It’s a full on month as usual! It’s time for self nurturing and the nurturing of others and the Planet. There may be some problems with this stoking other peoples pain. If some people close to you see you changing and growing it can make them feel insecure, be as loving and compassionate as possible. This can also be reflected on a Universal level, we may see some cultures clashing over issues involving secrecy and repression. We really are in powerful astrological times, it’s exciting, exhilarating and also can be very challenging. One Easy Step to Access Deep Intuitive Wisdom (on any subject!)

All of us need guidance or simply more insight into a particular situation at some time or another. Or we may just be looking to hone our own psychic skills. I believe firmly in de-mystifying the intuitive process simply because I know that intuition is something we are all born with. When we were very young we used to access this ability without thinking about it. However, unless we are very lucky, as we get older we find we are discouraged from doing this. But the fact is, whether we know it or not, our intuition is constantly feeding us information about people, situations or providing us answers to the questions we are asking. All we need to do is tap back into it and it isn’t as difficult as many of us may think whether we consider ourselves ‘psychic’ or not.

Are you ready to try it? The only thing you’re going to need is a notebook and pen for this. The reason I’m asking you to do this is so that you can gain confidence in the answers your intuition is giving you. Unless you write them down you are unlikely to remember every detail and also there is the danger that you may dismiss something your intuition tells you. Often information you’ve dismissed turns out to be accurate and relevant when you re-read it later.

Decide on your question. This is a must! It’s no use being ambiguous otherwise you won’t get a clear answer. And asking questions like ‘Will I ever meet my soul partner?’ isn’t useful as the answer may well be yes, but you have not given your intuition a framework within which to work (yes, but when you are 40 and you’re now 24 is counter-productive!). Frame a question around something you need to know about RIGHT NOW. An example would be: ‘Is there anything additional I need to know about my work presentation in two weeks’ time to ensure I get the result I am after?’ or ‘What insights do I need to enable me to make a soul-connection to a potential partner?’.

Now, take your focus off your question and let your focus go deep into your body to the place you know is your intuitive ‘core’. This is usually one of your chakras and the chakra can vary so please don’t think you are doing something wrong if you feel your ‘core’ isn’t where it should be. It’s your core – not someone else’s and there is no right or wrong place for it to be!

Now, take a deep breath and expand your focus out from your core until you reach your skin. What do you notice? What feelings, sensations, thoughts are running through your body/mind? Where is your attention now you have moved it away from your core? Just mentally note this for now.

Next, expand your focus out from your body to all that you can see, hear and feel around you. This can be the room you are in or as far as you can see if you are outdoors. Again, now your focus is ‘bigger’ what are you noticing? What sensations do you notice and most importantly, what kind of thoughts, memories or associations are you coming up with? Again, mentally note this down.

Finally, expand your focus as far as it wishes to go. Beyond the room you’re in, what you can see, hear, feel and sense right now. Perhaps it doesn’t want to go any further and if so that’s fine. But if your attention wants to take you on a mental journey somewhere – be it to another place/country/solar system/dimension that’s fine too. Once more notice what you perceive and above all, what you intuitively know about where you are and where or what your attention is on at each stage.

Return your attention back to you and write down everything – and I do mean everything you saw, felt, sensed, knew, connected or remembered during this exercise.

And that’s it. Your attention and where it took you has provided you with the answer to your question. At its most basic this is known as ‘free association’. On the surface there may be no apparent connection to your question and where your attention wandered. But as you write down everything you’ll start to make connections.

You can use this powerful one-step tool to obtain insights into any area of your life whether it’s family, love, career or money and after a while you’ll be truly amazed at the connections your intuition makes to deliver you the knowledge you’re seeking.

Meeting your Spirit Guide and Guardian Angel

I’m talking tonight on BBC Birmingham on Guardian Angels and Spirit guides so thought I would post this very popular old article about it. Tell me your story!

