Lies Jane Austen Told Me by Julie Wright
Ever since Emma read Pride and Prejudice, she’s been in love with Mr. Darcy and has regarded Jane Austen as the expert on all things romantic. So naturally when Emma falls for Blake Hampton and he invites her home to meet his parents, she is positive an engagement is in her future. After all, Blake is a single man in possession of a good fortune, and thus must be in want of a wife.
But when it turns out that what Blake actually wants is more of a hook-up than a honeymoon, Emma is hurt, betrayed, and furious. She throws herself deeper into her work as CMO of Kinetics, the fastest growing gym franchise in the nation. She loves her work, and she’s good at it, which is why she bristles when her boss brings in a consultant to help her spearhead the new facilities on the East Coast. Her frustration turns to shock when that consultant turns out to be Blake’s younger brother, Lucas.
Emma is determined not to fall for Lucas, but as she gets to know him, she realizes that Lucas is nothing like his brother. He is kind and attentive and spends his time and money caring for the less fortunate.
What she can’t understand is why Lucas continues to try to push her back into Blake’s arms when he so clearly has fallen as hard for her as she has fallen for him.
Realizing that her love life is as complicated as anything Jane Austen could have dreamed up, Emma must find a way to let Blake know that it’s time for him to let her go and to let Lucas know it’s time for him to love her back.
“Wright does contemporary romance right in this diverting novel with just enough heft.”-Publishers Weekly
“Employing her own deliciously dry sense of wit, Wright deftly pays homage to the inherent romantic wisdom found in Austen’s classic novels in this delightfully fun and refreshingly sweet contemporary romance.”-Booklist
“Modern, clever, and funny, Wright’s novel is a smart remix of tropes from Austen’s work. Lies Jane Austen Told Me is a satisfying and sweet contemporary romance that knits together romantic classics with modern manners.”-Foreword Reviews

Falling in Love Spotlight on Elizabeth Johns + Win $25

Through the Fire: A Traditional Regency Romance by Elizabeth Johns
When two people have walked through fire, can love bring the healing and help they need?
Spurned by love, Lady Margaux Winslow, daughter of the Marquess of Ashbury, has no use for the other eligible gentlemen of London. Despite her beauty, her sharp tongue soon earns her a reputation as a dragon. Convincing her parents to let her retreat to their Scottish estate, a home for abandoned young women, Margaux feels she can do something meaningful with her life. At their wits’ end, her parents believe a few months in seclusion will teach her to appreciate her privileged existence, and accept the next gentleman of worth who offers for her. Margaux has no plans to yield. But neither she nor her parents bargain for the proximity of the gorgeous, blue-eyed Scotsman on the neighbouring estate.
Gavin Craig, content with his life as a country doctor, is unexpectedly thrust into the world of aristocratic society after the accidental deaths of his brother and nephews. With all the duties his new title entails, and his adoption of three orphans, Gavin desperately needs a wife. She should preferably a lady, trained since birth to manage a noble house, servants and family. His former disdain for a marriage of convenience has been rapidly overcome by the colossal task of learning to run a large Scottish barony. One lovely candidate is right next door … except that she’s inexplicably determined to be a spinster…

