Soul SOS: Healing a Broken Heart from Within
Unless we are one of the very fortunate souls who fall in love and stay in love with their childhood sweetheart or the first person we date, chances are most of us at one time or another in our lives will be left with a broken heart. The feelings of rejection, of grief and of regret can make us feel like our world has ended and on top of this, there is the loss of the love we felt for and from the other person. Heartbreak can be both numbing and shattering both at the same time. We can be locked in a cycle of mourning just as if we had experienced the death of someone close to us and feel we will be trapped in this stage forever.
If you are presently experiencing the anguish of a broken heart, then one technique that can help you begin to heal is to begin to understand that the love you felt and received from your former partner hasn’t ‘gone’ just because you are no longer in a relationship with them. The love you experienced from them is just a reflection of the love you always have inside of you – it hasn’t gone anywhere, it is just that no-one is now there to bring it out and reflect it back at you!
When you are able to, take a few moments to connect back to this love and do this simple meditation which will aid you in your healing process. It’s not about getting mawkish or wallowing in ‘the way we were’ – it’s about understanding you ARE love! You can sit or lie down for this – whichever is most comfortable for you. Switch off or unplug your phone and ensure you won’t be disturbed. If you like you can light a scented candle or even play some ambient music.
Close your eyes and start to pay attention to your breathing. If you begin to feel sad or teary, don’t fight those feelings. Acknowledge them as part of the healing process, allow yourself to feel whatever it is you feel and breathe on through them. As you breathe, draw your breath deeper and deeper into your body. With each exhalation imagine yourself releasing some of the feelings of sadness, loss and heartache. As you breathe deeper into your body imagine your breath reaching the area where all these feelings are emanating from – your heart chakra. Again, as you breathe into this area you may feel intense emotions arise – that’s normal and just breathe into them if they do. Now, allow yourself to experience how you felt when you first fell in love. Let those feelings surface.
You are allowed at this point to picture your former lover in front of you. Imagine you are back in those heady first days of romance – the feeling of bring in love and being loved in return and also the feeling we so often experience when we fall in love – that anything is possible. Hold on to those feelings now as you imagine your former lover either fading out of the picture or walking away from you. Breathe in deeply, drawing those feelings deep into your heart.
Although you can no longer see your lover in your mind’s eye you’ll immediately notice the feelings are still there – because that’s where they always were – inside of you. They are still there and this healing meditation is designed to remind you of this truth – the love is always within us.
When you are ready open your eyes. Hopefully you can stay connected to the love within but when you feel this start to fade, repeat the exercise as often as you need to.
As you move through the grieving process you will notice you are staying connected to the love within for longer and longer periods until you no longer need to – you will be connected to it all the time. The great thing about this exercise is that it not only helps move us faster through the
stages of healing from heartbreak but puts is in stronger and healthier position for our next relationship. When we understand that the love we feel for another person is the love we always carry inside, then we know that the loss of a relationship cannot take that love from us. Healing a broken heart takes time – but it begins within.
Soul Power Ritual: Clearing the ex for new love.
Seeking love but feeling blocked? Aside from getting very clear about the type of person you want to attract and what qualities are important to you, one of the most effective ways to clear the way for love to enter your life is to ensure that all your ‘loose ends’ from the past have been tied up and that there is no unfinished business between you and an ex to get in the way.
There’s a simple ritual to do this. You will need a candle – either red for passion or green as green is the colour of the goddess Venus who rules our love life. You will also need a pen and some note paper and a fireproof dish or brazier (a heavy duty cooking pot will do). Also, photographs of your ex(es) if you have them. You can also put on some ambient music and arrange your candle, brazier and photos on a piece of cloth if you like. As with all rituals, ensure your phone is unplugged or switched off and that you won’t be disturbed.
When you are ready, take the photograph of your most recent ex or if you don’t have one, just write down their name. Now, write down 10 things that you learned from them or that you were grateful for during your relationship. It doesn’t matter how the relationship ended and even if the connection turned out to be toxic, chances are this was a powerful learning experience for you. So, you can still frame it in a positive way: ‘I am grateful to you for giving me the opportunity to value myself more’ would be one example. Or: ‘I am grateful to you for allowing me to understand my needs in a relationship so much better’. When you have written down your 10 ‘gratitude statements’ then move on to your next ex (if you have one!). Repeat the process until you have made a list of the 10 soul learning opportunities each relationship gave you.
