My Inquirer column today is on Cafe Adriatico in Malate that figures prominently in my youth. Long before Starbucks and the explosion of coffee shops, this one lives in memory. It is not what it used to be but continues to make memories for a younger generation.

Tempus fugit

Tempus fugit. Time flies indeed.
My last lecture day for the semester is the time to thank my 150 students for teaching me more than I taught them.
They seem happy to be rid of me :)
Those who asked me to post their class pics on FB and IG-- here it is folks.

Exploring the Camiña Heritage House in Arevalo, Iloilo caught a photobomber behind a bust of Ramon Avanceña, Chief Justice 1925-1941. Didn’t have to examine the bust closely and determine if it’s by National Artist Guillermo Tolentino.

Photos from Ambeth R. Ocampo's post

My Inquirer column today was inspired by the original sculpture of Rizal depicting Josephine Bracken sleeping {Right}. This tangible memento of the couples bliss in Dapitan, goes on the block at Leon Gallery on November 30. To give it some context I wrote about the Josephine romanticized by school, and the Josephine based on primary sources.
The book inscribed to her now in the National Museum of(Upper Left] and the way she signed herself when she returned to Hong Kong [Lower left].