Gavin looked at the letter in his hand in utter disbelief. His heart was tearing in two. His brother, wife, and children had been killed when their carriage had slipped down the side of a cliff.
“This canna be true.” He shook his head and fought back tears.
“I am afraid it is, my lord.”
“My lord? No. I doona wish for it. I’m a simple country doctor. I have a humble life and practice here.”
“I am terribly sorry for your loss, my lord. But you are, in fact, the eleventh Baron Craig now, and thus have some rather large holdings that are your responsibility.”
“This was not supposed to happen. Iain had three strapping young lads!”
The solicitor looked grave. “Perhaps, my lord, it would be best for you to return to Castle Craig and see for yourself.”
The solicitor was met with a blank stare from a set of startling blue eyes; a look that was common to those who had been met with grievous news, but who had not yet assimilated the ensuing change in circumstances.
“Verra well. I will join you there as soon as I have made arrangements.”
Gavin went through the motions of closing up his house and seeing his practice into the capable hands of his apprentice, a graduate of Lord Easton’s school. Of late, Gavin had taken many trips into England to the school in Sussex and had toyed with joining it as an instructor on a full-time basis, but he had never been able to cut ties with Scotland. How would he practice medicine as Lord Craig? He would have to find a way, while at the same time doing his best to carry on with his brother’s works in Parliament.
Gavin had seen more death than most, but he had not been prepared for the loss of his brother, or of Iain’s wife and children. They had been the last family he’d had left. He had never before given a thought to running the large Castle Craig estate, and hoped desperately that his brother had appointed a trustworthy steward.
His carriage was loaded with immediate necessities. His servants would send the rest of his belongings with those of his staff who wished to join him at the new residence. He had one final stop before setting off to bury his brother and begin his new life.

“What are you pondering, mon chere?” Margaux heard her mother ask.
“Very little, Maman,” she remarked, as they sat darning socks for some of the children. Her parents had remained with her, hopeful to change her mind.
“We are having a guest for dinner tonight. Someone interested in contributing to the orphans.”
“Très bien,” she said absent-mindedly. Guests were a normal occurrence with her parents.
“You should wear the emerald satin—bring some colour to your face, non?”
“If you wish, Maman.” Margaux cared little for what she wore these days.
“Allons y.” Lady Ashbury stood and directed her daughter to do the same. “I will see you at dinner.”
Lady Margaux went through the motions of dressing. Her maid arranged her hair in a manner worthy of a ball, she noticed. She had to admit she had been experiencing a mild case of the dismals. Once she established a routine here she would come out of it, she was certain. She had never been one to sulk, but she needed to find something useful to occupy her time. No, she corrected her thoughts. To make a new life.
She made her way downstairs, determined to be more cheerful. If she could only convince her parents she was happy here, then they would be satisfied she was content.
“Ah, there she is now, Lord Craig,” Lord Ashbury said as he saw her.
“Dr. Craig?” Margaux said, stunned as she met the eyes of the handsome doctor who had been enamoured of Lady Beatrice.

Author Elizabeth Johns
National bestselling author Elizabeth Johns was first an avid reader, though she was a reluctant convert. It was Jane Austen’s clever wit and unique turn of phrase that hooked Johns when she was “forced” to read Pride and Prejudice for a school assignment. She began writing when she ran out of her favorite author’s books and decided to try her hand at crafting a Regency romance novel. Her journey into publishing began with the release of Surrender the Past, book one of the Loring-Abbott Series. Johns makes no pretensions to Austen’s wit but hopes readers will perhaps laugh and find some enjoyment in her writing.
Johns attributes much of her inspiration to her mother, a retired English teacher. During their last summer together, Johns would sit on the porch swing and read her stories to her mother, who encouraged her to continue writing. Busy with multiple careers, including a professional job in the medical field, author and mother of small children, Johns squeezes in time for reading whenever possible.

