things happen everyday. I like reason and logic. You might be asking what that has to do with Paranormal and Fantasy. That’s a damn good question! And that’s where I get to be me! I crave the impossible and the infinite possibilities that go along with the thought, “What if the impossible WERE possible?” How much fun would that be?! Those are the best parts of writing to me. The worst aspect of writing is trying to revise the story on the page to match what’s in my head. There’s so much I want to put in, but as a writer you can only include what moves the story forward with only a few auxiliary pieces sprinkled in. That can make the process painful!!!
What inspires you to write? Sanity. If I don’t write for awhile, I start to become bitey. I get irritated easily and unhappy. It’s like my brain forgets why until I write again. Then it all comes back like, “Oh, that’s right. I need to write to not be a jerk!” I can’t be sane without it!
If you were to write a book about yourself, what would you name it? Do You Want To Touch Me There? An Inspiring Tale of Freedom, Faith, and Glitter
What are 3 of your favorite lines from Call of the Beast: Head over Heels? “Austin Turner had lips that screamed of ecstasy. They called to me: taste me, touch me.”“He broke our kiss only long enough to toss my shirt and lace bra to the ground. I took the same amount of time to grab his shirt by each side and rip. Buttons popped and fell onto the wood floor like rain.“My beast bumped against me when she noticed it was just him and I alone in the woods. She thought she was going to get what she wanted. Get what she’d been begging for since she’d smelled him. She whispered to me, Take him.” What would your friends say is your best quality? My sense of humor.
Are reader reviews important to you? Why? Reader Reviews couldn’t be more important. First it’s direct feedback. If a reader doesn’t like something, I need to know so I can change it. I write to entertain, so if I’m not succeeding, there is a big problem! If there are too many poor reviews, I’ll actually revise an entire book!! It’s also important on the business side of things. Reviews can sway a reader’s opinion on whether to buy a book or not. And being able to continue to do what I love means the world to me.
Name one funny trait your have that you would like others to know. I have the uncanny ability to turn almost anything into a sexual innuendo. It’s my super power.
Favorite place to eat?In bed
If you were one piece of clothing, what would you be?A skort, because I’m the cute of a skirt but can’t restrain myself enough from fun to be anything other than shorts beneath it all.
Tell us about your other books? My main series is about a faerie princess who doesn’t want to be a faerie princess. She’s been living away from faeries for some time and is a kick-butt bounty hunter now. The series starts out with her taking the case of a murdered faerie. During the case, unbeknownst to her she falls for her mortal enemy. I love the series because her wit and attitude leave me rolling.
You can check out Violet Chaser, the first in the series, here: https://www.amazon.com/Violet-Chaser-episodes-Erica-Reeder-ebook/dp/B01A6B5MFA/ref=sr_1_1?s=digital-text&ie=UTF8&qid=1452087877&sr=1-1&keywords=violet+chaser
Or if you’ve already read that one, you can pick up Nevermore, the second, here:https://www.amazon.com/Nevermore-Faerie-Princess-Urban-Fantasy-ebook/product-reviews/B01LZ5P2KM/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_viewopt_rvwer?ie=UTF8&reviewerType=all_reviews&pageNumber=1
If you could share one thing about yourself that you would like readers to know what would it be? I love glitter. Ok, love doesn’t quite cut it. Obsessed. Yeah, that’s closer. Nothing makes me happier than seeing my glitter all over everything: my kid, my husband, my yoga mat, my keyboard- you name it. It makes me happy every time. And that isn’t an exaggeration!
Other things you never wanted to know about the REAL me: I don’t think anyone ever sat down and explained the word “Boundaries” to me because I don’t have any. The ones I do have are just ones that I have to force myself to acknowledge to be a decent person. I always joke that I need to establish more boundaries because the ones I have are like lines in the sand. Someone keeps rubbing them out! (See- I told you. I can’t help it!)
And because this is my interview, here is a random list of things I love:
GlitterCatsFamilyVampiresHair PullingJeepsLaughingFriendsFaeriesHandcuffsA Man’s ChestWhisperingMusic – which music fluctuates based on my mood. I’m this loving right now. It makes me laugh and is catchy as hell. Besides, Joan Jett, come on she’s awesome!
That’s all for now. Come on over and see me at www.facebook.com/authorericareeder. We’ll have more fun there!

Erica Reeder spends her free time…wait- what free time?! In her mind, she’d spend it taking trips and playing on the beach with her son and husband. In reality, her time is filled with cooking up kooky characters and scheming plot twists, sprinkled in with playing The Sims and a healthy dose of family time.

