First & Last Christmas Date!

Facebook

LinkedIn

Guys! My latest novella in the Legally in Love series is ready for Christmas clean romance readers! First & Last Christmas Date is only 99 cents for a few more days, at the intro price. If you read all the way to the end, you can find out the story of how the book came to be during a trip my husband and I took to Los Angeles to the LA County Museum of Art (LACMA) where the La Brea Tar Pits are.

While this book was originally included in the Timeless Romance Anthology Under the Mistletoe, it has been revised and updated for this release. It’s getting some good reviews so far. (Whew!) I hope you love it and that it gives you a sweet, hilarious escape for an hour or two because

“Juliet and Taggart’s second-chance holiday date puts the antic in romantic.”

She was always his friend. Their first date ended that. Ten years later, can their second date make them more than friends?

Juliet’s life is in a holding pattern of dating wrong guy after wrong guy. When childhood friend Taggart messages to ask for second date—after a ten-year wait—she gets a holiday shakeup.

Their first Christmas date a decade ago was an unmitigated disaster, ending with Pepto-Bismol and the police. They both probably needed the full ten years to recover.

Now that he’s back in touch, Juliet must decide whether she will say yes. If this is just a one-time thing, she risks carrying a torch for him for another decade.

This could be their last Christmas date.

First & Last Christmas Date: A Legally in Love Christmas Novella is book 8 in the Legally in Love series. All are clean romantic comedies with swoony kisses and legal entanglements. This madcap adventure date follows in the hilarious tradition of It Happened One Night, Blind Date, and all other tales of wacky dates gone wrong.

Set in balmy Los Angeles, this holiday novella is a madcap comedy of swoony kisses and second chances at love, with a side of peppermint hot cocoa. Perfect for fans of the Hallmark Channel romance movies.

Sumo!

Facebook
Twitter

A few years ago, arguably my most important book was published. BIG IN JAPAN.

It tells the story of Buck Cooper, a hapless fat guy in Texas, who goes to Japan and inadvertently becomes the first blond sumo wrestler. A sports underdog/ fish out of water tale, t’s Beverly Hills Ninja goes sumo, and Buck has to face down serious enemies and danger — to get the girl. (Of course he has to get the girl. Even in the world of sumo, I write romance.)

This week I got a call from a high school teacher in Michigan who wants to use it for his class. Then yesterday, a friend posted on Facebook that it is in the curriculum of her English lit class at Arizona State University.

What!! That’s amazing. It makes me really happy–not just because of the obvious YAY of it all, but because of the lessons Buck learns by immersing in a different culture, facing down enemies, and maintaining his integrity. Students and readers can come away with a desire to find their own “sumo” — the thing that makes them into the champion that waits within each one of us.

I know a local English teacher who has developed a whole curriculum around the book. If you are interested in it, please contact me. I can put you in touch with him. He said he is happy to share it.

This morning I remembered that while I was researching for BIG IN JAPAN, I did a blog on the content of what I found over the two+ years of writing that novel.

I looked at it for the first time in … a while, and guess what. There are over 50 posts with actually some fascinating stuff I learned back then about the sport. I called it “Sumo Beautiful.” Here’s the link: http://sumobeautiful.blogspot.com/

The Rogue Warrior by Cindy Roland Anderson

His job was to protect her, not fall in love with her.

When Logan Steele is hired to protect an archery champion who is being stalked, the former SEAL automatically assumes his client is a man. Then he meets Weslee Campbell, a beautiful woman with the prettiest light blue eyes he’s ever looked into, and he knows his life is about to change forever. That is, if his fear doesn’t get the best of him. For a man who has faced enemy insurgents, rescued innocent people in the line of fire, and piloted a helicopter without experience to save his SEAL team, he shouldn’t be afraid of anything…yet meeting a pretty girl with a heart of gold has him questioning if he’s brave enough to fall in love.

As they slowly made their way toward the entrance, Weslee regretted her earlier behavior. She’d acted like a spoiled brat when all he was trying to do was keep her out of harm’s way. Her mother had raised her to be a lady, and she needed to make an apology.

She tipped her face up to look at him and realized now was not the time to apologize. Focused and stern looking, Logan honed in on the crowd around them. With his attention riveted on their surroundings, it gave her a moment to really study him. His appearance was a little deceiving. The clean-cut look gave him a hot-boy-next-door kind of vibe. Dressed in the expensive tux, he looked more like a sexy British spy than a soldier. It was his piercing blue eyes that gave him an edge, making him look cool, calm, and dangerous.

