Words of Comfort: Gain the whole world.

"Then He said to them all, ‘If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me. For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will save it. For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and is himself destroyed or lost? For whoever is ashamed of Me and My words, of him the Son of Man will be ashamed when He comes in His own glory, and in His Father’s, and of the holy angels.’" Luke 9:23...

Words of Comfort: Other gods.

In speaking of the numbers of “gods” that exist, Stephen Michael linked to a site and said, "It may take you quite some time. I will understand if it takes you weeks to get through them all, and even this is an incomplete list." In other words—the facetious question is implied, “Which is the right ‘god’”?
Some tend to forget the First of the Ten Commandments: “You shall have no other gods before Me." There are millions of gods (Hinduism has 450 million). Man is forever making up his own...

Words of Comfort: Capital G.

When someone asked a question but failed to give the name of God a capital, I banned him. He asked, “Would a god of love REALLY command Moses and his men to stone a man to death (very painful) just for picking up sticks on the sabbath? Would an all-loving god allow for his creation to be contaminated with evil, and you believe that its somehow part of his master plan?"
Sophia Brown then wrote, “Ray Comfort, your banning people for using correct grammar now? When Jordan said ‘go...

Words of Comfort: God's attention.

A man named Jairus once fell at the feet of Jesus, pleading with Him to save his 12 year-old who was on the brink of death. He had pushed through the crowds and for a moment had the attention of the Healer. But the Bible tells us that that a woman came up behind Jesus and touched His clothes. She had been ill for 12 years and had spent all her money on doctors, and got worse. But the moment she touched His clothes, she was healed. Jesus turned His attention from Jairus and said “Who touched M...

Words of Comfort: 101 Complaints.

When my daughter recently sent me a text asking if my wife and I were well, I replied, “Your mom has a bad headache, but we are both very well, except for me.” Of course I was kidding her. We weren’t both well. Sue had a headache and I had lost my voice for four days and had a nagging cough.
Ask most people if they are well and you will find that they’re not. They have headaches, canker sores, heartburn, join pain, digestive problems, and 101 other complaints, from small annoying things right...

Words of Comfort: The "Atheist Church"

The “Atheist Church” is growing in size and popularity. How funny. They are forced to hang onto the word “church.” If they drop it they become just another group of atheists gathering together. Yet the word “church” (according to the dictionary) is 1. “A building for public Christian worship,” 2. “Public worship of God,” or 3. “The whole body of Christian believers.” Don’t tell them. It will spoil their fun and they will have to go back to their boring existence.

Words of Comfort: He sees.

“For the ways of man are before the eyes of the Lord, and He ponders all his paths. His own iniquities entrap the wicked man, and he is caught in the cords of his sin. He shall die for lack of instruction, and in the greatness of his folly he shall go astray” (Proverbs 5:21-23).

Words of Comfort: Evidence for creationism.

In reference to Darwinian evolution, Stuart Pittaway said, "And your alternative scientific theory is...?''
My comeback is that we have both observable and testable evidence for creationism. It passes the scientific method. Darwinian evolution doesn't. It can't. It supposedly happened 60,000,000 years ago. It cannot be observed or tested. However, we see every animal as male and female (except for a few snails) and every animal, bird, insect and fish, bringing forth after its own kind just as...

Words of Comfort: A rule of thumb.

Here is a rule of thumb when reading the Bible: “With God, nothing shall be impossible.”
Now you can believe that seas can open, food can fall from the heavens, the sun can stop, whales swallow people, animals can fit on a boat, arks float, walls tumble, and fish can multiply. It’s really quite simple.
