Part of Paige Tyler’s DALLAS FIRE & RESCUE KINDLE WORLD
Releasing May 11
New to FDNY Engine 58, proby Paul Jefferson has no idea the expectations that the firefighters before him have set. He walks into his new job with an arrogance that’s sure to land him proby duty for the rest of his days but he has the professional skills to back his attitude. Loving every minute of his time with fire, Paul struggles to find his place in the FDNY brotherhood. Outside of the station, a true playboy at heart, he has no issues making connections, but there’s only one girl that holds his heart.
Paramedic Mariana Barbosa is new to the big city. Luckily, her path crosses with Paul Jefferson shortly after accepting her new position. The two instantly connect and become the best of roommates... or something like that. Behind closed doors, the two are the perfect couple without crossing any lines because Mariana is too afraid to risk their living situation to pursue what her heart is telling her she feels.
When Mariana feels betrayed by Paul, she jumps on the opportunity to date the handsome, good guy from work. Paul isn’t a fan of Mariana’s new boyfriend and starts to slack with Engine 58. Things don’t go as expected with Mariana’s new boyfriend and after she uses Paul to cover her issues, she pushes him further away until it may be too late for either of them to admit their true feelings.

Wicked in the Quad Cities Signing~March 2017

Well, another signing is in the books for 2017, two down and five more to go! My mini-PA and I loaded up in the car and headed to Rock Island, IL for Wicked in the Quad Cities yesterday. If nothing else, we got cool points for the awesomeness of #twinning we had going on while we rocked our Lyssa Layne shirts and red Converses.

We didn't realize there was a parade in town. We didn't get to see it but my mini-PA loved the decorations!

One of the best part of signings is catching up with old friends. Michele Shriver and I have been writing buddies since our charming days of Florida Georgia Line edits. I finally got to meet her last July at Writers on the River so it was great to see her again! Then I got to meet Amy Manneman who both her and Michele are in my upcoming box set, Luck of the Draw. We had a great time chatting and I'm pretty sure I accidentally made an inappropriate comment about "pulling out" in front of Amy's daughter so I apologize about that!

My mini-PA was a great helper at first... until she found a friend to play with then she deserted me! Or she'd come back to hand out swag to readers but then she started trying to give my books away, too, and I was like, "No, baby, that's buying our dinner!" She was kind of like a Sour Patch kid, "first they're sweet then they're sour!"

At one point, she ran past me at Michele's table and was holding my book. I stopped her and asked what she was doing, she told me she was just reading one of my books aka looking for sight words. #thankgoodnessnaughtybitsarentsightwords

Emily Pearson's daughter and her split their time between the movie theater under Emily's table and the dance floor in the room beside the signing. It was funny to walk by Emily's table and catch sight of either my mini-PA's hair or shoes hanging out of her table. Thank goodness the book community is part of our village!

OMG! I was super pumped that Angie from Writers on the River was there! She sported a Lyssa Layne shirt and volunteered at the event. FYI-I have a couple tickets to give away to Writers on the River in Peoria, IL on July 8 so if you're interested, hit me up!

Aubrey Wynne had these adorable turtle bookmarks that my mini-PA was eyeing from the moment we got there. Since she did so awesome during the event, I let her buy one which she promptly wore as a necklace!

Then as we were walking back from the bathroom before we left for the day, I caught sight of a photobooth and yelled at Angie to come jump in the pic with us.

Overall, it was a good afternoon! I got to see some great author friends, reunite with bloggers and readers, and the best part is that I'll see them all again in just a few months at Writers on the River!