As if he knew she was checking him out, his eyes flashed to hers. Glimmering like chips of ice, they held very little warmth and were deadly serious. Still, despite his cool assessment, she felt that magnetic pull toward him. Instead of shrinking away, no doubt what he intended her to do, she held his gaze and gave him a soft smile.

Then she saw it. A fiery attraction flickered behind his eyes just before he shuttered it and looked away. That brief second of intense heat wrapped around her like a warm blanket right out of the dryer. What if Inez was right? What if meeting Logan was her destiny?

On sale for just 99 cents on October 4th & 5th

Logan and Weslee have such a fun and rewarding love story! I loved the chemistry between them, the suspense leading toward the ending, and the comedy spread throughout the book as well. Such a fun, romantic read, and the perfect addition to the Navy SEAL Romance Series 2.0. ~ Kimberly

Tabitha’s Folly by Jen Geigle Johnson

Tabitha’s Folly is one of Five books all set at the same Regency House Party Series. While each is a standalone story, watch our characters mingle together with others from the books in the series. The stories can be read in any order.

Lady Tabitha Easton recklessly dodges four over-protective brothers while trying to gain attention from the man who holds her heart. She has many choices of suitors, and with Henry as disinterested as ever, she turns to what is wholly forbidden, an irresistibly handsome footman. While their friendship grows, her trust in him increases while her hurt and doubt in her childhood love and friend pushes her away from all she’s ever known as family.

When Lord Henry Courtenay discovers a new attraction to his childhood friend, his role as one of her chaperones at the house party becomes near impossible. Irrationally defensive about any potential suitors and seeking time alone with the enticing Tabby, maintaining friendship with her brothers proves more difficult than he ever imagined. His task becomes all the more difficult when she refuses to understand his growing attraction and often finds herself in almost compromising situations.

When Tabitha’s choices might lead her to danger, and doubt and distrust are high, Henry must prove himself or lose her forever.

Falling in Love — With My ’90s Boy Band Boyfriend! + $25 Giveaway!

My 90’s Boy Band Boyfriend by Jennifer Griffith

Teenage singer Oakley Marsden is having a rough week. Pop-star Hudson’s rough week is twenty-three years long

Sixteen-year-old Oakley just wants to win a spot on TV’s The Next Radio Star. But when her bad audition goes viral, going back to school is a nightmare.

Even more humiliating, she discovers her own mother was a boy band groupie. Cringe. And Mom still has a thing for a nineties boy band killed in the tragic plane crash twenty years ago.

When things can’t get worse, a strange beggar guy ends up carrying Oakley home—and Oakley’s mom loses her mind. She’s convinced he’s the long-dead popstar Hudson Oaks, frontman for Girl Crazy and Mom’s long-lost love.

And the guy isn’t denying it. Curse him.

Oakley has to save her mom from this impostor before Mom does something insane—and before Oakley starts falling for his charm too.

Mom’s voice got that suppressed squealing quality again. “Don’t you know who that is?”

“Who who is?” Oakley refused to believe her mom knew the seventeen/forty-year-old currently in her master bathroom shower. “That guy? He’s probably a drug addict, Mom. Believe me, I see a lot more of them at high school than you see in kindergarten. They’re actually pretty easy to spot: lack of self-care, bad personal hygiene, general disorientation, smell of smoke.”

“Sweetheart.” Mom looked more serious than she had in days, and she grabbed both of Oakley’s hands again for emphasis. “That guy who is now showering in our house is Hudson Oaks.”

The housing development guy from the boy band two decades ago?

“Mom.” Oakley wondered how many times she was going to have to call her mom out today for making wildly ridiculous statements. It was climbing into the dozens category now. “I think you and I both know that’s impossible.”

“He sounds like him, walks like him, says his name is Hudson Oaks. All the reasons. Trust me, I’m probably the greatest living expert on Hudson Oaks besides the man himself.”

That guy in her shower couldn’t be more than seventeen, and therefore not, legally, a man. Her mom should stay right away from that jailbait. Weren’t school teachers specifically trained on stuff like this? Apparently Mom had shelved all that based on seeing a … what?

Oakley’s world shifted on sands she hadn’t even known she’d been standing on. This new version of her life contained a mom who might just run off with a minor.

“Did you look at him, Mom? He’s, like, a seventeen-year-old kid. This whole incident happened over two decades ago. Don’t tell me you can explain that.”

“Of course I can.”

