Blog posts African Monsters
The coffee table book African Monsters is out Tuesday 15th. We are running a blog tour in the coming weeks over at Fox Spirit Books with posts from the editors and several of the contributors.
I will not post each time a new blog post is out, but all the links will be found both here and at Fox Spirit Books. The authors and artists will tell a little bit more about the monster they have written a story about, about African monsters in general or other things on their minds. We start today wit...

African Science Fiction 101: update 2
Lovely post from awesome Mark Bould and a mention about African Monsters – thank you! *beams* African Monsters is out Tuesday 15th.
The months since my last update have been crazily busy with other things, so there has been little time for research and even less time for actually reading any of the goodies I’ve uncovered. Most of which are annoyingly inconvenient sizes and shapes to lug around with me over my Xmas perambulations. But I thought I would post another list before Xmas...

My Favorite African Science Fiction and Fantasy (AfroSFF) Short Fiction of 2015
A lovely list from Wole Talabi, and a mention to coming African Monsters (thank you).
Originally posted on Wole Talabi:
I have always loved ‘Best-Of’ SF/F short story collections, lists, anthologies. ‘The Hugo Winners’ anthology originally edited by Isaac Asimov was where I first foundmost of my favorite authors. There is something about stories that move someone enough to want to collect them in a group and say to someone else, “Here, you should rea...

British Fantasy Award
Last night Fox Spirit Books was awarded the British Fantasy Award for Best Independent Press. Well deserved for Adele Wearing after three years with all the hard work.
Sadly I couldn’t be at FantasyCon, but I have cheered and toasted from my couch in Denmark and also cried a little, I’ll admit.
I am especially happy on a personal level because Adele was the one picking out a story of mine in September three years ago, as one of the winners in her Talk Like a Pirate Day writing competition. Th...

Table of contents for Winter Tales
Today Fox Spirit Books released table of contents for Winter Tales, the wonderful anthology I am editing, coming early 2016.
I received over a hundred submissions to this anthology – so many excellent winter tales and poems. It was a difficult task to select the final stories and poems. I am very pleased with the table of contents. The book will open with a great story from Mat Joiner and continue with dark and frosty tales from both new and established authors like Adrian Tchaikovsky, Ruth B...

Review: Waiting for the Machines to Fall Asleep
“Many of the tales circle around ethical questions connected to the relationship between humans and machines. Though there is disappointingly little about this book that screams “Swedish”, except for the nationality of the authors and the editor, I would still recommend the book for all lovers of science fiction, because the tales told are a really good read.
Read my review of the anthology Waiting for the Machines to Fall Asleep, edited by Peter Öberg, over at The Future Fire here.