Margaret Daly: Dùsgadh: Essence of Life by Margaret A. Daly @mdaly_margaret #RUKIA #RRBC #ASMSG

DùsgadhEssence of LifebyMargaret A. Daly
(@mdaly_margaret)Blurb:
Praise for Dusgadh: Essence of Life"...dare I say I can see something of the Harry Potter series about this book and its focus on one individual who although from a dysfunctional background has a natural gift for magic and the paranormal." ~Nick Bishop
Ember Malloch has no idea her life is about to get turned upside down. Besides the fact that she sees the dead on occasion, she lives an ordinary mundane life.
Her sister warned her not to provoke the spirits, but Ember has a mind of herown and she defies Becky at every turn. Now, her life as she knows it will bechanged forever, as an unbridled strength is unleashed upon her.
She will have an awakening like no other as she learns her past, and discovers

who she is...
About the Author:
Margaret Daly was brought up in the hills of West Sparta, New York. She experienced tragedy in her young life when a fire destroyed her home. Everything was lost from a young age. So this lady really does know what hardship is and what the wrong decisions in life can do to you, as well as how this can deeply affect an adult life too.Daly freely admits to making wrong decisions in life from an early age. She states that she had a great understanding of the unfairness of life and how it can disappoint; she is the real deal when it comes to real-life experiences of tragic events. However, at the age of forty-three she managed to have her first book published. With the release of Dusgadh: Essence Of Life it seems she has taken a positive step in being on the right road in life as this book is part of a promising trilogy concerning young Ember and her adventures.Daly has the loving support of four children and a loving husband, which say says makes for a conducive atmosphere to pen books such as this novel. In the book review I drew comparisons between Daly's book and J K Rowling's books about the young wizard Harry Potter, and how Daly's book will appeal to the same age group older children and teenagers that like the Potter books.I also draw comparison with Rowling and Daly also in the fact that both come from relatively obscure backgrounds and experienced how hard life can be, something Rowling used to create the Potter books and subsequently enjoyed enormous success with them, both in book and film form. Could the same happen with Daly? Well I really think it could be a possibility but that’s for the future.Right now, Margaret Daly is, it seems, where she wants to be with the book, on the pinnacle of success and with a loving family behind her.Feature by Nick BishopSee the book in the shop: http://bit.ly/WTShopDusgadh

She never dreamed there'd be dragons...

When the Snow Flies
byKiki Howell and Gina Kincade
USA Today Bestselling and Award Winning Authors
@KikiHowell7   and   @GinaKincade

On a spiritual journey to heal after a tragic accident, Anna thought the worst that could happen while walking in a labyrinth was to be taken by a stranger. A human stranger. Little did she know her meditation would capture the attention of dragons.

A few more deep breaths later, she shivered violently, but began her trek around the labyrinth. She stumbled over the stones that edged the pathway a few times when patches of clouds blocked out the moon’s light. Looking up, she expected to just see a glimmer of white brilliance fighting to shine through the delicate filaments that had become infused with dark grey matter. Instead, a shadow flew over her. One too large to be anything her mind could figure out.She hadn’t realized that she’d fallen to a crouch until her body swayed as she looked up, trying to get a better impression of what had to be a plane or something descending to the earth. Strangely, she hadn’t heard a sound. In fact, the eerie silence unnerved her further. Her trembling fingers pressed against the frigid dirt as her only source of support. Falling to her butt as her gaze followed the tremendous mass, she made out a body too rounded for a plane, with wings too animal-like to be inanimate. In a split second, a scream lodged in her throat as the wing things flapped, rustling the tree branches with sudden gusts of air. A long tail seemed to follow behind, swinging to one side as it glided effortlessly around to come back her way, losing altitude as the thing moved. She stayed in that odd position, seated on the ground, body curled up, with one arm back behind her holding her up as she used the other one to cover her face while the ground shook beneath her when the beast landed maybe ten feet away. With her heart pounding so hard she could hear the erratic beat of the damned thing in her head, she blinked several times as the image before her registered to fantastical proportions. The fact that Anna saw something out of a storybook or a fairy tale made the only sense her perceptions could come up with, and that unnerved her. So much so, she was wound up like a clock about to explode, spewing gears and gadgets all over the place. The analogy for her head being about to explode based on an image from an old cartoon she’d watched as a child gave her pause. A moment of lunacy that served as a much needed reprieve, since reality didn’t make any sense at all.Coping mechanisms. She’d heard a lot about them in therapy. In fact, she’d basically left the practice since she hadn’t been ready to give them up. Snippets of songs would come into her head now, memories from childhood of dancing like a loon in the kitchen with her mother when holidays provided long days of baking. These created a preoccupation with remembering every word of the tune, looking up the video, studying the career of the singer, all in an attempt to calm the sudden onslaught of tears. To numb the painful ache in her chest. At times, she raged at her body. Her heart had the audacity to feel like it had stopped beating, if even for a second. Her lungs deflated, ceased to do their job. All of these sensations served as a tease when she had to remain in this life, too squeamish, too much a coward, to end her own existence though she’d failed their suicide test more than a few times. The desire to find peace in the afterlife with her lost family got trampled by a lesson on suicide and sin her mother had once taught her. Though, she didn’t even know what or if she believed anymore as far as beliefs went, anything to do with faith and religion.. The closest thing she’d come to prayer was the screaming in her head. The raging at some invisible entity around her so-called life. This confusion continued, rattling her to her core, as this thing, whatever the hell it was—and hell born it could be, given its monstrous size and shape—stared at her. Metal-colored eyes glistened in the faint, cloud-infused moonlight. The size of footballs, they blinked in a never-ending gaze that mesmerized her. The world seemed to spin as millions of overacting nerve cells tensed her muscles to run. Yet, she didn’t move for some strange fear of being swallowed up whole or burnt to a crisp like in those stories of dragons. Sadly, as her eyes focused, the more this thing as tall as a house resembled just such a mythic creature. It seemed the fundamental law guiding her decision to remain a statue was the thought that if prey moved, it got eaten.