Super Daisy is Back & Even Super-er
Google+
Somewhat of a long story precedes this new release announcement.
It goes like this:
My very first attempt at self-publishing was in 2013. I’d gotten my rights back to Delicious Conversation (now Chocolate and Conversation), and I designed a crummy cover and put it on Kindle. It shocked me when two months later, I saw my bank statement. In fact, I thought I was being punked by my bank or the IRS or someone when I saw the deposit from Amazon. It wasn’t a ton of money, but it was more than I’d made in a month’s time ever before.
Dang! I needed to try to write something else and see if it worked again. Not an LDS rom-com. I needed to write something mainstream. If I could figure out how self-publishing worked, it might just be the creative outlet I needed. The turnaround time on traditional publishing was grindingly slow. I had more stories to tell, and a year or more between books seemed so stifling.
But to do it, I needed to learn how. What I needed was an experimental novel to guide through the process and see what happened.
That book was Super Daisy.
I wrote Super Daisy in about three days while my husband was at his judicial conference and I was trying not to roast in the June sun of Scottsdale, AZ. A little lizard on some rocks kept me company.
It was a wacky story about a disgraced former beauty queen who hit her head, saw Wonder Woman, crashed her jeep, and then woke up with super strength. But being a small-town girl with a nowhere job and a nothing life, her power was pretty useless. And then things got worse for her.
So, that’s the gist of that story.
With my newfound courage at trying scary things, I made a book cover for it. (Not my forte, trust me.) To do so, I had to learn two or three different graphic design programs. The result wouldn’t wow anyone, but I was pleased as blue raspberry punch with it because I’d done it myself. With all that confidence brimming, I rushed right over to Amazon and published it.
Did I edit it? Nope. Did I really think about who would be reading this thing? Not even for a second.
Not written to market, not edited, no professional cover–a recipe for disaster as probably anyone would guess. But I popped it up there in a wave of irrational exuberance.
Super Daisy was my guinea pig book. I marketed, I changed covers. I sent it to reviewers. I made it free. I did all the scary things self-published authors have to learn to do. I did absolutely everything wrong. But I did it bravely!
In fact, in an Old Faithful-level gush of confidence, I even took Daisy to Hollywood and pitched her to a producer, and he bit. (I’ll tell that story another day. It’s a good one!) Daisy taught me a lot.
Fast forward a few years. Things have shifted. The standard for self-pubbed books has gone up a whole lot. I still love Daisy. I can see all her many, many flaws. I know her story is a big, fat mess, and I take her down from publication. I think about keeping her hidden, since she’s such a disaster. It’s that whole “an artist’s early work” thing.
But I love her. I want people to know her. She has a little warm spot in my heart, even though her story is only a quirky, silly bit of cotton candy fluff. I dream that she can have a broader audience.
Then, when my dear friend LeAnn died last August, I mourned. Over and again she had told me this was her favorite book of mine, despite it’s dumbness. She just loved Daisy for all her crazy quips.
Because of that, I wanted Daisy to come back. For me, and for LeAnn, and for the readers who had found her quirks endearing.
Then it hit me. *I could fix it! I could turn Daisy into the teenager she already acts like and it could be the YA novel it was always meant to be at its core!*
So I did. And this week, it became reality. I rewrote it, making her a somewhat broken female superhero, age 17. I edited the crazy out of it. And my awesome friend Dillon McGaughey created a cover that makes me get a little misty-eyed. Doesn’t she just look like an Idaho farm girl sitting on her parents’ house stairs in her slipping tiara?
Lessons learned. I still love Daisy. I know the story still isn’t the most perfect thing. It’s not compelling like The Hunger Games or deep like All the Truth that’s in Me, or addictively despair-inducing like 13 Reasons Why, but I also know that at least a dozen people have told me that they identify with Daisy, that she makes them happy.
I like happy. I like light. I like sweet and fun. It’s candy for your brain and soul.
Daisy makes me happy, too. She makes me happier now that I’ve given her a little better love. I am so glad I was able to make amends for her. She’s still the star of a quick story, with zippy and wacky super powers coming and going and wrecking Daisy’s shot at EVER winning Cliff Calloway’s heart.
I humbly present: SUPER DAISY .

Springtime Writing Update
Google+
It’s been a great few weeks for writing and reading. I just finished reading a couple of fun books, and I’ve completed two fun YA contemporary fantasies. One should be available (again) soon. It’s Super Daisy, revamped for teens, and the other is a totally new story that was the most fun I’ve had writing in a long, long time. Details as soon as I line up my little duckies in their neat row. (Not that I ever seem to do that.)
Last weekend my cute husband and I took a quick overnight trip to a nearby cow town, where we ate Big Tex Barbecue in an old train car and hashed out ideas for a couple of book series we’ve been talking about. One is a billionaire romance series (always fun), and another is a Regency (gasp!) series. I never, ever thought I’d be planning a Regency story. At least not in a barbecued ribs place.
Stay tuned on those. The billionaire one I’m already forty pages into. Woot! Now, if only I didn’t have to cook or clean…
There would be a lot more Jennifer Griffith novels if it weren’t for the need to eat.