Meeting your Spirit Guide or finding your guardian angel is a quick and easy fast track to wisdom and protection. It isn’t some complicated procedure or some spooky ritual that leads you to your inner guide, in fact your guide is probably hanging around waiting to commune with you, like a spiritual Google!

A Spirit guide is not here to control your life or advise you in ways that have not occurred to you.  Rather, in my experience, they are a bit like a spiritual therapist in that they mostly let you work things out for yourself by giving you gems of knowledge to lead you to your inner truth.

Nor are all Spirit guides are exotic.  They may present themselves as an Egyptian Priestess or a Native American but more often than not they can be anything at all.  Two of my mother’s guides were a German Doctor and also a nun! I have had a Tibetan monk and also a Neanderthal woman who only laughed and sent me love but I always knew what she was saying!

To find your spirit guide find a quiet space (this is a good one to do outside with your back to a tree but you can do it anywhere), visualise  your heart like a flower in bud with the petals of truth and wisdom unfolding. Then see yourself in a sacred space, a garden or somewhere that makes you feel safe and wonderful. As you sit in serenity just ask your guide to show up.

When you first meet your guide it is like any relationship in that it can take time to develop and for the communication to become clear. On first meeting you may just see their form and they may stay silent. It is also quite common for them to hand you an object, such as a feather or stone, which holds great symbolic value.

The more you practice and the more you connect the clearer it will be until all you need to do to call them is close your eyes.  If you feel you need direct help from a spiritual source or you need some ‘rescue remedy’ in the form of a Universal Spiritual guide you can always ask the Gods and the Angels.

Depending on your particular religious faith you can call upon Jesus, Buddha, Allah or Mary.  As long as whatever you are asking them for is for the highest good of all involved, you may find that you are more concerned about religious divisions than they are, so don’t worry if you want to call upon Buddha, for example, but have never set foot in a temple!

Archangel Michael can be called on for protection, courage and to make you feel safe.  He is my personal favourite and an Angel who is always there.  Archangel Raphael can be called upon for healing.  Kwan Yin, the Goddess of unconditional love and compassion, helps you heal and love yourself. She is also the Goddess of childbirth. Ganesh, the distinctive elephant headed Hindu God, can be called upon to remove obstacles.  In the last newsletter we covered Aphrodite, Goddess of love, who can be called on if you need some higher guidance in drawing love into your life!  If you feel that you’re up against something that you believe is a karmic entanglement or issue that needs to be worked out, you can also call upon the Lady Nada, an ascended master and one of the eight Lords of Karma who oversee and dispense karmic justice.

Whoever you do call upon – don’t forget to thank them for their help and support! Again, it isn’t just about politeness.  It’s because of the amazing effects that gratitude has on us in that it allows us to see the very real presence of loving higher powers in our lives.

How to Become a Love Magnet

Warning: This article contains no revelations about why your soulmate (or whatever you wish to call them) has not yet materialised It isn’t going to tell you that the reason you’ve not got someone in your life RIGHT NOW is because you have failed to set goals or that you’re creating the wrong reality for yourself. As if you deliberately set out to create a reality where you were single and searching in the first place.

Okay, you say, that’s a relief. But isn’t the title of this article ‘How to Become a Love Magnet’? Yes. This is an article on how to become a LOVE magnet. Not ‘How to Attract your Soulmate’. But here’s the thing – once you become a love magnet you just start to attract more and more wonderful connections and many, many soulmates – some of which or one of which can turn out to be that special soul someone you’ve been looking for all along! The secret is to let go of the thought that it is one person you want to attract and just set out to attract LOVE – in whatever form(s) it wants to arrive in.

Who doesn’t want more love in their lives? And to get it you don’t have to wait for that romantic partner to arrive. You can start to attract it right now – this very instant and the thing is when you do you do become that love magnet! Here’s how:

1: Give the Love: To receive love you have to give it away first.  Show you have love to give and the universe sends more back your way. Let the people who are already in your life know how much you love and appreciate them. Family, children, friends, business partners, co-workers  – even your pets. Tell them, show them. If you have time volunteer for a good cause (that you love) and spread the love further. Above all – take action. This is not about money – buying people gifts or even in making a donation to a charity (although this is something you can also do). Taking action puts you in your power and never underestimate the power of a hug or giving two hours of your time to a good cause.