Of course she could. Oakley swallowed all the acid-tinged words and asked, “How?”

“Obvious. Time travel.”

A tiny explosion detonated in Oakley’s brain, but before she could react, a soft knock came at Oakley’s door. Mom hadn’t heard it, too enthralled in her moment of brilliant discovery. But Oakley had.

She looked over.

There in the doorframe, lit from the hall light behind, stood a dripping wet, formerly dirty boy, clad in just a towel at his waist. His hair was combed, and he had a definite young Tom Cruise quality about him—dark hair, charming smile, and those shoulders. Great Gatsby, those shoulders! Oakley caught her breath and had to swallow hard. The way he held his mouth, like he expected every woman to want to kiss it, made a little muscle tremble at the back of Oakley’s stomach.

She immediately tightened the muscle to put a halt to that nonsense.

Loved it! Fun and witty and had enough twists to keep me guessing. The hero was totally swoony and I really identified with the heroine. It had a perfect ending! ~Donna H

Time for a blast from the past! I had a lot of fun reading this book. I loved all the references to 90s music and culture. I had some pretty good laughs every time I came across a reference from that time. ~Julie C

Fun, fun read! Between a time-traveling rock star who looks like Tom Cruise, finding out about her mother’s teenaged craziness, learning to give her stepfather the credit he deserves, and coming to terms with her own insecurities and talent, Oakley has a lot on her plate! Let the fun and games begin! ~Traci A

This brought back a lot of memories as I was a teen in the 80’s. I loved this story. Sweet read & definitely good for teens & pre-teens or adults looking for a clean, fun story with a little romance, a little mystery & feel good ending! ~Rose D

The Sheriff’s Bride by Kimberly Krey

Trent Lockheart might be the new sheriff in town, but he can’t stop Jessie Jean from stealing his heart.

Sheriff Trent Lockheart knew he’d be in for a challenge when he moved from the big city and a large police force to the small Wyoming town of Cobble Creek. But at least he’d be able to stick to his bachelor ways without temptation. So he thought. Cobble Creek isn’t overflowing with young, single ladies, but Jessie Jean—the gorgeous brunette who runs the Country Quilt Inn—proves more tempting than any woman he’s known.

Jessie doesn’t care much for the new sheriff in town. After an explosive first meeting that almost ends in Jessie’s arrest, she’s even more determined to plan on dinner for one for the rest of her life. Sure, the new sheriff is seriously attractive, and after a second, much less dangerous run-in, he might not be that bad, but Jessie has no plan to marry, date, or even let a man into her life. Still, as the days pass, Trent’s surprising charm works past Jessie’s determination, and she finds promise in their budding relationship.

After opening up about the difficulties in her past, Jessie finds that Trent is guarding a dark tragedy of his own, one that might threaten their chance at a future together.

Of all the nerve! Who in their right mind would remove flyers for a fundraiser to help a single mother battling cancer? If Jessie came across this guy she’d let him have it. No doubt it was a guy; no woman had the heart to do such a thing.

She took her frustration out on the stapler, pounding three staples into each corner of the page. “There,” she hissed. “Take this one down. I dare ya.”

The deep sound of a man clearing his throat sounded behind her. “Who are you talking to, Miss?”

She spun around, surprised to see an unfamiliar officer standing there. Wait, maybe he was familiar after all. Those sunglasses looked a whole lot like the ones she’d caught sight of a moment ago. She hadn’t noticed the uniform, as distracted by she’d been. In those tinted glasses, with that thick, dark hair and chiseled features, he looked more like a Hollywood heartthrob than a …

The thought was lost as a shock of lime green caught her eye. Why were those papers in his hands? A gasp tore from her throat. “Are you the one ripping these down?”

The man flicked the stack with the back of his hand. “As a matter of fact,” he mumbled around a toothpick between his lips, “that’s exactly who I am.”

It was the perfect clash – the ugly admittance of what he’d done, and the attractive features of his face. Everything about him boasted manly perfection. His well-defined jaw showed hints of a five-o’clock shadow, the scruff also casing that perfectly sculpted mouth. The impressive span of his chest and shoulders said he was disciplined too; muscles like that didn’t happen overnight.

Jessie forced her mind back to the less-attractive parts of him. Mainly, the part that was trying to sabotage her upcoming event. She reached out to snatch the stack from his grip, but he yanked it from her reach, a wry smile pulling at his lips.

She gasped once more, visions of grade school coming to mind. Mean Milton playing keep away after swiping her backpack.

