Cycles in Reading

I don’t know about you guys, but sometimes I go through cycles when it comes to books. Sometimes I get on a YA bender, or sometimes I find I can’t get enough of a particular time period with Historical Fictions. Right now, I’m on a Native America spell. I think I can accredit this to the fact that I’ve been playing Assassin’s Creed III, which has a half-Mohawk protagonist and is set during the American Revolution. A lot of people don’t like this game, but I’m loving it.

What about you guys? D...

Family Vacation….

Right now, I’m near the tail end of a family vacation at the beach. My husband’s parents have a place in New Jersey and they invited us a long to stay with them for the week that they are there. It’s been kinda fun, but all the family fun time is really starting to get to me. Now I don’t know about you guys, but every now and again I need a little alone time.

But I have been having fun. I’m at the beach. I’ve had my fresh seafood, and even had some funnel cake from the boardwalk. I’ll post up...

Summer Vacation!

It’s the most wonderful time of the year! Summer Vacation!! For the next two months I AM FREE!

anigif_enhanced-buzz-28443-1358877050-6

No kids to worry about. No reason to set my alarm. No reason to go to bed at a reasonable hour. Just pure unadulterated freedom! And it couldn’t have come sooner. For the past few months, I have been utterly useless. As soon as I got home all I wanted to do was veg out and go to bed.

After I give myself a little vacation, it’s back to work for me. I’m woefully behind in my writing but I...

Happy Father’s Day

A big thank you to all the daddies out there today. Thank you to the father who cannot be with his family because he’s fighting over seas. Thank you to the man who chose to be a father to a child that is not his own. Thank you to the fathers who are doing it all on their own. And a thank you to the fathers who are gone but not forgotten. To those men, this poem is for you.

For as long as I could remember
you were there
from moving to new schools
you were there
Scraped knees and broken dreams...

Hurry Up and Grow!

Last year I finally got my garden. Granted it was small, but I didn’t want to do too much too fast. I have another one this year and I have added to it. I still have tomatoes and peppers, but I’ve added carrots, parsnips, and green onions. Every day I go out and look at my garden, silently urging it to grow faster so I can enjoy it better. This year, I also started my very first herb garden. It’s nothing special, but it’s a start. I have peppermint, rosemary, and lemon thyme. The nursery didn...

So Sorry

So sorry I haven’t posted anything in a month. Earlier this month I had to make a mad dash to the ER because the left side of my face went numb. Don’t worry, it wasn’t anything truly serious. Somehow I contracted Bells Palsy. I was laid out for a week because my eye kept getting inflamed because I couldn’t blink or truly close it. I am better now but I have been playing catch up at work ever since.

It’s EOG time. Oh boy. Please note my lack of enthusiasm. anigif_enhanced-18169-1432159960-9

Whew! Glad this week’s over

Man, I thought going back to work after Christmas break was tough. I think Spring Break is even worse. Not only are the kids starting to stress out over EOGs, but they are also extra catty with each other. I think by the end of the week, I was ready to rip my hair out. But at least the worst is over. They’ll be a little shaky on Monday, but they’ll start to get back into the swing of things…hopefully.anigif_enhanced-18625-1400109503-2

But on a happier note, I planted my garden and my radishes are already coming up. Yeah! I ju...

Outlining

So after weeks of neglecting my writing (I know, I know) I ‘m in serious outlining mode. I had previously gotten up to six chapters but I had hit a wall. I started writing in hopes of breaking through my blockage. Well, it worked. I’m outlining up a storm and if things keep on the way they are, Souls in the Dark will end up being bigger than The Lost Guardian. I’m not sure how I feel about this. I mean, as long as the story is told well I really shouldn’t care about the size, but I’m slightly...

Poem of the Month

This poem isn’t mine. It’s from a book that I bought years ago. Now normally I would put one of my old poems up here, but if truth be told, many of them are cringe worthy. So instead of posting nothing, I wanted to share one of my favorites. I might do this from time to time. I like poetry, there’s something to the rhythm. Anyways, this poem is from the 9 th century, no one knows who the author is but I hope you guys like it as much as I do.

TGIF

Thank flipping god it’s Friday!

anigif_enhanced-buzz-28844-1385150869-38

I don’t think I could have lasted another day. Right now I’m trying to stave off sleep in order to get some editing done but I think sleep may win out before too long. I can feel my eyes starting to burn a little. I know I should sleep, but my brain is in hyper drive. Although, last night, apparently, I passed out as soon as my head hit the pillow. I don’t think I have been this tired since my Marine Corps days.

Hopefully next week will be a little easier for...
