Keeping It Real
So obviously, my Wordpre$$ blog got shut down if you haven’t noticed. Apparently, I was doing too much promo and not enough “being real.” I get it, I really do, but posting for other authors is a way to show the love and support each other. I still plan on doing that, but I’m vowing to write one “real” blog post/week, you know, to keep it real!
I’ll try to keep them all related to writing in some way, shape, or form. Maybe I’ll vent about how tired I am of posting in FB groups day after day and only getting one sale, maybe I’ll discuss how expensive indie publishing can be, how I could probably have twenty books written but I waste the majority of my writing time on Facebook, the progress on a book, OR maybe I’ll discuss with you my thoughts on reviews. Eek-so many exciting things, I know you can hardly stand it, right??? I will definitely probably be asking for help brainstorming. I have a sports novella that I just can’t get motivated on!
And who knows, maybe it won’t be writing related at all. Maybe I’ll have some awesome recipe to share, like the cheese broccoli casserole I made at Thanksgiving and am now obsessed with, or I’ll go on some awesome trip, meet someone super cool, and I’ll want to tell you about it. I don’t know what I’ll write, but whatever it is, it will be real, it will be me, and I’ll post it every Monday. So here’s my first post in “Keeping It Real” and here’s to hopefully many more!

My First Signing Event!
Well, I had my first signing event last night at the St. Charles County Library. I felt like I’d made it! However, no one bought any books, it was still a great event. I’m pretty sure there was only myself and maybe a couple other romance writers there. There were lots of children’s book authors, cookbooks, self-help books, travel books, etc… Here I am all set-up and ready to sign some books!
While I may not have sold any books, I met lots of other local authors, although not in the same genre, they all shared great stories and advice. I also got to hang out with the awesome library staff that does an amazing job of supporting local writers-a big thank you for all your hard work and dedication! And more importantly, I had an assistant with me and we had a pretty good time hanging out together (this is my 10 year-old niece): 
Hopefully this is just the first of many signings and eventually I’ll have some fans come visit me. In the meantime, it was still pretty awesome to just be a part of the community.

As much as I’d tried to push the words from my mind since I’d heard them, Shaun’s voice was still ringing loudly in my ear. “Do you love me, Rumor?”
She looked hurt that I’d even ask her that, but I had to. “Of course. I fell in love with you when I was eighteen, Brody.”
“I know that,” I rubbed my hands on my knees to wipe away the sweat. “But are you in love with me now?”
She nodded, but it was automatic and prompted by her stubbornness, and I knew that.
“Then why won’t you say it? I’ve said it to you. I’ve told you I love you. Several times. You haven’t said it back to me once.”
The tears were welling up in her eyes, but I couldn’t do anything to stop them. I needed her to tell me the truth. Even if it hurt us both.
“I don’t know why I haven’t said it, Brody. They’re just not words I use. Doesn’t mean I don’t feel them.”
But that wasn’t enough for me. “Just say it now. Say, I love you, Brody. And I’ll believe you. I’ll believe in us. I’ll believe that we can make it even if we’re on opposite ends of the country, with me working my quiet accounting job and you out there pursuing fame and fortune as a rock and roll goddess. But I need to hear it, Rumor. Please.”
Her hands came up to wipe her eyes and she sniffed loudly. She lifted her gaze from her lap and met mine. Then her mouth opened and I could tell she was struggling to get the words out. When she finally did, they weren’t what I’d expected.

Aside from being an author, I am also a mom to a beautiful 5 year old little girl. I tell everyone I named her after my great-grandmother (because that’s the mature answer), but really, I named her after my favorite princess – just so happens I got lucky and they had the same name…If I wasn’t a writer, I would work on a horse ranch – I’m an animal lover (in addition to dogs, horses are at the top of my list). I wear flip-flops pretty much everywhere I go. I would rather stay awake until 5 am than get up at 5 am (years of bar tending have left their mark), if I can, I’m going to the beach AND I will always be nice to people who bring me chocolate…or coffee…if you bring me both, I’ll probably love you forever.A gypsy at heart, I write the way I live, following the story wherever it may lead, always ready to start the next one. This is clearly reflected in my body of work which to date includes everything from Children’s Lit to Thrillers.I happily reside in sunny Florida ( for now) and always enjoy hearing from fellow readers!!

Curious what would bring such a reaction, Deanna asked, “What’d she say? Did she threaten you?”
Harry pinched the bridge of his nose between his fingers and heaved a loud sigh. “She’s trying to bully us into stopping, warning us to stop talking to her step-sister or else.”
“Or else what? She’ll blow up your Jeep? Have us murdered?”
“She’s too smart to be specific. She just said we’d be sorry if we don’t drop this nonsense.” Then he hopped out of the SUV and grabbed his change of clothes from the trunk before escorting her to her suite.
“Do you think it was smart to invite her? We know what she’s capable of.” The witch made their surly guests look like helpful little Boy Scouts. She looked up at her partner in crime with a mixture of apprehension and love.