Love & Famiglia: The DiDominzio Novellas by Yours Truly

Love and Famiglia The DiDominzio NovellasLyssa Layne
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Date of Publication: 3/13/2017
ASIN: B06VVKY7DV
Number of pages: 400Word Count: 157,013
Cover Artist: Amanda Walker
Book Description:
Meet the DiDominzio family—fiery, loud, Italian. Francesca, Antonia, Gianna, and Carmine were raised by their strict, old school Italian father. Each sibling has their own journey but how they find their happily ever after definitely isn’t easy.
The King and the Pawn- Francesca, the baby of the family, wants nothing more than to fulfill her dream of being a fashion designer. Unfortunately, Papa DiDominzio will stop at nothing to squash her dreams and lead her toward the traditional career of the women in their family. Francesca concocts the perfect plan to bring home a man her father will hate in hopes that he’ll make a deal so she can still reach her dreams.
Not in Love- Antonia, the sexy second to youngest DiDominzio, exudes nothing but sex appeal, especially with her non-traditional blue eyes. After dating one man after another, Antonia thinks she’s finally found the man of her dreams until she realizes the one she really wants has been right in front of her since they were children.
One Day as a Lion- Gianna, the eldest DiDominzio sibling, is the only one that has followed Papa’s wishes by marrying an Italian man and working in his restaurant. While her brother and sisters suspect something isn’t right with her marriage, none of them can prove any differently. However, there is one man that will do everything in his power to save Gianna from the man she calls her husband.
Destined For You- The only male sibling, Carmine is more like a second father to his sisters than their brother. There’s only two things that are important to Carmine-his family and his club. Keeping up with his sisters and running his successful business leaves him no time to find a mate. As luck would have it, fate falls into his lap, changing his world, in more ways than one… and not necessarily for the best.

Excerpt:
“But, Papa, this is the opportunity of a lifetime! Do you know how many aspiring fashion designers have the chance to build their own line of clothing at only twenty-four?”Desperation. Yes, there’s definitely desperation in my voice, but there’s nothing left. I’ve begged, I’ve pleaded, I’ve cried, but nothing has broken my father’s old-school Italian demeanor. This is a last ditch effort to convince him to sign off on the trust my Noni DiDominzio left for me so I can fulfill my career aspiration of my own women’s fashion wear. My boss is moving to France and has offered me to take over his line, giving me free reign on designs. All I have to do is come up with three months rent and it’s mine.“Francesca, in nine months, the trust will be yours to do as you please. However, I suggest you look at how your siblings used their inheritance. Their money was used to buy a house, a car, even start a business which is how Noni intended for you children to use it.”I throw back my head and let out an exasperated sigh. Lifting my head up to look at my father, I take a deep breath, knowing that I’m walking on thin ice. My father, Andrea DiDominzio, is Italian through and through. He’s got the full head of dark hair, the olive skin tone, brown eyes, and the man sticks strongly to his Italian beliefs despite the change in times. My siblings and I look exactly like our father, except for Antonia, my middle sister, who has blue eyes. However, we all share the loud, feisty attitudes which we’ve inherited from our father, his father, and his father’s father. Being the baby of the bunch, I have to fight louder than the others to be heard, but it still doesn’t mean I get my way.Speaking calmly, I nod, “I would be doing the exact same as Carmine. He used his money to buy the nightclub. I’ll be starting my career with Noni’s money. Papa, this is just the beginning of what I can do with my skills.”Papa leans back in his plush leather chair on the other side of his desk, his fingers steepled together. He’s not smiling with his lips but I can see it in his eyes. “Francesca, you know I don’t agree with your choice of profession and I can assure you Noni wouldn’t either. When you turn twenty-five, the money is yours so you can do as you please then.”“But, Papa, the opportunity will be gone by then and I’ll be out of a job!” I stomp my foot like a child not getting their way.
“Mia figlia, you know that you always have a job at the restaurant which would be an excellent place for you to meet a good Italian man to settle down with.”He’s smirking. The man is seriously smirking at me while he stomps all over my dreams. I’m not even going to entertain his suggestion. Turning my back, I grab my jacket off the chair and mutter under my breath in Italian. As I open the door, my father calls to me. “Francesca, ladies don’t speak that way. I’ll see you in a few days at our Christmas celebration weekend. With a huff, I slam the door to his office and let out a scream. My father is infuriating but I’m not giving up on my dream. One way or another, I will have my clothes in a show in New York Fashion Week. Just wait, Papa, I’ll make you proud despite not having your blessing.

All About the Indies~Arlington, VA

Whew! This author momma is exhausted! We just spent a whirlwind trip in Arlington, VA for All About the Indies Multi-Author Event. I'll get to the event itself but first, all the fun things we did...
One of our first stops was Sprinkles  for cupcakes! The judge from Cupcake Wars owns the shop.

We mastered the Metro and it only took us two full days to find out that I didn't have to pay for my Mini Me to ride!

We did a Monuments by Moonlight tour. Someone was asleep before we found the last monument but the weather was gorgeous for hanging out outside.

Then Saturday was the event! My helper stayed with me the entire time and was such a good helper handing out swag.

She even took this picture of me which I think turned out pretty awesome! You'll probably notice it as my profile pic.

