I chose to stay home during the Papal weekend and watch everything unfold on TV. No crowds, no diapers, just idiotic commentary from TV anchors and reporters. I have no pictures with the Pope, not even the cardboard ones in churches, but I have the next best thing, a photo with Cardinal Tagle.

Tomorrow is the Feast of the Santo Nio, it reminded me of a detail from a 17th century altar front in San Agustin depicting the "Nino Dormido" (Sleeping Child Jesus). This charming Nio, expertly carved from Philippine hardwood, resembles depictions of the Buddha in blissful sleep, proof of the melding of cultures in Philippine religious imagery. Pls share.