Kiki & Gina
Kiki: Hello! Thanks for having us.  Gina: Yes, thank you for having us both on. We are a team again for this one.
How long have you been a writer and how did you come to writing?  Kiki: Well, we have been writing together for a few years now. Gina: But, separately we have been writing much, much longer.
How did you come up with this storyline?  Gina: We toss back and forth ideas all the time. I think this time that Kiki came up with an idea about a dragon shifter, and the whole labyrinth, healing meditation, thing.  Kiki: Yes, I actually have this non-fiction book of spells to contact dragons. In it the lady tells you all about the dragons she met that way. So, I found the book interesting and inspiring. Then, Gina started building off of my idea, and off we went again!!!         What are the best and the worst aspects of writing?  Kiki: I would say editing and blurb writing, but Gina is great at both of those, so again, another reason we work so well together. What inspires you to write?  Gina: I think I can answer for both of us when I say, anything and everything is fair game. And, some of the stuff is just a wild imagination that never stops. We've discussed this before.
How did you conduct your research for **When the Snow Flies**? Kiki: Well, I will admit to being the research junkie. Spend way too much time doing so. Mostly books I get my magic information from, but internet searches helps too. A perk of writing paranormal is the info on the internet need not be true. *winks*
What are 3 of your favorite quotes from **When the Snow Flies**?  Gina: Now that would be like asking us which is our favorite child.
What would your friends say is your best quality?  Kiki: I met Gina when she read one of my stories about ten years ago now. Next she published one of my stories. Beyond the work relationship though, we became quick friends. She is so caring, so willing to listen, to offer help, professionally and personally. She is trustworthy, a workaholic, and just has such a big heart. She does so much for so many.  Gina: Kiki and I are a lot alike, in so many ways, and all those things she listed about me, I could say of her, and then go on and on about how sweet she is, how willing to work, etc. I just wish she lived closer. Kiki: Me too. *hugs*
Are reader reviews important to you? Why? Gina: Of course. They are everything. I don't think anyone realizes how much they help authors. And, while reading a good review is amazing, an author can use even the bad one constructively in future writing.
What do you do when you don’t write? Like in “Real Life” Kiki: For me, I spend time with family, read, knit or other crafts when I'm lucky enough to find the time, and have become obsessed with the adult coloring books. Oh, and I started teaching yoga recently.  Gina: My kids are younger than Kiki's, well two of them are, so lots of time taking care of family, I love to cook, and read of course. Lots of other things I could list if only I had the time to do them.
Tell us about your other books?  Kiki: We have written two other paranormal stories together, which are novel length. What Lies Within UsOn Amazon and A Modern Day Witch HuntOn Amazon Gina: We have also written a novella called Cowboy Boots and HandcuffsOn Amazonthe first in a planned collection of steamy contemporary western romance books Gina: Thanks again for having us both on today.
