White Bricx Cafe - Baani Square - Gurgaon
On a neat corner of Baani Square, lies the White Bricx Cafe with uber cool interiors and an outdoor seating space with artificial grass, palms and swings. They have a great menu with Continental, Indian and Chinese options.
They make their own Chicken Nuggets and I would recommend it definitely. The Nutella Shake is another thing which they make great. Fish n Chips is not that great but The Peri Peri Pizza and the Lasagne are quite good. Go for the European stuff here. And don’t forget the brownie and the fried ice cream.
The ambiance is very comfortable and the seating perfect for close private group or couple settings.
The service is very good with a smiling staff with the right recommendations and happy to serve attitude.

Andrea's Eatery - Saket New Delhi
Its been quite many months since I last traveled down to Delhi and on the insistence of so many recommendations to try out this small little eatery. Andrea's Eatery does serve okayish food but that's where the story ends. The place is cramped, service is horrible and the menu overpriced. Imagine, I am about to eat my main course (Literally cutting it with my knife ) when the server finally asks "sir regular water or mineral water?"That is not surprising as every server seems to be serving every table. I had to repeat orders and instructions to five different people.
The management was arrogant and least bothered. The place does look filled up which is because the layout is like old school tea shops outside bus stands and railway stations. You are sitting so close to other guests that you can even hear someone whispering a table away. Its predecessor of sorts was so much better. At least the customer service didn't ruin your day. And the menu was more streamlined than the "everything you think we can cook we have put in here menu".
There is a little method or order to the menu in general. And the dessert menu is not a part of the main menu. That's something if you humbly request one of the many servers roaming around, they will delve into a drawer and take it out for you. On request. The one star is for the taste of the food. It was not wow like I have tasted much better food many places, but it wasn't inedible either. I am not a great expert on juices but that did not look like a freshly squeezed juice to me. The tagliatelle was okay but sole fish not that great.I wish I could have ordered it home, would have saved me from their mismanaged, clueless service. But then who knows, whether the management would have pulled that off either? An overpriced hole in the wall, too pretentious and snobbish minus the warmth and goodwill a hole in the wall eatery would exude.

Boho by Nagai - Sector 29 Gurugram
My past experience with Nagai, the Japanese/Asian restaurant next to Gymkhana Club in Sector 29 had always been great. So, when I heard that they had converted the basement into a bar called Boho by Nagai, I marked my calendar for a visit.
The team at Nagai basically has blended the goodness of Nagai with Bohemian vibes making this a great cocktail bar. the music is not so loud, the lighting is so perfect and the sitting so private yet open. The walls adorn some very creative paintings which I am told are put with collaboration with artists who have put them on sale.
The service is quite good as expected. Nagai is one of the best Japanese/Asian restaurants in Gurgaon, partly due to its perfect service and Boho doesn't disappoint either. The recommendations of the staff are always worth heeding too. So this time too, I nudged the guy to help me with the menu.
The menu itself is great. I am not a big fan of Menus which look like tomes of archeologists. Some eateries just try to do too much. The Menu at Boho fits on an A3 sheet. Simple and has just the right things you want with your drinks. My first recommendation would be Gambas Al Ajilo. One of the best prawns I have ever had. The come on a sizzler plate with the shrilling sound of hot chili garlic oil. You eat them with garlic bread and just go wow.
If you like Baos the Teriyaki Chicken Bao is a quick snack to grab. Nothing fancy, your routine Bao just done right. They also have adopted items from the Nagai menu like the Sushi, but I already eat Sushi upstairs all the time so skipped it at Boho. Instead, I went with the staff recommendation of AkamiTuna Pizza. If you are a seafood/fish/tuna fan you will love it. It is like an acquired taste. Not everyone I believe will love it. But it bowled me over.
Staying with the fish family I also tasted their Calamari. Again fried well, served with tartar sauce it tasted great. These guys make good seafood I guess because the fish tastes so fresh. It makes a hell lot of difference to the taste.
Desserts are not something you look forward to at a bar, but I do. The moment I read the menu I knew that they were same as they serve at Nagai. They just have 3 options and it is a challenge to decide which not to eat. All three are perfect.
But that's not the story here. The story of the bar is the bar. I always see at most bars, cocktails are not that great. Somehow, something always disappoints me. Might be too much sugar or soda or ice, something is off. Here what I liked was the preparation was great. Quantity is not that flowing but taste wise, its good. I tried Herbacious, Mogami and Golden Andean. Loved all three of them but loved Herbacious more. Then I was told that Golden Andean is one of its kind drink in Gurgaon. Reason, they use Pisco a Peruvian drink which is stored and made in earthen ware. You can feel that earthy tinge in your cocktail and it feels so good.
What is awesome at this place?
Almost everything. Location, Food, Service, Ambience.
What is not so awesome at this place?
Ah the prices, wish they could have been lower. And the enterance is via the Nagai restaurant.

Chup - Deepa Narayan - Book Review
Do you pride yourself on being a strong woman? Do you aspire to be one or support one? Do you consider yourself a feminist? Chances are that you behave in ways that areexactly the opposite, as this pathbreaking book argues. In this rigorously researched book, based on 600 detailed interviews with women and some men across India's metros, social scientist Deepa Narayan identifies seven key habits that may dominate women's everyday lives, despite their education, success, financial status and family background. These behaviours may seem harmless, but each one has enormous impact, and it means only one thing - that Indian women are trained to habitually delete themselves. Shocking, troubling and revolutionary, Chup will hold a mirror to yourself - and you may not like what you see.

