WANT TO HEAR ABOUT WHAT A CLEANSE IS LIKE?

If you’ve never done a food-and-drink based cleanse, here’s a great way to learn why people love them so much. Go here and listen to a fun interview I did with Goddess Oceana, a dear friend and frequent member of my online group cleanses. In it, you’ll not only here what it feels like to do a cleanse, unique challenges that do (and don’t) appear during a cleanse, you’ll also learn some of the reasons I insist on gentleness (hint: it helps your body feel safe so you can let go), gloriously full cupboards and tons of restaurant options. You’ll also hear Oceana’s interesting take on the intuition and fun “woo woo” benefits of participating in The 21-Day New Year’s Cleanse.

We have room for about three more wonderful people. If you would like to be one of them, today is a great day to dive in! You can go here and use the code BEAUTY for $100 off. (The code expires at midnight.)

Much love!

Happy New Year!….and Happy Birthday

Hello Gorgeous!

Happy New Year!….and Happy Birthday! It’s my birthday and I am so excited to experience another year with you!

One of my favorite parts of my work is detox programs. I love the fit, lithe, motivated, creative, lighter feeling I get after a gentle detox (nothing crazy—as you’ll learn, I am not an extremist). Not only is my mind clearer, my mood is more even, my weight is lower, my body is more toned and taut, my sleep is deeper, and I have so much energy I can easily plow through my writing work and private client sessions, with plenty of time left over for my three sons, and charity work.

I also love working in a group with like-minded, friendly, smart, health-oriented people. If I can combine both—as I do in The New Year’s Cleanse, which runs from January 23 to February 13, 2016 —I am one happy woman.

I created The 21-Day New Year’s Cleanse as a fast, foundational, simple, and incredibly powerful “all-levels” detox—perfect for resetting your health and weight after the decadent food and drink you may have over-enjoyed this holiday season. My goal is to get you “in and out” of a detox easily and fast, with measurable results.

Every step works in synergy with the step before and after it, to create massive results. You’ll jumpstart your weight loss, release fat and flush toxins (which can cause everything from brain fog, lessened creativity, moodiness, puffiness and bloat, cravings, skin glitches, and fatigue).

My clients are a mix of busy spiritual and health practioners, parents, entertainers and business types. They need a detox that is not only going to work—and work well—but work without the headaches, jitters or digestive issues that can chain people to their homes (and bathrooms). The 21-Day New Year’s Cleanse is designed to effectively, thoroughly, and elegantly help you rid yourself of the toxic load that is keeping you from the powerful, vibrant, healthy, high-energy life you deserve.

The 21-Day New Year’s Cleanse may not be for you. This is fine. Or it may be for you and you may have no interest whatsoever in it. This is also fine. For you, go here for a special story (with three recipes) on how to eat healthfully, deliciously and economically in the New Year.

For anyone who knows The 21-Day New Year’s Cleanse is something you want to do, you can go straight here and register. (Use the code BEAUTY and get $100 off—my birthday gift to you.)

For anyone who is curious about The 21-Day New Year’s Cleanse but not quite sure if it is for you or not, you can go here to learn more.

Have a beautiful day! And a gorgeous start to this wonderful new year!

Much love,

Happy New Year, Beauty!

I am so glad to share another year with you!

What do you plan on putting in place now to ensure that this year is as fabulous (or even more so) than last year?

I know, I know….. Resolutions get a bad rap. But I, for one, adore them. That said, I know that in the real world, more people make resolutions than actually achieve their resolutions.

Did you know that, according to statics (these are from Harris Interactive), 45 percent of adults make at least one New Year’s resolution? Sixty six percent of these resolution makers make a health-related goal—but by the end of January, one in three of these people have already given up. Just as depressing, by the end of the year, only 27 percent have reached their goal.

How can you make sure you’re one of the goal-achieving 27 percent? According to psychologists, the secret weapon of people who achieve their goals is accountability. Being held accountable to—and for—your resolution helps ensure that you actually achieve what you say you want to achieve.

But how do you go about finding accountability for your health goal?

For any of you who are making a health-related resolution, keep reading: I have just the thing to make sure you set yourself up for long-term success: My 21-Day New Year’s Cleanse, which runs from January 23 through February 13, 2016.

Whether your goal is to reboot your eating, adopt a healthier whole foods diet, ditch your fierce cravings, heal your skin, address a health condition, enjoy more energy, change your looks or lose weight, the 21-Day New Year’s Cleanse will help you.

Cleanses, aka detoxes or reboots, work by removing foods that cause water retention, weight gain, puffiness, skin conditions, inflammation and cravings. Some cleanses (such as mine), add in physical activities, mindset work and foods that help your body naturally flush environmental and food toxins, so that you reset to “natural” and enjoy the energy, looks and weight you were meant to enjoy.