2: Ditch the Unlovely: Sorry, it’s gotta be done. We’ve all got them in our lives. The people (often so-called ‘friends’) whose constant negativity or attitude drains us. Or maybe it’s that ex you can’t quite let go of. If you want to be a love magnet these people are destroying your magnetism! Doing this takes courage. You may be able to slide out of some associations gracefully simply by no longer being available. Others sadly may require those kind of awkward confrontations none of us like but which we all have to deal with sooner or later which begin along the lines of: ‘I think it’s time to give our friendship a rest . . .’. If you want to magnetise love into your life you cannot afford to skip this step!

3: Don’t wait for Prince/Princess Charming: Do you have a list of things you imagine you’re going to do when s/he turns up? If so your significant other can only turn up in spite of your need. Fill the need and the energy is clear to let them in. So no matter what it is – doing that activity, going to that nice restaurant, taking that trip – do it now. What is more this affirms you deserve to be treated this way. After all, if this is the way you are prepared to treat yourself then anyone coming in has to offer the same – or better. Investing in yourself and giving yourself what you expect your lover to give you increases and affirms the fact you are loveable!

4: Look into your soul: Do you really want a partner? Remember, this article is about being a love magnet. Yes, all of us want as many loving connections as the universe wants to send us but if you are happy with the way things are in your life and aren’t phased about having a partner then admit that. Maybe you’d like a partner and you feel if the right person turns up that’s fine but you’re not going out of your way to do anything about it. Know that if you are content right now that’s fine and you don’t have to pretend to want anything else. In which case you’re basically home free whichever way you look at it. What you and everyone else reading this article who wants to be a love magnet wants to experience is more of that ‘L’ stuff! And believe me – love is everywhere and in so many forms. What can block it however is not being honest with yourself about where you are right now as your desires are not in alignment with what you are saying and doing.

When love becomes our goal as opposed to the love of one particular person or a specific type of love, we open a portal for the unlimited love of the universe to come flooding through and make all kinds of magical love connections we would never have thought possible. When we do this our capacity for love just expands and what is more – more love just finds us – it’s the law of magnetic attraction!

Michele’s Guide to Chakras

A vintage article for you and one of my favourites! I cannot tell you how powerful I find Chakra clearing, so give it a go!

The Chakras are energy wheels, which spin and vibrate in different areas of our body. When these wheels are tuned and clear we are energised and in harmony. Often these energy centres become blocked or stuck leaving a feeling of being out of sorts or disempowered. Start from the root chakra and work your way up. I would take a chakra a day or even a week to fully process.

Crown Chakra

Your connection to the higher realms, your higher self, connection to angels and beings of light. The crown chakra is essential for your well-being. It can be likened to a giant umbilical cord coming through the top of your head and attaching to God, spirit, whatever your symbol. The crown chakra feeds us the love and protection of the universe.

The crown gives us a connection to the whole. If the crown is not functioning well, it can lead to a sense of isolation or abandonment. You may feel unaware of your life path or reason for being here. Knowing and understanding flow through this centre. Your life force, your spirit force.

Meditation and contemplation benefit the crown chakra and connect you to source. The people we perceive to be bad or evil or have generally cut off from the crown chakra, living in ego, being disconnected from this chakra can make you unaware of cause and effect and lose your humanity.

Sitting in silence in the wilds of nature you can tangibly feel your connection to the whole. You are the mountains, tree and brooks, you are divine!

Questions to ask yourself

Do I trust the universe my higher power?
How can I open my connection to the whole?
What colour is my crown chakra?
What are my spiritual beliefs?
What does my higher power feel and look like?