“You’re a bully,” she accused.

“No, ma’am, I’m just doing my duty.” The sunglasses made it hard to dissect just what was going through his head. In the reflection, Jessie saw a ticked-off version of herself, looking somewhat small from the lowered angle.

A hand went to her hip. She leaned on one foot. “Did you take even one teeny tiny second to read what’s on those flyers? Huh? Because if you did, we wouldn’t be having this conversation.”

“Ma’am, I don’t care if you’re having a yard sale or warning the town that a UFO landed in your backyard. What you’re doing is illegal.”

Fire roared in her chest. “Who are you?”

The officer slowly lifted a hand, took hold of the sunglasses he wore, and pulled them off his face. Their eyes locked as he moved the toothpick from one corner of his lips to the next. “I’m the new sheriff in town.”

“One of the best books I’ve read… there were parts where I cried, laughed and cheered at the happily ever after.” Ginny LaMere

“…a sweet but rowdy romance with charming characters, a heartwarming story, and breathtaking moments too.” Kindle Customer 3

Listen to a sample chapter of Dante’s Gift

Excerpt Present day romance:

The scent of turkey met her at Dom’s front door. For a moment, apprehension swept through her at the thought of helping in the kitchen. Then a handsome man stood before her, and she couldn’t wipe the foolish smile off her face. Instead of saying something stupid, she held out the wine.

“In a holiday bag, no less,” Dom said, eyebrows raised. He stepped back to let her in, grabbed her hand, and spun her around to face him. “You look stunning.”

“I just thought that the burlap would give it extra protection if I dropped it, and they only seemed to have holiday wine bags in stock and—”

One finger covered her mouth. As his head slowly lowered, she could feel his breath on her face; heat raced through her core. By the time their lips touched, her legs had turned to jello; she clung to him for support.

Gently pushing her toward the wall, he pressed his length against her and whispered, “I need to make you mine, legally, before I lose all control. You have no idea the affect you have on me, do you?”

“I think that is the most romantic thing anyone has ever said to me,” she said breathless. “Kiss me like that again… please?”

“I’d be happy to oblige if you tell me that isn’t my grandmother standing in the doorway watching us.”

Katie looked over to see Antonia, a wide grin on her face, and quickly pushed on the hard chest that pinned her to the wall. She ran a hand through her hair as the blood rushed to her face.

“Oh Nico, such good Italian blood in you. And not even any mistletoe out yet.” Antonia wiped her hands on her apron and waved to the young couple. “Come now, we have work to do before we play.”

The two followed her in like reprimanded children who showed no remorse, holding hands and snickering. This is silly but it feels so good. Katie accepted the apron and as she pulled the straps behind her, strong hands covered hers.

“Let me,” he whispered in her ear. “I’m good at tying knots.”

Excerpt WWII romance:

The pilot with wheat-colored hair put his elbows on the counter and leaned toward her. “I could buy thirty loaves of bread at home for that much lettuce.”

“But you are not home, soldier. You are here, in Benevento, and a sticky bun is 100 lire.” She meant to be rude but his soft brown gaze made her heart race as if she’d just chased Dante across the field. His smile went to his eyes, adding crinkles to the corners, and made her own lips turn up. “The cost of supplies is very expensive these days, as you know.”

“So I’ve heard. Give me five,” he said with a wink. “Maybe I can sweet talk the captain into putting me back into a plane.”

“Save your money, Ken. Your ears obviously ain’t got any better in the last ten minutes,” he answered, rubber-necking over the counter. “Get a load of that landing gear.”

Dante growled again but this time showed sharp, white teeth. “I don’t think he likes you much, Bob.”

“Well I don’t care for him, neither. Give me two of those, and we’ll get out of your hair.”

The men paid for the rolls and walked outside. She headed into the kitchen when that quiet, deep voice stopped her. “I’d like to apologize for my friend. He’s not a bad Joe once you get to know him.”

“I don’t think I care to,” she said without turning around.

“It looks like I may be making regular trips through your town. Do you work here often?” His tone dripped like honey from a ladle and poured over her; she felt her body turn toward him even as her brain told her “no.”

“My family owns it. I am here every day.”

“So your father is Guido?” He had resumed his place at the counter, balanced on his elbows again, inviting her back without a word.

She found herself leaning on the counter from the other side. “How do you know my father?”

“The sign says Guido’s Café.”

She laughed. “Yes, it does. So you are no private eye, eh?”