How the Bhartiya Janta Party has destroyed the concept and hopes of Ram Rajya
From Kathua to Unnao, girls being brutally raped like they are every other day but these two cases, taking the nation by the storm have one thing common. The rapes have open sanction from the ruling political party of the day and the populace of the regions. And the Bhartiya Janta Party stands a common factor, the common support system for rapists from any part of the country.
Indeed, the silence of the top power guns, especially the entire women leadership from the party is deafening and shocking. External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, the Women & Child Minister Maneka Gandhi, the always quick to respond Smriti Irani, all such respected leaders of our country are silently standing beside the rape accused. Their silence is a consent for potential rapists that they can rape the country's women, as long as the votes keep pouring in. The entire Modi Cabinet has killed any hope we had for a Ram Rajya, Atal Bihari Vajpayee so promised us.
People might say that religion does not matter in such cases, but I say it does. When the ruling party, the Chief Minister and even our Prime Minister seems okay to have 8-year-old children raped in a Temple, so much so that their minions come out on streets to support the rapists, our religion matters. What kind of Hindus are we, to allow girls to be drugged, raped and killed in our Temples? What kind of Hindus are we to shout Jai Shri Ram to show solidarity to rape accused?
As I read about Unnao, where a BJP lawmaker is accused to rape a girl, I can easily connect the threads to distant Kathua. Same lust for power, the Bhartiya Janta Party is so hung over on. But how does it justify raping of little girls? When I wrote my second book Avenging Act, I read someplace how rape is about power. Yes, the macho image of our Prime Minister and his trusted confidante in Uttar Pradesh will certainly get a good boost. Let me remind you about the Ram Rahim Case where the BJP government in Haryana supported a crowd, a cavalcade to glorify the rape accused. Or have you forgotten the Chandigarh DJ who was stalked by a son of a BJP leader?
Shyama Prasad Mukherjee, Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Lal Krishna Advani, the leaders who laid the foundations of the Bhartiya Janta Party would never have imagined that their party would be a shield for the rapists. That the ideology of a Ram Rajya will become an excuse to abuse and rape.
We Indians have let so many Asifas happen. We have been the crowd that supported Unnao and Kathua. We choose these people to represent us again and again. But it is not those girls who stand naked today. Yes, we tore their clothes down but it is we the society that stands naked today our core exposed to the World. As to how we let these things happen and how rape is a normal stuff for us.
An 8 year old girl was drugged, raped, murdered and then raped again to satisfy the lust of a few men. It has had happened in India since times forever, nothing new to it. But the way police and the politicians are baying for more lustful adventures, it is high time we stop this beti bachao non-sense.
It seems that the Narendra Modi government wants us to save the girl child only so that their supporters can rape them while the leadership stands in silence and let them do any heinous act as they seem fit. As long as the votes keep coming. As long as the power and comfort of the throne is within their reach.

THE BUMBLEBEE FLIES TO INDIA
One rainy afternoon back in 1923, Albert Messmer, a football fan and a fine boot maker, was distraught seeing the conditions of the players who had no control on their moves and were rendered helpless in the muddy waters of the field. This reminded him of the bumblebee which flies despite its weight. He worked tirelessly to perfect the shoe that would make the footballers akin to the bumblebee, known as hummel in the German language. Thus came about the first ever football studs and is a tribute to the bumblebee that never gave up despite its weight.
95 years after that rainy day hummel has now set foot in India, from where they have been running a substantial part of their production. Christian Stadil, the owner of the parent company Thornico says he would visit India often and has seen it grow before his very eyes. Getting to know the Indian market and its audience first hand, Stadil decided to that India need to be more than just a production hub and it had to be long term. Unlike most brands which first look at China and thereafter consider moving into Indian markets, hummel went the other way. They made their foray in the e-commerce space in India to test waters and now after a couple of successful ‘beta testing’ months, is sought to launch in China in a month or two.
“India is a broad prospect for us to explore into the diverse culture and ethos which is part of the Karma that we so believe in at Thornico. Progress of India excites us a lot. The GDP growth of India as compared to other markets is highly impressive. Most importantly, there is a huge potential for alternate sports brand with a different offering than the existing mainstream sports brand.” Christian Stadil (owner of the Thornico group & hummel International).
Under the leadership of Stadil, who took charge in 1999, hummel has incorporated "Company Karma"; a business model which looks to utilize sports to promote change in some of the world's most disadvantaged communities. This move has transformed the company from a simple sports brand into one of the most socially responsible corporate entities on the planet. hummel operates on the motto to “Change the world through sport”. This has taken hummel to unchartered territories where other brands have not ventured into. While many brand campaigns feature the underdogs, the focus has always been on winning. For hummel, sport doesn’t imply only winning, it isn’t about finishing first, it’s about finishing together.
Overcoming boundaries and parameters set by communities and the audience, hummel overcomes and has broken all stereotypes where other brands fail. This is majorly reflected in their sponsorships for the National Amputee team of Sierra Leone (hummel has given people the power to hope even through wars and lost limbs) and also by designing the first ever hijab jersey to encourage the women of Afghanistan to play football and again bring hope where it seems bleak. The Afghanistan Women’s football team has won some and lost some matches, but they are making a much larger impact in the world. They have championed a cause and broken a barrier. That in itself is an achievement. Path breaking, is not a new term for hummel, it is engrained deep in our nature as well as culture.
Currently selling on Jabong & Myntra in India, hummel is already on its way to create new records. With a very high retention rate, hummel ranks in the top league of all available sports brand selling on Jabong & Myntra. In addition to its existing collection, considering India’s diversity, hummel is looking to come up with a more vibrant collection to cater to the colorful palette of the Indian audience. CEO Allan Vad Nielsen said that, “India is one of the top most focus market for the brand, hummel”. He added, “We will create branded content & products for the Indian market because we are here to stay”.