Affirmation

‘ I am connected to the divine, I am the divine, my life is giving me exactly what I need ‘.

Colour – white (all colours) violet.

Crystals – clear quartz, amethyst and lapis lazuli.

Third Eye

The sixth Chakra is located in the centre of your forehead and is the gateway to your intuition and clairvoyance. This chakra is also home to your subconscious and the core of your dreaming.

If you close your eyes and visualise, the images seem to manifest from this place. This intense mysterious chakra reveals the hidden in you and perceives the hidden in others.

This is the chakra that unravels the mysteries of life – the wise woman within sees from here.

If you run your finger gently over your forehead you will actually feel an indentation and sensitive spot where your third eye centre is. As we approach these powerful times of awakening our intuition appears to be unfolding and opening up to us, evolving very quickly to the next way of being. This chakra is crucial to work with at this time but make sure you are firmly grounded!

If this chakra is blocked or not working correctly you may experience problems with your eyes, migraines, or issues of trust with people.

Questions to ask yourself

How open is my third eye?
Do I trust my intuition?
What hidden things can I see right now?

Affirmation

‘ I am an all seeing wise (wo)man, my depth and wisdom are honoured by those around me ‘.

Colour – Indigo

Crystals - Amethyst to open and explore, Fluorite for deep expansion (be careful with this stone as it is very powerful and can induce premonitions!), Rose Quartz to soothe, Lapis Lazuli to nourish.

Throat Chakra

The fifth chakra is located at the throat and is the centre of truth and self expression. If this chakra is open, you walk your talk and you are your truth. Many people have a blocked throat chakra and fear the consequences of speaking their truth, saying exactly how they feel, expressing vulnerability or strength.

This is a place of communication and when released will lead you to be able to flow and fully be yourself. Communicating of course involves listening and interacting with others.but also within that remaining true to yourself. Remarkable things can happen when you come from your truth.

If this chakra is blocked it can lead to neck and throat problems, thyroid problems also sore throat or the common cold. Throat problems can also mean blocked tears as these problems go hand in hand.

Sounds and chanting are excellent ways to clear the throat chakra and are also equivalent to meditation. Chanting is potent magic ( if you are a Buddhist for example you are more than familiar with the power of chanting).

The healing power of the voice has been known and honoured in many ancient societies. Contemporary society encourages us to hide and repress our emotions, particularly grief and rage. Releasing and expressing your emotions can lead to instant transformation but is done ideally when you are standing in your power an your other chakras are balanced.

Questions to ask yourself

How open or closed is my throat chakra?
Do I speak my truth? If not, why not?
What is my worst fear about speaking my truth?
What would I say right now if I was speaking my truth?
Do I communicate to those close to me?
Do I speak the truth to myself?
When did this chakra become blocked?
Am I ready to embrace my truth?

Affirmation

‘ I speak my truth and the universe listens. I am my truth!’

Colour – Blue

Crystals – Blue lace agate to stimulate and balance, Sodalite to ground and balance.

Heart Chakra

The home of unconditional love and your connection to the whole. You empathy for other people and your ability to love yourself and others. Here is where all truth lays, the knowledge of your past and future lives, and an abundance of love.

The love available in the heart chakra is our very essence – the essential us. Learning to live with an open and flowing heart chakra allows you to feel safe at peace, to feel loved by the universe. What you feel and give out from here will be rewarded ten fold.

Don’t confuse this with addictive or co-dependant love. Universal love is the pure layer of gold within your centre, waiting to be mined by you! The heart chakra can be accessed very easily, you just have to want to surrender to the love. The heart chakra links you to an ocean of universal, divine love, always there for you, to replenish yourself and others.

The heart is a meeting place of the upper and lower chakras. It brings all the energies together uniting our earthly nature with out higher self.

Loving without letting the ego interfere, uniting with the whole and recognising our connection to everything. The heart is a gateway to the soul and to spirit. Unlimited magic abounds inside your heart centre.