I was surrounded by amazing indie authors!!!

And even had an ad to get my name right there was the itinerary!

Was this not a completely adorable idea? Event coordinators, you need one of these at your next event!

Dionda Fugitt wrote Adjust Your Crown for young ladies. I bought AR and I had a copy and her girls were so great entertaining AR. I can't wait to start reading this book, I think it'll even have some tips in it for me!

Reese A. Stephens was my awesome neightbor! I loved chatting with her and the email she sent me afterward just gave me chills because I love when I meet women who have been through the same thing I have and hearing their wonderful success stories.

So there you have it, another great signing in the books! Sade Rena did an amazing job putting this event together and is an awesome member of the indie community. Thanks for all your hard work, Sade!!!

Hurricane Matthew & Indie Book Fest

Well, Indie Book Fest 2016 has come and gone and I wasn't there. WAH!!! Damn, Hurricane Matthew cancelled now one but TWO of our flights to Orlando. Our original flight was Thursday night and I got an email that it was cancelled on Wednesday morning. I changed our flight to Friday, going through Dallas, and missing the entire Friday of IBF but by the skin of my teeth if all the stars aligned and our flights were on time, I would make it to Fanfar Friday night. As luck would have it, I got an email Thursday morning saying our Friday flight was also cancelled. At that point, I had to concede because I knew there was no way I would make it to Orlando in time for the Saturday signing at 3PM plus it wasn't logistically worth it since we would be flying back to MO less than twenty-four hours later. Luckily, I had sponsored the nametags so my logo was all over AND my mom drove to Orlando Saturday afternoon and manned my table for me. So not all was lost although I really missed seeing familiar faces that I'd been looking forward to seeing for OVER a year. I'm thinking we need to have a mini-reunion sometime before next year's event... just putting that out there for everyone to stew on...

So let's talk about Matthew for a minute... I'd planned on sharing this story at IBF this year although some already know this. Let's rewind to July 2015, my first author event-Indie Book Fest 2015... I was so pumped to attend, scared out of my pants, but so excited! My goal was to sell one book, meet my author buddy, Karina, and hopefully learn something. I walked away from that event having far surpassed my goal, connecting with someone I'd never spoken to before (online or IRL) that had read my books and loved them, and friendships with fellow authors and readers that only flourished throughout the year. I was seriously on cloud nine... then I came home. In a quick summary, kind of like a vague Facebook post or end of a book that you can't even understand, I came home from IBF, my husband didn't speak to me for a week then told me he wanted to get divorced. I won't go into details but it was for the better for everyone so don't feel bad or say sorry, it just is what it is. Now, just because it was for the better doesn't mean it was easy by any means. I survived though, and I'm stronger because of it, thanks in part to some of the amazing people I met at IBF and my beyond awesome support system back home. Now, we can fast forward to IBF 2016... I was pumped to see everyone again, having more signings under my belt and having cultivated and grown both working relationships and friendships with a lot of these people. I'd been looking forward to this event for MONTHS as was my daughter and my mom who were going to attend with me. Then, up and came Hurricane Matthew... Matthew, my ex's name. Oh, the irony isn't lost on me...

Amazing job on the event to Tawdra and Mandie, I can't even imagine all the stress they had but the event looked like it was a success... minus me, of course! ;-) Thank you to my momma for stepping up and channeling your inner-Lyssa Layne for me! Thank you to Catalina Egan for helping out my mom and thank you to the amazing book world that gathered in Orlando this weekend, you all rock!!! Until next time... and I'm totally serious about a reunion before IBF 2017!

Over the Fence by Lyssa Layne

The King and the Pawn

Loved by the Linebacker

RELEASE TOUR FOR:Over the Fence
by LYSSA LAYNE

GENRE: Contemporary Romance

Francesca "Frankie" DiDominzio is an aspiring fashion designer. The opportunity of a lifetime falls in her lap to start her own clothing line but she has to come up with the start-up money. The trust fund her Noni left for her would cover the cost she needs but there's one little problem-she won't get the money until she's twenty-five which is six months away. Desperately wanting to follow her dreams, she has to figure out a way to convince her old-school Italian father to sign off on the trust, releasing the money sooner than later.

Guy Sillars is fresh out of the military and not ready to face his family just yet. Instead of catching his flight to the South, he decides to spend some time in New York over the holidays. When Francesca approaches him with a proposition to pretend to be her boyfriend, he's too enchanted by her beauty to say no.

