Ever wondered what makes a deviant tick?
Before Maladaptation sent her on the run from a killer, Lee Barsten was anything but innocent. The seeds of her deviance sprouted in childhood, and only grew worse as her experience – and her anger – grew with her.
In honor of my panels (listed below) on Bards and Sages’ eFestival of Words, I’ve made my short story collection, A World of Deviant Behaviors #1, permafree from my website.
Friday, August 12, 11AM ET/10AM CT: Never Have I Ever… Lee Barsten answers some questions about how far she...

A boy with a rare gift for mathematics fights his past and his present for a future he can only dream of in A Whole Lot by Bradley Wind
The Kindle Scout description for this book started out really strong: “Coming of age Rainman set in the 1980s.”
That was all it took. I was hooked. I wanted to read this book. So I nominated it, and happily, it was chosen for publication by Kindle Press.
When I finally got a chance to read it, I was even more pleasantly surprised than I thought I would be. The main character was fascinating. The story was moving. And the premise promised more than other stories of its kind.

Top 30 book ISO voracious readers for a good time…
My first romance novel, The Setup, was released at the beginning of the month, and already has one five-star review. It’s also doing pretty well in the Amazon Best Sellers Rankings:
#29 in LGBT Short Reads
#130 in LGBT Romance eBooks
#141 in Lesbian Romance
Not bad for my first try. I’d love to get these numbers even higher, though; a #1 in any category would be great fuel to help me write my second romance novel, Rescued, and get it published by the end of the year. (More on that book later....

How to be Incredibly Prolific with S.M. Schmitz, author of all the books
No two authors are alike. Some write one book in a lifetime. Some write about one per quarter (like me). Others pump them out like they’re possessed by the Muses themselves.
S. M. Schmitz is the possessed kind.
In a year, she’s published FIFTEEN books (according to the count on Goodreads) that all have reviews of at least three stars or higher.
This girl is good. She’s damn good.
As soon as I heard about her, I knew I had to interview her to find out what she writes about, how she does it, an...

Growing up and fitting in are eating a young girl alive in Don’t Call Me Kit Kat by K. J. Farnham
As anyone who has gone through it can tell you, being a teenager sucks.
Your body is no longer something you understand. Your friends start to change and drift apart. Your parents seem like aliens and prison guards at the same time. You’re expected to look, act, and take on the responsibilities of a young adult. And that’s a difficult switch from being a carefree kid.
And for those who find themselves not fitting in for whatever reason, it can be even harder.

Fate, the Universe, and HEA with Jo Jennings, author of Forever Friends, Hearts Entwined
“And they lived happily ever after.”
How many stories ended that way when we were children? We are told for years that princes rescue princesses (we won’t go into that), the boy gets the girl (or boy gets the boy, girl gets the girl, etc.), and everything is A-OK now that the bad guy (or girl, or monster, or government) is safely locked away… But how often does real life really tie everything up in a bow for us?
Not very often. But some people still have hope. Some people wake up every day wi...

She woke up to a nightmare with no memory of her life before in Breathe and Release by Katherine Hayton
Katherine Hayton is a brilliant author. I’ve interviewed her and reviewed another book of hers, Skeletal, in the last few months. That’s why, when I was lucky enough to win a few of her books, I knew I had to work them all into my reading schedule.
When my wife told me that Breathe and Release was even better than Skeletal, I had to read it next.
Time is running out…

Sweet, racy, funny, scandalous… Lesfic has got ’em all.
Anyone whose read many of my blog posts knows I like lesbian fiction. I’m a lesbian. I’m a reader. It only makes sense. And I’ve reviewed a lot of books over the years I’ve been running this blog. I thought this week, I could go through those reviews and pick out the lesfic books I loved the most for anyone lost on what to read next.
1. Bright Lights of Summer(5 Stars)
It’s March, 1941. Captain America appears in a comic book for the very first time. New York City receiv...

Fate brings two very different women together in Thy Neighbor’s Wife by Georgia Beers
This is another one of those books my wife owned and recommended to me, but I’ve only now gotten around to reading. To be honest, I’m not sure I’ve ever read another Georgia Beers work, which I believe, as a lesbian, makes me far behind the times. It’s a little embarrassing.
I know, I know. Bad lesbian.
But I was looking for a quick, romantic read between thrillers, and this book seemed like it would fit the bill.