A feisty ballerina with a broken heart. A minister-in-training whose faith can work miracles. Can two strong-willed people find true love and a match made in heaven?
JESSICA & JAMES: A Love Story is a boxed collection of two romances set in Snow Valley, Montana—the saga of rising star ballerina Jessica and the sparks that fly between her and gorgeous James Douglas, the new pastor in town.
This collection includes new chapters, and a Brand New Bonus Wedding novella!
Suffering with a broken heart, Jessica has struggled to forgive herself for that fateful night when her childhood love was killed in a car accident. After staying away from home for years, she finally returns for Christmas and meets James Douglas who is unlike any minister-in-training she’s ever known. James can not only dish back Jessica’s finely tuned sarcasm but understands grief all too well, turning Jessica’s world and her faith upside down. Is she ready to take another risk on love?
Living 2,000 miles apart proves difficult and Jessica and James’ love is tested in a myriad of ways, but James can’t get the spitfire Jessica out of his mind. When she comes home to Snow Valley to accept an inheritance with her male ballet partner in tow, James and Jessica’s passion for each other takes on a new edge.
Clean romance with heart, and a surprise wedding you won’t see coming.
A Great Love Story for everyone!
This was a very moving romance about loss and moving forward with life and forgiveness. It shows how much we can inhibit our growth after a devastating event. Recommend this collection for teens to adults, along with a few Kleenex. Have liked the Snow Valley Series. Wish it was a real place to go and visit for Christmas!
I absolutely loved this book! It is a touching & emotional story about family, friendship, love, and faith. I thoroughly enjoyed reading the story of Jessica & James. A MUST READ FOR EVERYONE!!!
All those Happily Ever After lovers out there, this is a story for you to grab, snuggle up with a comfy blanket and get lost in the love story of two characters who are not perfect but growing, healing and learning to love and be loved. Be warned that you might just be sucked into it and not want to set it down or to say goodbye to these characters once the final page has been read. I can’t recommend this one enough.
At last, she was in the sanctity of her own bedroom – a tousle of strewn clothes, unopened mail, and dishes from late night snacks sitting on the nightstand. Unfortunately, with the grueling Swan Lake ballet schedule, she hadn’t had time to properly clean her apartment in a month.
Fifteen minutes later she was dressed in jeans, a cute yellow sweater and brown suede boots with her hair pulled off her face, tendrils of curls popping out along the sides.
“You will have to take me as I am, James Douglas,” Jessica said out loud, searching for her handbag under the couch pillows.
“And that’s just how I like you,” a deep, male voice said at the door. “Every which way you are every, single day.”
It was James, standing tall, fresh and perfect in her foyer, although overdressed in a gray woolen overcoat like the Pastor Dude he was. At least that’s what Jessica’s eighteen-year-old brother, Sam, called him.
Jessica sucked in a breath, trying not to swoon at how good James—her James—looked. “How’d you get in the door?”
“I knocked,” he confessed. “But I spotted your car outside and then discovered the front door wasn’t locked, so I took the liberty of coming in.”
He smiled and his beautiful crystal blue eyes knocked Jessica over like they always did. Her stomach shot into her throat at the sight of him and her heart began to race. Every single time.
“I probably didn’t hear you from the sanctity of the shower.”
He came closer, closing the front door behind him. “I didn’t try the handle on your bedroom door. I do have discipline even if it was a temptation. But one of these days, Jessica,” he added with a murmur.
“I didn’t think pastors of God ever got tempted,” she teased, a delicious shiver running down her neck when he ran his warm hands along her bare arms.
“We just pray a lot.”
Jessica’s mouth quirked up and they grinned at each other before he gave her a long, slow kiss.