Frankie has concocted the perfect plan to get her father to release her trust fund early. Bring home a guy that her father will hate, convince him they're in love, and then agree to dump him in exchange for the money. The only problem is, the more time Guy and Frankie spend together, the harder it will be to let him go.

I sigh, dropping my shoulders. “Exactly. There’s no way this kind of offer will happen again either. My father is so hard headed and stubborn, especially since my mamma passed away.” I pause to make the sign of the cross, casting my eyes upward to show her my respect. “Of course, he had no problem when Carmine used his inheritance from Noni to buy La Bam but it’s a completely different set of standards when it comes to his daughters.”

“Okay, I’m following you now but where’s the non-Italian boyfriend fit into all this?” Guy’s eyebrows are arched high with the question.

My cheeks flush and I shake my head, looking into my now empty coffee cup. “It’s a ridiculous idea but I’ve already begged and pleaded my case and he refuses to budge. I had this wild idea that if I brought home a man that he wouldn’t approve of, I might be able to make a deal with him to ditch the guy if he gave me the money before my birthday.”

When I look up, Guy seems to actually be entertaining the thought. “Tell me how you see this working out.”

Surprised at his interest, I perk up and begin speaking quickly. “Well, I was thinking we, or whoever the pretend boyfriend is, would go visit my father, be all kinds of lovey dovey, and then let my father know I’ve accepted that I will have to pass on the opportunity but it doesn’t matter because I’m so in love with you, or whoever, that it doesn’t matter.”

Guy taps his thumb on his mug. “Have you ever been in love, Francesca?”

I squirm uncomfortably because the truth is I haven’t. I’ve dated, had boyfriends, but my passion has always been my work. “Other than with fashion, no,” I answer honestly.

The left side of Guy’s mouth lifts into a lopsided grin. “Well, if you’re in love with your career then it sounds like you have to go big to follow your dream.”

I raise my eyebrows, wondering what he’s implying. He stretches his hand across the table, holding it in front of me. “I can do that.”

My jaw drops and I shake my head. “I don’t think you understand what an Italian father can be like. The man’s stuck in his ways, and fiercely protective of his family, especially when it comes to his daughters and on top of that, I’m the baby of the family.”

He pulls his hand back and laughs. “Sweetheart, I’ve been to war, I think I can handle your daddy.”

His Southern drawl is strong when he makes this statement and I giggle. “Fine, if you’re up to the challenge of my papa then the job is yours.”

“Glad we have that settled. Now, I’m going to order some pie.”

He reaches for the menu and I quickly snatch it out of his hand. “Not from here. Come on.” I stand up, opening my clutch to pull out some bills to pay for the coffee. “I’ll show you how to treat your sweet tooth.”

I’m still flipping through the bills in my purse when Guy’s hand is on top of mine. My stomach flips at his touch and when I look up, he’s shaking his head. “I got this. I am your ‘boyfriend’ after all,” he says, his twang sending my heart racing and when he winks at me, I’m glad he’s still holding my wrist so I don’t fall over. “And here, put this on or you’ll freeze out there.” He holds his leather coat out, waiting for me to put my arms in the sleeves.

With an exasperated sigh, I slip the coat on and look up at him. “You’re supposed to be the opposite of the controlling men in my life.”

Guy smiles, wrapping his arm around my shoulders at we step into the cold air. “I prefer to call it gentlemanly, not controlling, so you should probably get used to it.”

I shake my head, fighting off the eye roll I feel coming on. Then, only because it’s sub-freezing temperature, or so I tell myself, I snuggle against the muscular chest of the Army man holding me. Despite his body heat and the warmth flooding my body from his proximity, my teeth still chatter and Guy pulls me closer as we walk a few blocks.

In a man's world, Camila Lemos is one of the top sports agents in the market. The athletes beg for her attention, not just for business, but in the bedroom as well. However, feisty Brazilian beauty Camila is more than meets the eye and refuses to become involved with any of her clients, no exceptions.

Linebacker Evan Purser is the newest man in his family to join the NFL. Guided by his older brother and fellow teammate, he signs with Camila. Once the agent and the linebacker meet, anything but sparks fly.

As the tension rises, so do the feelings for one another, but neither will admit it. Evan can’t let go of the past. Camila’s not sure she can risk her reputation for love. When the walls are broken down, will a touchdown be scored or will it be yet another fumble for both?