When you have finished, place your pages into the brazier and set them alight. As you watch them burn, reflect on how much you have learned and how far you have come.
See every relationship for what it truly was – the soul growth opportunity that was designed to bring you one step closer to the perfect love for you and without which, you would be unable to appreciate or even connect with the person when they did turn up! So, you can now re-frame all your past connections and at the same time, sever any lingering ties, hurts, resentment, regret or pain that may be keeping you in the past and preventing you from receiving the love you desire in the present.
Gratitude is one of the most powerful manifestation rituals we can practice. This exercise combines gratitude for our soul development with closure – clearing the way for new love to find you in 2015.
Banish the vampires for a positive 2015
We all start the New Year with a sense of optimism but how many times have you found this drains away as the year progresses? I’m not talking about whether you manage to stick to those New Year’s resolutions or not, but the ability to keep tapped in and on-track to the feelings of renewal and unexplored potential that each New Year brings us. It’s all down to preserving that wonderful energetic vibe and let’s face it, when it
comes to our energy levels none of us have limitless resources. So, the way to hang on to that great New Year’s vibe and have it sustain you all the way to your goals is to look closely at where you may be giving your energy away and what drains you – and to stop the leaks! Here are some of the most common ‘energy drainers’ out there.
1: Energy vampires: We’ve all experienced them at one time or another. That friend or acquaintance who only ever talks about themselves, their problems and on-going dramas, who expect us to be always there for us without giving anything back in return, and who leave us feeling totally drained or even despondent afterwards. True friends leave us feeling energised – not the other way around. If you know someone like this it’s time to learn to say ‘No’ to them – either by starting to put distance between you and them or by not being at their beck and call. If you are worried about what may happen to them, please don’t. Once they realise you are no longer available they will soon find someone else to drain.
2: Places that give you a ‘bad vibe’. The house you share with two other people you really don’t get on with that well or your neighbourhood that you really hate. That spare room or closet cluttered with junk. That pub that’s so gloomy but which your friends always insist on going to. Your dingy office space. All these kinds of places drain your energy. Time to look for a new living situation, clean out that junk, tell your friends about the wonderful new venue you’ve discovered that you’re dying to show them, or start to look for a new job. Our environment has a profound
effect on our energy levels. The flip side of this coin is that we all know of places that ‘raise our spirits’. If you need to make permanent changes such as moving house or changing jobs, keep your energy levels high by ensuring your visit that favourite park, beach or countryside walk that recharges you both physically, mentally and spiritually.
3: Parade Rainers: Similar to energy vampires but harder to spot, people who rain or your parade are those who either overtly or subtly undermine your dreams by telling you the reasons why you won’t be able to attain them. The first thing to remember about these people is that they are telling their story and not yours. The second thing to remember is that unless you know 100% for certain that the person you’re confiding in about your goals is on Team You, the best way to not give away the precious energy you need to pursue them is to keep your goals to yourself until you have manifested them. It’s really that simple.
4: Hanging on to the Past: We all need reminders of the past but we should take care not to become prisoners of it. I’m not talking about throwing out that beloved childhood teddy bear or those photographs. But that outfit you rocked back in the ‘80’s? Those love letters your ex wrote you seven years ago and you’ve not seen or heard from them in three? We invest our energy in these things but we get no return on it. Time to reclaim it and start living in the now by de-cluttering the past.
When you have more energy you are more able to fulfil your true potential – all the way to loving your life more and to true goal success. So, take back your energy and make 2015 your year to shine!

Which Tarot Queen Are You?
You may already know that the Queen court cards in the Tarot pack stand for different types of women – but do you know which one you are? Traditional Tarot meanings talk about different looks, personalities and astrological star signs for the Queen of each suit. For example, The Queen of Wands represents the fire signs (Aries, Leo and Sagittarius), The Queen of Cups represents the water signs (Pisces, Cancer and Scorpio), The Queen of Pentacles represent the earth signs (Taurus, Virgo and Capricorn), and The Queen of Swords represent the air signs (Aquarius, Gemini, Libra).
All of that is true, but it is also true to say that even if you are an Aquarius, you might find that you are more like the Queen of Cups than the Queen of Swords. That is because we all have the potential to be every aspect of every woman.
So take the following quiz to find out which Tarot Queen you are – and how well you know your court cards!