He whistled then. “You’d make Betty Grable green with envy when you smile. It makes those blue eyes sparkle like a fresh-cut diamond. You should do that more often.”

Her eyes lowered, embarrassed at the compliment and the image of the American pinup girl in a bathing suit. “You should go catch up with your friends.”

“My name is Ken Lawrence,” he said and held out his hand.

“Antonia Capriotti,” she replied and took his hand. A tingle shot down her center and curled her toes. “It is nice to meet you.”

The Songs of You and Me by Mylissa Demeyere

A SECOND CHANCE AT FIRST LOVE.

Jane Hartford fell head over heels for Jackson at the tender age of fifteen. She spent most of high school pining for him, until she realized he wasn’t going to see her as anything more than his baby sister’s best friend. Now she finds herself single with a daughter, a broken heart, and songs that remind her of a long lost love.

Jackson Wright is a man living with regret. His biggest one, never acting on his feelings for Jane. When he returns to Bellebrook, the town they grew up in, he literally runs into her and his world gets tossed upside down and sideways.

This time, Jackson isn’t willing to give up. With a meddling sister eager to push both of them together, he believes things might actually work out. That is, if they can overcome the heavy baggage they both carry. Follow Jackson and Jane as they revisit their past, figuring out what went wrong so long ago.

Will they learn they have the power to make things right in the present?

BOOK TRAILER

(18 year-old Jackson)

“So, Evan, huh?” I blurted out, when I found her in the kitchen, snacking on chips.

“Don’t even start. I don’t know what your sister was thinking.”

“You both looked awful cozy in there.” I winced, noting the jealous tone. Jane wasn’t mine, and I hadn’t done anything to change that.

“Real cozy.” Jane’s sarcasm lifted my spirits. “I love Sarah, but sometimes she makes it hard for me to remember that.”

“Yeah, she can be a handful.” I wasn’t happy with this setup, either, but if it gave me time with Jane now, I wasn’t going to complain.

”If Evan puts his arm around me once more, I might punch him.” That mental image plastered a smile on my face.

“So why did you agree to this ‘date’ if you don’t like the punk?” Must be a loaded question, because Jane turned a cute shade of pink as she fidgeted with her sleeve.

“I don’t really know. Sarah thought it would be a good idea, and then she made me read a magazine article on how to make him like me. I don’t even want him to like me.”

That sounded like Sarah, all right.

“So, what are you supposed to be doing to get him to like you?” I couldn’t help myself. Her fidgeting and blushing were too tempting to leave it alone.

“I’m supposed to flirt. But I think he’s doing enough of that for the both of us.” She huffed and averted her gaze.

“Does it make you uncomfortable when a guy flirts with you?” I closed the distance between us and leaned into her personal space. The nearness forced her gaze up. She looked confused, like she was trying to figure me out.

“No, just incensed.” Her voice came out breathless.

“Incensed?” I raised my brows. Her choice of word had me smiling, but not backing off.

“You know what it means.” She caught on to what I was doing.

“Am I annoying you now?” I raised my hand and rested it on the cabinet, right next to her head. She gulped but didn’t move to push me back. Her eyes dipped down to my lips. “Are you irritated, Jane?” I whispered, so close I felt her breath fanning my face. Her hand came up to rest on my chest, my muscles tightening under her touch.

A debut author can be hit or miss for me and let me just say, I didn’t want to put this one down–I couldn’t read it fast enough. There is so much tangible emotion involved in this story. It takes talent to engage a reader, give the characters a second chance, and talk about hard subjects without the book being a downer. I’m already looking forward to Book 2! – Katie’s Clean Book Collection

As Demeyere peppers the past in with the present, readers are given the best kind of peek into the history between Jackson and Jane. The longing, the doubt, the pain, the shattered hope.

I was so drawn into Jane and Jackson’s story, I flew through this book, rooting for these two characters to find what they’d missed the first time around. The Songs of You and Me is the playlist of the journey they take to their happily ever after—a journey that shouldn’t be missed. – Remembrancy, Inspirational and clean reads to remember and see

The Songs of You and Me was a wonderful read… I was so impressed with this new author. I can guarantee that I will be reading anything else she writes. I was happy with the ending of the story and I hated that it was the end. When I get that attached to characters I know that the novel is a winner. This is another book I’m recommending for your Summer Reading. It’s truly earned its place to be read far and wide with its captivating story and characters. I also loved the playlist with songs to listen to as you read each chapter! – Why Not? Because I Said So Book Reviews.
