Our first full week of February!
A very good evening to you, Write Edge readers! We’re now into our first full week of February, and here in Central Illinois we have heaps of snow that have been pushed to the last parking spots at grocery stores and in mounds on yards. The temperatures are supposed to creep up a little this week — just enough to give us a fair share of slush over this week and next.
But no matter! Here I’ve got plenty of new content to keep you warm. First, this week’s short story. My commitment to flash fiction continues, and today’s story surprised me. When I picked the prompt this morning, I had no idea the piece would take the direction it did. I’m so grateful for those bursts of creative light bulb moments. They keep me coming back to my keyboard day after day.
Here’s a one-sentence excerpt from today’s newest short fiction:
You were the same but you weren’t, because you realized that second chances were only for movies and people who looked a certain way.
Read the whole story now on The Write Edge Writing Workshop!
Last Friday I teased the book I’m reviewing for this week in my #bookreviewpreview. On Wednesday I share my thoughts on How to Find Your Way Home by Katy Regan. That review goes up on The Write Edge Bookshelf!
Then the next day I come back to the Bookshelf for the second installment of this quarter’s Thursday R.E.A.D.s. This week I share my thoughts as an Editor on The Arc by Tory Henwood Hoen. Check it out later this week, again, on The Write Edge Bookshelf!
Friday I hop back onto Instagram to share what I’m reading for next week and other fun tidbits from my writing and non-writing lives. Find older pics with my handle, @EktaRGarg, or by visiting my Facebook author page (you can also get a sneak peek here on the home page of the blog.)
And that’s it! Don’t forget to take care of one another and then yourselves. Have a great week, readers!
