Artusi Ristorante - Piazza Horizon - Golf Course Road Gurgaon
An authentic effort to serve top-notch Italian food is what makes this place so special. The team has made an honest effort to bring a slice of Italy to Gurgaon. I went their for a quite lunch. The place is warm and inviting with pink roses on every table and white rose bushes outside the place. They even have an outdoor seating plan but liquor and wine is not served outside.
At Artusi Ristorante the food which is served to the guests is cuisine of the Emilia-Romagna region, a beautiful part of north-eastern Italy. It is the home of famous products used in fine dining around the world. While the original Parma ham (Prosciutto di Parma) and Parmesan cheese (Parmigiano-Reggiano) are produced in the city of Parma, the original balsamic vinegar comes from the city ofModena, and the Bolognese sauce from the city of Bologna, all located in the Emilia-Romagna region. Core to the cuisine of the Emilia-Romagna are its home-made outstanding pasta creations. Endless varieties include Tortellini, Ravioli, Cappelletti, Strozzapreti, Lasagne, Tagliatelle, and many more. The flour used is specially imported for that special taste.
Oscar Balcon, the passionate restaurateur and the man behind this place also hails from the Emilia-Romagna region. As expected, he understands the food well and has maintained the genuineness of the food from his home land.
The Emilia-Romagna is also the native land of Mr Pellegrino Artusi who has been the inspiration for this restaurant. Pellegrino Artusi is considered a founder of the Italian cuisine by virtue of having authored a book in 1891 called 'Science in the Kitchen and the Art of Eating Well'. This seminal work is renowned as the first Italian cooking book written in the kingdom of Italy and has remained a culinary reference point for fine Italian cuisine around the globe since its first publishing.

Indian politics, data analysis and data security
I am reading a lot of fuss about data privacy and leaks? Apparantely political parties are using Social Media and Data Analytics to influence elections. But how is it new to us? Indian politics has always been influenced by data alone. That it has transformed from sheets of A4 size paper to digital format is a mere progression.
We Indians have had never any privacy over our personal data. How do you think we kill people during riots? Using data sheets from electoral rolls to check where people practicing a particular religion live.
Governments have the caste census done so that we know who will win the election. Because we vote for castes. Elections in India are always about data analysis.That is how you get a ticket from a political party. That's how psephologists predict who will win the election. The dominant caste decides the verdict eventually. So you got to know which is the dominant caste and which way will it swing.
In India, we have at least 10 or more central agencies just collecting our personal data. From the National Survey to Election Commission, Aadhar, Ration Cards, Passports, are we really such fools to understand that only Aadhar is insecure? Our data was never secure. To debate that is it secure today or not is a moot point.

Digital Spine: : A Study in Business Strategy by Vikram Kalkat, Reto Gruenenfelder
This is a business strategy for the digital era. It’s all about identifying the business drivers of digital revolution that’s happening all around us.
As digitisation takes hold of developed economies and new companies, business trends are appearing all around us. These trends are putting to question the conventional wisdom and business models of companies that have thrived for decades. Several of these digital themes and new age company business models are only understood by all of us only intuitively, or through fragmented themes of articles and interviews. There is a lot of talk but no proper end to end structure defined.
But in all this digital chaos there is a logic, and a structure for survival. The authors have attempted to provide a business model to help clarify how these new companies are challenging the existing corporates and world business order often successfully, and what will distinguish winners from losers in this era of the millennials.
This book provides:
• A Business Model to help strategise market forces and give a step by step approach to analyse directional trends;
• Case studies to better clarify on how to strategise both trends and as well as threats;
• An overview of the digital shift and key themes for the future to watch out for.

SIPPING TENNESSEE’S FINEST WITH JEFF ARNETT
The Master Distiller of Jack Daniel’s in his first visit to India, hosted a special ‘Masterclass’ which included a tasting session of the Jack Daniel’s family of brands
New Delhi, India – March 6th, 2018: Jeff Arnett, The Master Distiller of Jack Daniel’s, conducted a very special Masterclass for a walk through of the brand, including tasting whiskies from the portfolio of the oldest registered distillery in the USA.
Arnett is one of only a handful of individuals who have held the title of Master Distiller in the history of the distillery which began production in 1866 and this is his first visit to India.
Jeff, often said to have one of the best jobs in the world, spoke about various aspects on the history and legacy of the oldest registered distillery of USA and the nuanced craft of making Jack Daniel’s. He also gave fantastic insight into his experiences and his life in Lynchburg, Tennessee, a dry county since the early 20th century, which is also the home of the only Jack Daniel distillery in the world.
The Masterclass enabled the audience to learn more about this unique whiskey and one-of-a-kind experience and discover how Jack Daniel’s differs from Scotch and Bourbon. Jack Daniel's is dripped slowly, drop-by-drop, through ten feet of firmly packed charcoal before going into new charred oak barrels for maturing. This special step of charcoal mellowing makes Jack Daniel's a Tennessee Whiskey and renders it a rare smoothness.
The tasting session included Jack Daniel's Old No. 7, Gentleman Jack, Jack Daniel’s Single Barrel, Jack Daniel's Tennessee Honey and Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Fire.
ABOUT JEFF ARNETT
Jeff Arnett was named master distiller of the Jack Daniel Distillery in 2008. His supervision of the entire whiskey-making process of milling, yeasting, fermentation, distillation, charcoal mellowing and maturation ensures the world’s top-selling whiskey label is both in constant supply and true to Jack’s guiding belief that “Every day we make it, we’ll make it the best we can.”
In 2001, Jeff took his first job at the distillery in quality control and overseeing Jack Daniel’s Single Barrel. Since then, his work in a variety of capacities throughout the distillery, including warehousing, maturation, distillation, charcoal mellowing management, barrel quality and bottling, as well as being a member of the Master Tasters’ panel, have primed him to spearhead the entire operation. Jeff was honored by Whisky Magazine as “Master Distiller of the Year” in 2017.
Arnett is one of only a handful of individuals who have held the title of Master Distiller in the history of the distillery which began production in 1866. Jeff is proud to accept the enormous responsibility that comes with having one of the most envied jobs in the world.
A native of Jackson, Tenn., Arnett received a degree in industrial engineering and worked the food and beverage manufacturing industry for 11 years before moving to Lynchburg in 2001. Jeff and his wife, Lori, have two children. When not in Lynchburg, Jeff travels the world as an ambassador for Jack Daniel’s, sharing the brand’s stories with all he meets.

Brij Literature Festival - GLA University Mathura - January 2018
On 27th - 28th January, 2018, Literario, the student literature club of GLA Mathura organized the Brij Literature Festival. Literary festivals are great places to be at and when the students asked me to visit this one, I felt humbled.
They requested me not only to visit the festival but also deliver workshops, my signature blogging workshop and another one on story telling. The festival itself was very well planned. The students, members of this club I mentioned, had really sweated it out to create a perfect event. I even remarked this to one of their professors, who confirmed that yes, it was the hard work of the students which really reflected on the success of the Fest.
