The first date to rival all first dates | Teaser Tuesday

Want romance, friendship, and hijinks? Interested in lesfic? Look no further than my new book, The Setup, due for release next month!

I know, I know. When you think Adan Ramie, you don’t necessarily think romance. In fact, you probably think torture, murder, and the dark, gritty world of my Deviant Behaviors series, or monsters of the inhuman and human kind, like in my No End to the Dark series.

But there is a part of me, however small, that needs a happy ending once in a while, and romance...

The Visitor | Fiction Friday

In preparation of the release of my first romance novel (I know, right?!) I decided to write a few dark or twisted stories with a romantic bent to help me transition from my normal horror and thriller fiction to something more light and sweet.

This is one of those stories. I thought I would share it to give you all a taste of what you can expect (minus the weird elements) in The Setup.

Do all crimes make for good true crime books? How to Write and Sell True Crime by Gary Provost

I picked up How to Write and Sell True Crime for two reasons:

It was cheap. (Library book sales take most of my money.) True crime? Yes, please!

I have always been interested in true crime books. I love reading about the depths of depravity people will sink to when money, lust, or covering their tracks is on the line. People do the sickest things – usually for the most ridiculous reasons.

So, a book about how to write true crime? I figured I’d give it a read and see if it struck a chord wit...

Profiling love and friendship on #FirstLineFriday

I’ve already told some of you about the weird thing that happened to me recently, but most of you are probably still in the dark.

It came out of nowhere.

It threw me for a loop.

It was something I never expected.

…I wrote a romance novel.

I know what you’re thinking. A romance novel? Adan Ramie? Doesn’t she write horror and suspense? How could she manage a story without a dead body or stalker or monster?

I thought the same thing, but this story came so easily, I couldn’t stop myself. I needed...

The struggle of African American women is told in flashes in Kimberly Scott’s The Collection

As anyone who has read this blog for a while knows, anthologies are close to my heart. I read a lot of them, and write a lot of them, because I love short fiction. There’s something special about being able to tell an entire story in the length of a book chapter or less that has no comparison.

I was recently approached by author Kimberly Scott about reading and reviewing her short story anthology, The Collection[image error].

The Collection is a compilation of short stories and flash fiction. “Ms. Addie’s...

Explore the darkest reaches of the human imagination with The Best of Cemetery Dance Volume 1

The allure of horror fiction is almost universal.

I have a love/hate relationship with horror. I have been a fan of horror since I was a young child… Well, I’m not sure that’s true. I was fascinated by horror in a way only very young children can be.

I checked out every horror VHS in the local video store (I know, I’m dating myself) until they switched to DVD, then I checked out all of those. I kept renting those horror movies, from the very corniest to the most obscenely gruesome.

I also rea...

Get a dose of the grotesque in Joyce Carol Oates’ The Collector of Hearts

Joyce Carol Oates is possibly one of the most well-known horror authors in the world. Most people have heard of her, and if you’re into horror, you’ve probably read her work.

And why not? She’s a genius with the English language. Her stories are subtle, dripping darkness slowly onto the page until – BAM! – the full effect of the grotesque hits you.

Or it slithers up into your lap and makes its home inside your bowels, and though you know it’s going to keep getting worse, you keep reading, bec...

Darkness Comes on the hot, sticky breath of summer… Brings horror (and sales!) in its wake.

The newest anthology in my No End to the Dark series, Darkness Comes, is now available! (Grab it from Amazon[image error] now.)

Don’t know anything about Darkness Comes? Here’s a taste:

Fluffy white clouds floated over a dark sky above, and the soft rustling of her shoes on the pavement was the only sound below. Normally Griselda wouldn’t be out so late, but after Liam landed face-first into her birthday cake and everyone panicked, she didn’t feel like being around people anymore.

She never guessed that h...
