My Shiny New Website and Audiobook Deals

New website logo showing an outline of a red heart with a dagger going through it, against a teal backgroundMy shiny new website is probably 98% done. There will be minor tweaks, but everything I asked for—and a whole lot more—has been integrated into the site. Plus, there were unforeseen problems that my web guru patiently handled. Kudos to Lourdes Welhaven!

The new website is still in WordPress, so I’m familiar with a lot of the basics, but the new theme has some different ways of doing things, and I’ll be learning for a while. The fact that you’re seeing this post proves this old dog can learn a fe...

It’s Release Day

Celebrating Release Day of Deadly Adversaries. Bottle of champagne and a copy of the book. It’s release day for Deadly Adversaries! You can now get it in digital format and paperback. Audio will be coming soon. I have no control over when the audiobook channels add it to their catalogs.

What will I be doing to celebrate release day? It’s our monthly book club meeting, and I’m bringing some bubbly and a cake.

My Read and Review team has been chiming in with their comments, and I’m thrilled to see what they’ve been saying.

Knee Jerk Reactions

doctor tapping the knee of a patient. Knee jerk reactions. You know, when the doctor taps your knee (actually he’s tapping the patellar tendon) and your leg jumps? You have no control over that. It’s a reflex. Might be good for overall bodily functioning–it’s supposed to help with balance–but reflexive behavior is not necessarily a good thing in other aspects of life.  In case you haven’t seen the social media outcries recently, Findaway Voices, now owned by Spotify, announced a change in the terms of service. The response was overw...

Friday Fotos – This and That

Thought I’d take a quick trip through some of my images. No theme this week.

frigate bird with spread wings and bright red throat pouch

rows of stacked whisky barrels, some with colored tops

Have a great weekend to those who celebrate.

How can he solve crimes if he’s not allowed to investigate?
Gordon Hepler, Mapleton’s Chief of Police, has his hands full. A murder, followed by several assaults. Are they related to the expansion of the community center? Or could it be the upcoming election? Gordon and mayor wannabe Nelson Manning have never seen eye to eye. Gordon’s frustrations build as the crimes ...

It’s the Small Gestures

Small gestures say more about love than chocolate and flowers. I’m repeating a revised version of this post from 2013 for Valentine’s Day.

picture of a white handbag with a gold clasp and trimToday is Valentine’s Day, and while the media bombards us with ways to spend money to prove our love, I think most of us would rather have it spread out over time, and not be a budget breaker. I’ve spoken many times about why a Swiss Army Knife was one of the most romantic gifts I’ve ever received. And why I wasn’t “offended” at the electronic tire pressure g...

Website Overhauling

Computer monitor saying Website with someone working with color swatches and design elements I might have mentioned that I was having a complete overhauling of my author website. If I didn’t, “I’m having a complete overhauling of my author website.” My new designer, Lourdes Welhaven of Welhaven and Associates, (highly recommended, btw), decided it would be much more efficient o start from scratch rather than try to deal with all the bits and pieces cobbled together over the years, many of which were out of date or corrupt. Since I don’t poke around under the hood, I had no idea what a c...

Friday Fotos – Stained Glass Windows

Stained glass abounded on our tour stops–mostly because churches abounded. Although shooting in the dim light posed challenges, I managed a few shots that were adequate given the equipment I had. I hope you enjoy some of these.

Proof Listening to Audiobooks

Audiobook cover for Deadly Adversaries by Terry OdellMy audiobook narrator, Steve “Captain” Marvel, has been sending me his audiobook files for Deadly Adversaries, so I’ve been “proof listening”. I’ve requested the chapter files in small batches, because it’s overwhelming to me to see the entire book to proof all at once.

When Word reads me the manuscript, it gives me exactly what’s on the page. The voices have improved, but there’s no attempt on Word’s part to make this an actual book narration. I won’t be surprised if that’s not in the works.

Friday Fotos – Food From The Christmas Markets

Deadly Engagement is LiveToday is Groundhog Day, which is special in our house because it’s the day the not-yet-Hubster proposed. (I said yes.)
That was February 2nd, 1969. You can do the math.

And now, on with food from the Christmas Markets