An out of balance heart chakra can lead to a sense of isolation or depression, asthma, heart disease or high or low blood pressure.

Colour – Pink or green

Crystals – rose quartz to open up or heal, green adventurine for balancing.

Questions to ask yourself

What does love mean to me?
Have I ever experienced universal love? If so, what inspired it?
How much do I love myself?
How have I loved and been loved?
How open is my heart?
What kind of loving do I need in my life right now?

Affirmation

‘I am a vessel of unconditional love and showered with love every moment’.

Solar Plexus

The third Chakra is situated beneath the heart and above the belly. The solar plexus is our connection to our sense of self and personal power, the ego if you like. It is also the place where many people feel fear and the very fear of being ourselves.

Our zest for life as well as our vitality originate from this chakra. It is like an electricity generator.

Our ego can find a comfortable place to live here and so it is essential to keep this chakra clear and balanced so that megalomania doesn’t set it! On the other side of the coin, when this chakra is too closed down lethargy and despondence or depression can set in (diabetes is said to be a physical manifestation of a dodgy solar plexus). The solar plexus should be a place of sun and fire.Visualise the sun shining in your power source and glow with the warmth or your unique vital spark.

The key to keeping this centre in balance is being comfortable and happy in your own power, not being fearful of being powerful as well as not feeding yourself on power for powers sake.

It is a delicate balance that will bring you the great reward of feeling vital, energised and confident about who you are in the world.

Question to ask yourself

What is my personal power?
Am I comfortable with my power?
Am I in my power?
How open in my solar plexus?
Do I have buried fear and if so am I ready to let it go?
How is my vitality at the moment?
What am I holding in my solar plexus?

Affirmation

‘ I am a vital, powerful being, glowing with confidence.’

Colour – Yellow

Crystals - Citrine to energise and balance, tigers eye to activate and stimulate.

The Sacral Chakra

The second chakra can be found around the womb/stomach area and related to sexuality and creativity. Here lies your power and your passion, your gut feelings about who you are and the ability to desire.

I often visualise a Goddess within living in this chakra as sensuality and abundance flow through here.

This chakra is particularly relevant to women as it represents the seat of our power and our womanhood.

Desire and emotions stem from this powerful place, as well as creative thought. You give birth not only to life here but to ideas and inspiration.

To keep this chakra flowing it is essential to reclaim your sexuality for yourself, your sexual vibration is about you not about another. It is based on your own vibration, not what is dictated by society or a lover. This is your power source.

We can repress our sexuality or place bundles of guilt in this sacred place.Knowing you are a sexual being and diving into this energy space is your divine right.

Let the sacral chakra speak to you and you will open up a wealth of deep wisdom and self acceptance.

Intuitive and git feelings can manifest here – knowing whats right or wrong for you. Tuning into this chakra is like meeting a wise and guiding force that will often have the answers.

Questions to ask yourself

Am I in touch with my sexuality?
Am I comfortable being a sexual being?
How open is this chakra?
What do I want to create in my life right now?
What does my Goddess/God within look like?
How can I express my sexual and creative energy more?

Affirmation

My sexuality and creativity is abundant and balanced. I am surrounded by all the loving sexual energy I desire.

Colour – Orange

Crystals – Carnelian for energising agate for balancing, rose quartz for calming as well as chrysicolla or amaozonite which are good for all sorts of gynaecological problems and grounding your feminine power.

The Root Chakra

The first Chakra is located beneath the coccyx and around the genital area. This Chakra is our initial survival energy- the primordial fight or flight mechanism that is preoccupied with the basic needs such as food, water, and security and not getting eaten or killed.

This Chakra firmly roots us in the physical worked and if functioning correctly will allow you to feel grounded and safe, believing the earth can fulfil all your basic needs.

In Prehistoric times and the dawning of civilisation this energy was essential for survival. Life was far more dangerous and traumatic, if you were starving you couldn’t nip down the local chip shop or grab a quick Sushi from Waggamama. Hunting and gathering fruits in the wild was your sole means of existence and this was a hairy business as you were a lovely snack from some larger beasts.