I run a 21-Day New Year’s Cleanse online group program every single January. (I run shorter cleanses throughout the year, but The 21-Day New Year’s Cleanse is my favorite.) Last year, we had 27 members, some of whom healed their eczema, cured their acne, dropped two dress sizes, lost up to 13 pounds, gave up sugar, lowered their blood sugar and blood pressure and cholesterol levels and finally experienced life without cravings, sleep deprivation, brain fog and fatigue.

Many of last year’s participants went on to work with me in other programs, but many did not. And that’s just fine with me. The 21-Day New Year’s Cleanse gave them everything they needed to go on and reach their goals on their own, from food education to training in cause-and-effect, as well as help in learning how to listen to their bodies.

That’s because more than anything, I am a teacher. I want you to come away from The 21-Day New Year’s Cleanse knowing foods to eat (and what foods to avoid) when you need to quickly flush bloat-making water weight, ward off cravings and “cancel out” an over-indulgent night out.

Look for more information about the 21-Day New Year’s Cleanse in upcoming newsletters. Or go here to take a detox quiz, learn more about the nets and bolts of how my online program works and to sign up.

If you register now, you can use the code BEAUTY to get $100 off.

Have a fabulous New Year’s celebration! I cannot wait to share this healthy New Year with you!

Much love,

HAPPY LAST DAYS OF 2015!

Let’s enjoy the last days of this brilliant year and get ready to welcome in another!

Dear Gorgeous One,

Can I ask you a question?

How are you?

How are you really?

We’ve come to the close of 2015. It’s a wise time to look back on yourself and your year and ask a few wonderful questions, such as: Have you loved and learned from the last year’s lessons? Are you in a happy place with your health, your body, your energy levels and your acceptance of yourself and those around you?

Do you bound out of bed each day, excited for the chance at another glorious day?

How are your energy levels? Strong, steady, calm and good? Can you get through a day without having to chemically tinker with your nervous system using stimulants like coffee or sugar or depressants such as alcohol or sedatives? Further, can you get through a day without snapping at a child, being impatient with a co-worker, over-reacting with a lover, or zoning out when someone is trying to share with you?

Do you love what you saw in the mirror? Flawless, glowing, blemish-free complexion? Clear, bright, light-filled eyes? Well behaved hair and nails? A body free of dimples and blemishes and puffiness and pouchiness?

Did you have a great time choosing today’s outfit—knowing your clothes not only fit you, but flattered your assets and played up your good looks?

If all is good with you, you can stop reading! This letter isn’t for you. (And I hope this is the kind of 2015 you have had, because nothing—nothing—beats being centered, feeling calm and energetic, and looking your best. This trio creates an unbelievably powerful, intoxicating feeling. A feeling that allows you to show up in the world in an amazing, big way. )

For the rest of you, keep reading.

If you’re like a lot of people, 2015 started out strong, but then something happened. Your energy dipped around March and never came back. Or maybe you lost some weight your body didn’t need early in the year, but it has crept back on over the last few months. Or perhaps you were diagnosed with a health condition and still haven’t quite figured out how to bounce back. Or it could be you just don’t feel anything. You’re numb with a soul-killing case of the blahs.

I have something I use to address all of these things. Something that helps me feel better than ever, does great things for my looks and—more on this in days to come—cleans you up so you are open to spirit. (Yes, eating and spiritual energy are intrinsically linked.) It’s called a cleanse. And I run one a 21-Day Cleanse every single January to help myself and my friends begin the New Year in a healthy, energetic, powerful way.

Specifically, The New Year’s 21-Day Cleanse, a nutritionist-supported program designed to jumpstart your weight loss, put you on the road to better eating, and get you clean, powerful and healthy in 21 days.

The New Year’s 21-Day Cleanse is a full-support group program that allows you to party your way through physical transformation. Use the code BEAUTY and get $100 off! For more information, or to register, go here. To find out if you could benefit from The New Year’s 21-Day Cleanse, be sure to take the quiz, here.

Treat Your Hostess Well!

dinner-tag-1573389Whether it’s a casual Sunday brunch or a formal holiday dinner, hosting a get-together isn’t for the faint of heart. Which is why so many of us choose not to play hostess at all: It’s too stressful!

It’s true—being a guest is so, so, so much easier! But being the recipient of someone else’s hospitality comes with a few obligations. Nothing difficult. Just a bit of thoughtful, gratitude-showing, common sense. The first of which is the Hostess Gift.

If you are a guest, it is your job to bring a Hostess Gift. Bringing a little something for the host or hostess is the most basic way to show your gratitude. As obvious as this may seem, you’d be surprised at how many people show up without a gift in hand. Blame bad breeding, lack of time, low funds or simple forgetfulness for overlooking this important ritual, but in reality, there is no excuse for not presenting your host with a little something. Fortunately, there are ways to make finding and giving the all-important hostess gift easier:

* Make something that can be served immediately. Notice I said “make something.” Not “make something outrageously difficult and expensive.” A quart of hand-pressed cranberry juice in a pretty glass pitcher is a great gift. As is a batch of cookies or a cake.