For each question, ring A, B, C or D, then add up how many of each letter you score at the end.

d) The great thinkers and writers from any era.
Now add up your scores and see which Queen most represents you below!
Mostly A – The Queen of Wands
You are confident, sexy and outgoing – with bags of style to boot! You are quite capable of taking charge when you have to and can easily handle being the centre of attention. When people first meet you, they come away thinking what an amazing, bright, bubbly person you are and your love of life makes you very attractive to everyone. You prefer to keep busy and active and very little gets you down.
When you are not in your power it can manifest in one of two ways – either you can throw your weight around if you think you are not getting enough attention, or you can want to withdraw from the world and hate feeling that you have to permanently put on a show. Either way, when you are off centre everything can get a bit forced. Your naturally strong and charismatic personality can go overboard and that means you can get a bit too bossy and domineering.
You like to lavish your friends with attention and are brilliant at thinking of little gifts that will make their day. You are incredibly loyal and would go to the ends of the earth for anyone you love, but partners and potential lovers had better watch out – if you feel that you are not getting the film star treatment you just might throw a few diva tantrums!
Mostly B – The Queen of Cups
You are loving, sensitive and very understanding. When people first meet you they might not learn much about who you are – but they will feel that they can tell you anything and you could get their entire life story! You can pick up on emotional undercurrents and are especially switched on when it comes to spotting when people are upset. At those times, you find it hard not to offer to help, even if you are not asked. You do let your heart rule your head and want to share the good things of life with everyone.
When you are not in your power you can shut down your heart to keep others at an emotional distance. You can find that you get really down for no reason that you can understand and have a tendency to get bitter if you do not watch out for thoughts that can spiral down into negative patterns. You are as capable of losing your temper as anyone else, but because you are normally such a softie it can come out in a huge burst and leave everyone in stunned silence.
As a friend, you will stick with people through tough times long after a point at which many other people would have walked away. You are a fantastically sensitive and patient partner who asks for much less than she gives. Relationships work best for you when you feel that you are connecting deeply on every level and any partner of yours had better be prepared to open up and share their innermost thoughts and feelings as you hate skating around the surface!
Mostly C – The Queen of Pentacles
You are very practical and down to earth. You are always ready to give your support wherever it is needed and have the magic touch when it comes to creating a warm, secure environment. You can tackle almost any problem that life throws at you with a level head and work through things in a thorough and methodical way. People feel that they can really trust you and that you are always there for them.
When you are not in your power people can sometimes feel that you put too much much pressure on them, even though you just want them to have the best of everything. If things start to change a bit too fast you can become a bit resistant, and when you shut down it blocks off your imagination and creativity. At heart, you like everything to be stable and perhaps a bit too predictable and that can mean you get a bit thrown if things get too wild for your tastes!
You are a friend for life and love being there through thick and thin for your mates. When it comes to romance, you are more of a swan than a player – you are looking for someone to settle down and grow old with rather than drama and excitement and, even though you definitely have a strong sensual side, if that means you miss out on passion, you are quite prepared to make that sacrifice for stability.
Mostly D – The Queen of Swords
Independent, fast thinking and quick witted, you are more than ready to take action when you need to but you like to tackle things with all of the facts at your fingertips. Fearless when it comes to sizing up situations, you can get to the bottom of any hidden power plays going on around you. A wonder with words, you are fantastically witty and people always come away dazzled by your intellectual brilliance. You are more than ready to laugh at yourself as much as anything else.
When you are not in your power, you can come across as just a bit distant and sometimes even cold. Even though you are great at solving problems, you can leave out the human touch and tend to rely more on taking action rather than offering sympathy. You can be a bit of a snoop and again, when you are not in your power, you are quite prepared to do a bit of spying and skulduggery if you feel they are necessary! You can lose your temper too easily and then use your brilliance with words to hurt rather than heal.
You can always make your friends laugh and are more than ready to help them solve any problem they are facing – as long as they solve the problem! Woe betide anyone who comes to you for tea and sympathy once too often about the same thing. You believe in taking action head on to tackle difficult situations and do not understand it when you see others apparently rolling around in unhappiness without doing anything about it. When it comes to love, you want to be equal with your partner and will kick against being expected to play second fiddle. Any partner or lover needs to be as quick witted as you or you will become bored. For you, foreplay starts in the head and any potential partner or long term lover has to keep you mentally stimulated!