In contemporary society we need this energy to keep us connected to the earth and to kick in if we are ever in trouble or danger. The root chakra can be out of balance for many reasons for instance if you did not feel safe in childhood, if you were ever abused or had a negative sexual experience. The root chakra can get blocked if you suffered extreme poverty or violence or had a fright such as a car accident.

Symptoms of an out of balance root chakra include: Panic attacks, lack of sexual boundaries, sciatica, a feeling of not belonging, compulsive behaviour, addictions, weight problems, aggressiveness and constipation.

The root chakra is your foundation in and life and when this energy is clear we have the basis to achieve anything we desire because our roots are strong!

A lot of people on a spiritual path want to open up their upper Chakras and turn themselves into space cadets¬ True spirituality flows through the root up to the crown again forming an eternal circle connecting to the earth and the higher spheres.

Questions to ask yourself

Do I feel safe in the world?
Am I grounded?
What primal feelings have I experienced?
Am I comfortable with raw energy?
What does my warrior self look like?

Affirmation

‘I am completely safe in the world and loved by the Universe. My roots are strong.’

The colour of the root chakra is vivid blood red. When healing and tuning the root chakra this is the colour to visualise.

Crystals – Garnet to energise – Agate to stabilise – Smoky quartz or snowflake obsidian to ground.

Bibliotherapy – The reading cure.

We’ve talked before about how emulating the lives of inspirational characters in fiction can actually bring about positive changes but the latest research now shows that the power of the printed word is even stronger than we ever imaged. We all know how pleasurable it is to curl up with a really good book you just don’t want to put down. How many of you have even gone so far as to turn your phone to silent so as not to be disturbed? I know I’m one of them! But experts now believe that reading a book can do far more than entertain and elevate your mood. Books can literally transform lives and have been proved to help people deal with a variety of psychological and emotional problems, from stress and anxiety to grief and depression.

It’s known as bibliotherapy and even Sigmund Freud used this technique with his patients. Books were also used to assist soldiers recovering from both physical and emotional trauma in the First and Second World Wars. In Australia the government has just launched Books on Prescription which follows on from the UK model which allows doctors to recommend a variety of self-help books available on prescription from public libraries for patients suffering from psychological issues as the clinical evidence shows that books can be just as effective as other forms of therapy.

UK research has found that reading is more relaxing than listening to music, going for a walk or having a cup of tea, reducing stress levels by 68 per cent. Cognitive neuropsychologist Dr David Lewis from the consultancy Mindlab International found that reading silently for just six minutes, slows the heart rate and eased muscle tension in research volunteers.

But this kind of approach doesn’t just apply to those of us suffering from wellness or psychological issues. Books can guide us on our spiritual path, open us to possibilities and provide us with new insights on how we can be living our lives. And of course, the effect isn’t just limited to self-help books. We can find inspiration in biographies, fiction and non-fiction. We only have to look at the success of Richard and Judy’s and Oprah’s book clubs to see that we all have an insatiable appetite for books that inspire and open us up to knowledge and possibilities. So why not make a list of the books that have changed your life and inspired you? If you’re looking for something new to read in a similar vein then type in the title into Amazon and it will come up with a list of other books that are similar. Or, perhaps its time to re-read some of your favourites or why not even email us your list or write a review and tell us why you think this book is a life-changer? Because there’s no doubt about it – if you want to change your life it’s as easy as cracking open a book!

PS

The London borough of Chelsea has taken this one step further and has bibliotherapy groups and a collection of wellbeing books “for adults coping with common life challenges or mental health issues may find our Adult Wellbeing Collection useful – the books in this collection can provide guidance and support to overcome a range of emotional and psychological problems” Learn more about it here http://www.rbkc.gov.uk/leisureandlibraries/libraries/adultsservices/bibliotherapy.aspx
