As a woman over the age of 40, I can tell you with all certainty that the older I get, the less ducks I have to give. This is true for a lot of middle-aged women. 

Here are just some of the reasons why that might be:

The baby ducks are all grown and have flown away: For women with children who have left home, the experience of an "empty nest" can be emotionally challenging. It can be difficult to adjust to a new phase of life and find a sense of purpose and fulfillment when the role of parenting is no longer as central.The queen duck isn't as young as she used to be: Ageism, or discrimination based on age, is a common issue that many people, including women over 40, may face. This can take the form of discrimination in the workplace or in other areas of life. "Being invisible" would tie to this. In marketing, women over 40 are often overlooked despite the majority of them being the decision-makers in their households.Duck this mate for life BS: Getting a divorce can be ducking horrible or ducking great (depending on your view). It can be particularly difficult for women who may have been out of the workforce for an extended period and may need to re-enter the job market or who may be facing financial challenges as a result of the divorce. Not to mention, getting back into the dating scene can seem daunting and often overwhelming. Hotter than ducking hell in here: Menopause (you know, hot flashes, brain fog, suddenly noticing your significant other can make soup sound crunchy).Ducking 9-5: Women over 40 may be balancing demanding careers with caring for children and/or aging parents. Finding a healthy work-life balance can be challenging (read that as ducking impossible).How am I going to ducking pay for this?: Women over 40 may be facing financial challenges, such as paying for their children's education or saving for retirement.Who the duck am I?: As women over 40 reach a new stage in life, they may find themselves questioning their personal identity and purpose.I can duck if I want to: Society (okay, some random stranger on the internet) up and decides women over 40 can't wear their hair a certain way or dress in clothes they like. That women over 40 should dress their age. Yeah, duck off, dude! We're going to wear what we want, and if we want a side part, we'll rock that shit! Ducks of a feather, don't always flock together: For various reasons, not everyone has a built-in support system of ride-or-die bitches willing to cut a person for you. 

Listen, I get it, not everyone's situation is the ducking the same. But I think we can agree, middle age isn't for the weak. Now, let's go ahead and discuss Paranormal Women's Fiction and how it blends all the crap middle-aged women are going through with the supernatural. Think about it. A witch having a hot flash? What could possibly happen? Inheriting a home from a deceased relative only to find out it's haunted by the very same relative.
