Book review now up!

Hello, Write Edge readers! I’ve posted my latest book review for you. Today I share my thoughts on This Might Hurt by Stephanie Wrobel. Here’s the opening to my post:

A woman travels to a remote island to bring home her sister who has joined a cult. As she grapples with the secret she carries, she discovers that the cult may be more than a program for self-actualization. Author Stephanie Wrobel returns to the difficult spaces between trauma and grief with the slightly disturbing but utterly compelling book This Might Hurt.

The last full week of February!

Hello, Write Edge readers! Can you believe it’s the last full week of February? I can and I can’t, all at the same time. Admittedly, two of the three weeks in February so far have crawled by with snow storms keeping the kids home and me biding my time until the wind and snow subsided. Hopefully, this last week of the month will be better in terms of weather.

No matter what the weather is like where you are, I promise to do everything I can to stay on track with this very full week of content we have. First, this week’s flash fiction. As always, the excerpt is only one sentence long:

The jury seemed set against me from Day One, never mind that this was a white-collar crime.

Read the whole story now on The Write Edge Writing Workshop!

I realize I didn’t update my Instagram on Friday, which means those of you who follow me there didn’t get a #bookreviewpreview of this week’s book. On Wednesday I’ll share my thoughts on This Might Hurt by Stephanie Wrobel. Find that review on The Write Edge Bookshelf in the middle of the week!

Last week I also missed posting my thoughts for Thursday R.E.A.D.s on The Arc by Tory Henwood Hoen as an Author. This Thursday I’ll post that as well as what the book meant to me as a Dreamer. Check out the previous two installments on The Write Edge Bookshelf.

And the end of this week brings us the last Friday of the month, which means a new Growth Chart. Curious to know what the kids and I have been up to this month? Find out in my latest installment of parenting adventures on Growth Chart!

Take care of each other and yourselves, readers!

Book review now up!

Hello, Write Edge readers! I’ve posted my latest book review for you. Today I share my thoughts on Full Flight by YA author Ashley Schumacher. Here’s the opening to my post:

Two teens begin a friendship in a small town and must ignore the gossip and the dirty looks from everyone around them. As their friendship turns to love, they learn how to see the best in themselves and one another. Author Ashley Schumacher writes with all heart but lets her characters drift without a plot in the well-intentioned but disappointing book Full Flight.

My love to all of you on this day!

Happy Valentine’s Day, Write Edge readers! I’m sending all of you my love and gratitude for your support and encouragement through the years. Thank you so much!

It’s another full week here in the middle of February, and we’re starting it off today with this week’s short fiction — micro fiction, in fact, which, as you might know, means no excerpts. The story might surprise you, considering today’s supposed to be a happy one, but I think love stretches and reaches across a variety of times and spaces in our lives. For more (and to understand what on earth I’m talking about,) go now to The Write Edge Writing Workshop!

On Wednesday I’ll share my review of the book I previewed last week on Instagram in my #bookreviewpreview. This week you get to find out what I thought of the upcoming release Full Flight by Ashley Schumacher. Check it out on Wednesday on The Write Edge Bookshelf!

Then, on Thursday, we go back to the Bookshelf again for this week’s installment of R.E.A.D.s. This quarter I’m doing a deep dive into The Arc by Tory Henwood Hoen, and I’ll tell you what I thought of it as an Author. Keep an eye out for it!

At the end of the week, it’s back to Instagram and all the little bits and pieces of my writing and non-writing life. Check out older posts with my handle, @EktaRGarg, or see the little sneak peeks here on the home page.

Take care of each other and then yourselves, readers, and tell someone close to you that you love them. You don’t know who might need to hear it most today, and I guarantee that love will come back to you twofold.

Second installment of Thursday R.E.A.D.s now up!

Hello, Write Edge readers! It’s a gray day here in Central Illinois, but I’m grateful for the fact that the snow has started to melt. It’s still cold, make no mistake about that, but at least the driveway isn’t so slick anymore.

I’ve posted my second installment of this quarter’s Thursday R.E.A.D.s. This month I’m taking a deeper dive into The Arc by Tory Henwood Hoen. Check out what I thought of it as an Editor by going to The Write Edge Bookshelf now!

Take care of each other and yourselves, readers!

Book review now up!

Hello, Write Edge readers! I’m excited to share this week’s book review with you. Today I give you my thoughts on How to Find Your Way Home by Katy Regan. Here’s the opening to my post:

A brother and sister reunite after being separated for more than a decade. When the sister tries to help her older brother get back on his feet, their unresolved issues force them to confront one another. Author Katy Regan builds a heartwarming, and occasionally heartbreaking, sibling relationship in her latest novel How to Find Your Way Home.

Our first full week of February!

A very good evening to you, Write Edge readers! We’re now into our first full week of February, and here in Central Illinois we have heaps of snow that have been pushed to the last parking spots at grocery stores and in mounds on yards. The temperatures are supposed to creep up a little this week — just enough to give us a fair share of slush over this week and next.

But no matter! Here I’ve got plenty of new content to keep you warm. First, this week’s short story. My commitment to flash fiction continues, and today’s story surprised me. When I picked the prompt this morning, I had no idea the piece would take the direction it did. I’m so grateful for those bursts of creative light bulb moments. They keep me coming back to my keyboard day after day.

Here’s a one-sentence excerpt from today’s newest short fiction:

You were the same but you weren’t, because you realized that second chances were only for movies and people who looked a certain way.

Read the whole story now on The Write Edge Writing Workshop!

Last Friday I teased the book I’m reviewing for this week in my #bookreviewpreview. On Wednesday I share my thoughts on How to Find Your Way Home by Katy Regan. That review goes up on The Write Edge Bookshelf!

Then the next day I come back to the Bookshelf for the second installment of this quarter’s Thursday R.E.A.D.s. This week I share my thoughts as an Editor on The Arc by Tory Henwood Hoen. Check it out later this week, again, on The Write Edge Bookshelf!

Friday I hop back onto Instagram to share what I’m reading for next week and other fun tidbits from my writing and non-writing lives. Find older pics with my handle, @EktaRGarg, or by visiting my Facebook author page (you can also get a sneak peek here on the home page of the blog.)

And that’s it! Don’t forget to take care of one another and then yourselves. Have a great week, readers!