* Pick up a food item or bottle of something on the way to the party. You can even text your hostess to see if there is something specific she needs.

* Make a “next day” treat just for the hostess. Bake up a batch of something wonderful that the host or hostess can enjoy for breakfast the next day or with their afternoon tea.

* Bring a centerpiece: Not a cook? Bring a bouquet of flowers in a pretty vase, gather leaves and pinecones and make something arty, find a few pretty rocks and tuck them into a clever jar. Or do something else!

* Offer your services. Present a hand-made gift certificate good for house cleaning, dog walking, baby sitting, car washing, skirt hemming or anything else you think your host may love help with. Be sure to cheerfully make yourself available when it comes time to make good!

* Buy a stack of affordable gifts then pre-wrap them and place them in an accessible spot. When you’re running late to your next gala, grab a gift on your way out the door. Easy! Small, gift-sized cookbooks are great options. One of my favorites is my own photo-filled cookbook, The Pumpkin Pie Spice Cookbook (Sterling Publisher), which is currently going for about $8 and change at Amazon.

Kale Chips

Serves 4

home-baked-kale-chipsThese are a low calorie nutritious snack. Like potato chips, you cannot stop at just eating one. They are great for parties and a good conversation topic. They’re also loaded with vitamins, minerals, phytonutrients and fiber. This one comes from my book Kale: A Complete Guide To The World’s Most Powerful Superfood, (Sterling, 2013)

1 bunch kale

2 teaspoons extra virgin olive oil or coconut oil

1 teaspoon seasoned salt

1. Preheat an oven to 350 degrees F.

2. Line a non insulated cookie sheet with parchment paper.

3. With a knife or kitchen shears carefully remove the leaves from the thick stems and

tear into bite size pieces. Wash and thoroughly dry kale with a salad spinner. Drizzle kale

with olive oil and sprinkle with seasoning salt.

4. Bake for five minutes, then turn leaves.

5. Bake another 5 to 10 minutes, until the edges brown but not burnt. Allow to cool on

baking sheet.

Hello Gorgeous!

Did you know that by spending a week now—going deep and taking exquisite care of your health and weight—you can change the entire trajectory of your holidays and your new year. It’s true. No more Thanksgiving weekend cravings. No more winter holiday bloat. No more weight gain or dark circles or crappy sleep or unhealthy-looking skin. You can simply opt out of all the holiday health-sapping drama by spending a week taking great care of yourself. More on that in just a bit.

American Thanksgiving is days away, the December holidays are almost upon us, New Year’s is just weeks away, and you, my gorgeous friend, are ready for this to be the most attractive, healthy season of your life!

But unfortunately, you’re still bloated from the summer or the cool weather carb cravings that have overtaken you. Maybe you even gained a bit of weight. You feel sluggish from too much sugar and alcohol. Your face is puffy and there are bags under your eyes. You’re slow and foggy, your skin doesn’t look good, your eyes are dull and you’re not sleeping well. And even worse than that, are the cravings! Yep, you want a double latte and a muffin. Right this instant!!!

Don’t despair. Taking on excess weight and puffiness during cold weather is a very common thing. After all, during the summer (and our crazy autumns!), most people ingest countless pounds of sugar, alcohol, additives and other not-so-perfect ingredients that continue to affect your mood, your energy levels, your waistline, your skin, your looks, and your health. It is what it is. So stop beating yourself up.

Instead, why not do something to change all this now, shall we? October has just passed and the winter holidays are days away…. let’s focus on the great things we can do for ourselves right this moment and get ourselves ready for the upcoming holidays in a big, fun way.

It’s called The 7-Day Superfood Cleanse, my online group detox program featuring everyday foods and beverages used in a strategic way to help you lose the bloat, drop the weight, increase your energy levels, reboot your eating and so, so, so much more. We’re partying online from Thursday, November 12 (a prep day) through Friday, November 20 (a post-detox party day). Yep, you’ll be done before the weekend starts!

Let’s jump into this season with full-force enthusiasm! Let’s take 7 days (plus bonus prep and integration days) right now to ditch the toxins, clean up our diet and our looks and feel energetic, lean and oh, so, sexy. Do that and you’ll be on your way to making this season the season that you stop hiding behind maxi skirts, long blouses, beach coverups and multiple layers and instead start having the time of your life.

Yay, you!

Let’s take 7 days to make this holiday season different!

Let me show you how a fast-yet-powerful detox, such as The 7-Day Superfood Cleanse, can help you have the healthy body of your dreams.

Much love,

xoxox

P.S. I’ve taken thousands of people through my detoxes. I love detoxing so much that I was asked to write a book on my cleanse! Check out 7-Day Superfood Cleanse (Sterling Publishers).
