Luck of the Draw?
As you all know, I'm the mother of a toddler. As such, I'm always on the lookout for things that she would either enjoy or find useful in some way. The latest item in this never-ending treasure hunt is something seemingly simple.
A chair. Nothing fancy...simply something upon which my daughter can sit and lounge comfortably (and safely) if she so desires.
The thought never occurred to me until the other day in which she continuously sat in the chair (pictured to the left) of her little friend w...

Website Launch!
Hello again, my friends!
I only have a small announcement to make this time...
I am very pleased and excited to announce that I have just launched my very own website! Yes, I realize that I'm coming late to the party, but what can I say?
Self-publishing a novel is a great motivator!
This website is intended to act as a central location for all information and updates (there will also be readings!) related to my novel Dragon Guardian: Fire as well as the the other novels in the series that wi...

Ballad of a Self-Published Author
Surreal as it still might be for me to see my name emblazoned across the cover of my novel, Dragon Guardian: Fire, it still fills me with a great feeling of accomplishment. However, the feeling of accomplishment aside, I can't deny that there have been moments since the publication of my novel in which I felt like literally pulling out my hair.
I never once thought that being a self-published author would be easy. I never once maintained any illusions of velvet ropes parting and people ru...

'Star-Crossed'...Original Idea or 'Alien Nation' Reboot?
So yesterday, while I was catching up on Supernatural, I caught a caught a trailer for a new scifi series set to air on February 17th of this year on the CW--
Star-Crossed
.
Targeted at teenagers and young adults, Star-Crossed revolves around a human high school girl and an Atrien (the alien race of the show) high school boy as they embark upon a relationship together. Now, at first glance, Star-Crossed seems like a remake of Roswell , another xeno-centric show that aired on t...

Common Cold?
Hello, my friends!
It's been a while since I've made a New Year's resolution, but this year I resolve to blog more regularly (once a week at the very least). With that in mind, allow me to muse upon a concept that's been rolling around in my brain pan for quite a while now...
The common cold.
When one thinks of the word 'common', one's mind is usually drawn to things that seemingly unextraordinary or special in any way. Something common is usually deemed as not being worth writing home about. It...

Dragon Guardian: Fire

I come to you with glad tidings! As of this week, after an epic saga that stretched over the course of fourteen years (wow...I never really realized that it had been that long until just now), I can OFFICIALLY say that I am a published novelist!
Fourteen years...it all seems so surreal now.
It all started back in my Senior year of high school, when I took a creative writing class as an elective on a whim. The concept of the class was simple...turn in a new...

Mass Effect...From Beginning to End

Naturally, it took me a good long while to finish all three games. Between my being the kind of gamer who does every single side-mission that comes my way before I truly get started on the main quest line, and my only being able to play a little at...

Gygax...Honoring the Legend
In 1974, the world changed forever when Gary Gygax introduced the Dungeons & Dragons role-playing game. The legacy of his innovative ideas continues to influence games to this day, forty years later.Gamers of the table-top variety all know the name Gary Gygax.
After all, he is to table-top gaming what Stan Lee is to comic books. For those of you who aren't table-top gamers (and thereby have no idea what I'm talking about), Gary Gygax is the creator of Dungeons & Dr...

The Gamers: Hands of Fate...Ballad of the Girl Geeks
While I am a geek, I'm also a mother, and as the mother of a very curious and active 15 month old, I often don't get the time to touch upon everything that I want to touch upon within a blog post because any blogging that I manage to squeeze into my day is limited to when my precious daughter is asleep...
And even then, it has to share time with chores that can only get done while my daughter is asleep.
As a result, I basically just try to get as many of my thoughts down as quickly as possible...

A Poor Girl's Guide to Free MMOs: 4th Amended Edition
Hello, my friends!
Here I am yet again with news of another free-to-play MMORPG that has just been released (it's actually still in the open-Beta stage (meaning that people can play while the programmers work out any residual kinks and bugs)). I am speaking of course of Dragon's Prophet, a game in which you are able to capture dragons and train them to fight alongside you as your trusted companions while you journey through the world of Auratia and defeat evil...one quest a...