His hands are shoved in his pockets and he’s wearing a shit-eating grin, exuding nothing but cockiness. I shiver in my peach baby doll tank top, my teeth chattering when I begin to speak. It’s not that cold in Florida this time of year, but my nerves are taking over. Honestly, I haven’t felt this way since back in college.

Evan pulls his hands out of his pocket and easily draws me against him, his hands sliding up and down my arms. “Geez, Cami, you weren’t shaking this much when we went surfing.”

He’s right and the water temperature was in the fifties. Slowly, my confidence comes back and I shake his hands off me, taking a step back. “What the hell are you doing here, Evan? I’m working, you can’t just show up whenever you want to.”

“Whoa!” He holds up his hands in a surrender motion. “F**k, Cam, I came down to visit my mom and thought I’d surprise you. You really know how to show your appreciation,” he mutters the last part and brushes past me.

Ugh, I sigh and run after him. He stops beside a black Yukon to get his keys out and I grab his hand. He looks back at me, but doesn’t say a word. Softly, I squeeze his hand. “I’m sorry. I am happy to see you. You… you just took me by surprise.”

Quickly, Evan spins around and with one step has me pinned against the SUV on the other side of his. “What are you so worried about? We’re friends, right? Blake pulls this kind of shit with you all the time, why can’t I?”

I stare up into his blue eyes clouded with anger. My fingers walk up his chest as I can’t tear myself to look away from him. “Evan, you’re not Blake…”

His eyes get darker and he takes a step back, muttering, “Of course I’m not and I never will be.”

My fingers clench around his sweater, keeping him from moving. “Blake doesn’t show up and make me feel the way you do. When Blake’s with me, I’m not constantly worried about what everyone else thinks.” I pause, unsure where this honesty is coming from but deciding to just roll with it. “When Blake’s with me, I don’t just stare at his lips, wanting to taste them so bad, but knowing they’re off limits.”

Evan’s chest rises and falls under my hand, his eyes go from a dark midnight blue to almost a baby blue color and a smirk comes to his lips. “Who said they’re off limits?” He takes a step back to me, his body crushing me against the car behind us.

My heart in my throat, I’m barely able to squeak out, “Me.”

Evan doesn’t make a move, he just stares at me, a smile dancing in his eyes while his hand moves to my stomach. Goosebumps tickle my skin as his fingers walk over the chiffon fabric of my shirt.

“What if no one knew?” he asks, his breath almost a growl and my panties are immediately wet. “I don’t kiss and tell…”

Colie Adger is trying to make it in the big leagues as an athletic trainer. Working in a man's world isn't easy. Colie must figure out how to make the best decisions for all the men in her life—both on and off the field. As good as she is at making decisions for others, can Colie figure out her own heart and hit a homerun off the right pitch?

Fear of Striking Out

Shortstop Tate James has been traded from the all-American town of Milwaukee to the trendy City of Angels. This ball player is less than excited about his new hometown. That is until he crosses paths with beautiful Mia Tomko. She lets him know that not all L.A. women are just after fame and fortune. When someone from both of their pasts arrives, will it tear them apart or make them closer?

Another at Bat

Pitcher Jace Richards had it all. Fame, status, money, and the perfect girl but it wasn't enough. Unable to curb his gambling addiction, he lost everything. Laurel Darbis is the mom to ten-year-old Grey. Grey is about to start baseball with his friends but their coach backs out at the last minute. All of the parents are thrilled when the new coach arrives, everyone except Laurel.

A Diamond is Forever

Pitcher Benny Martinez’s longtime girlfriend Isabel Soltero is struggling to raise their teenage son on her own as Benny travels with his team. Both parents are afraid that history will repeat itself but with Benny on the road, Isabel is doing her best to be both the mother and the father to him. Throughout Benny’s travels, he watches his fellow ball players, Grant Adamson, Tate James, Jace Richards interact with their family and he soon realizes what he’s missing. It’s time Benny makes a decision which comes first—his family or his career?

Lyssa Layne is first, and foremost, the proud momma to her precious daughter, AR. In addition to working full-time and being a mommy to AR, she is also an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan, a runner, blogger, and an infertility survivor.
Having watched one too many medical dramas and being inspired by author Rachelle Ayala, who introduced her to the world of indie writing, Lyssa decided to try her hand at writing a romance story. Her attempt turned into the Burning Lovesick series. You can find Lyssa's own interests throughout her stories although all stories are fictional.
