Book review now up!
Hello, Write Edge readers! Today I’m sharing my thoughts on the new release, Meant to Be Mine, by Hannah Orenstein. Here’s the opening to my post:
A woman meets her supposed soulmate on a prescribed day but struggles with whether he really is “the one.” As she tries to keep an open mind about love, she comes to realize that lifetime happiness may be more complicated than a simple prediction. Author Hannah Orenstein takes an interesting concept but gives it fairly dull treatment in the lackluster novel Meant to Be Mine.

Into June we go!
Good evening, Write Edge readers! We’ve officially started summer break around here, which means time stretches and pulls like saltwater taffy. At last I’ve gotten a chance to sit and talk to all of you, though.
I’ve posted this week’s short fiction and do so with a disclaimer. When I started this year, I did so with a commitment to writing micro or flash fiction. Somehow, though, some weeks I find myself writing longer than that. This is one of those weeks. :> Here’s the excerpt from the story:
The login screen appeared, and Meera dropped into her chair and typed in her credentials.
“Here we go,” she murmured.

Next is this week’s book review. If you saw my #bookreviewpreview on Friday, you’ll know that this week I’m reviewing the brand new release Meant to Be Mine by Hannah Orenstein. Find out what I thought of the novel this Wednesday on The Write Edge Bookshelf!
And on Friday it’s back to Instagram and all the shenanigans in my life, both writing and non-writing related. Come check out my previous pictures with my handle, @EktaRGarg, or on my Facebook author page (where there’s other cool stuff exclusive to FB.)
Stay hydrated and safe, take care of one another, and do good.
Have a fantastic week, readers!

Book review now up!
Hello, Write Edge readers! I’m sharing a new book review with you. Today I’m letting you know what I thought of The Favor by Nora Murphy. Here’s the opening to my post:
Two oppressed women in similar circumstances find themselves in unique positions to help one another. As they observe each other from the periphery of one another’s lives, they will fight societal norms that dictate how they should behave. Debut author Nora Murphy does an admirable job of highlighting a serious problem but doesn’t quite give the novel the depth it needs in her first book The Favor.

The best-laid plans…
Happy Memorial Day, readers! You know the old saying: “The best-laid plans get laid by the wayside.” Once again my writing and posting schedule for last week got thrown out of whack by a variety of non-writing and posting elements. All I can say is I will do my best going forward for the summer.
That starts with today. It’s the last Monday of the month, which means our monthly writers’ showcase. Today I’m sharing a story that spooked me, one that challenges conventional writing rules, and more. Find them all at The Write Edge Writing Workshop now!
In the middle of the week, I’ll post a brand new book review for you. Last Monday I promised you a review of Blake Crouch’s new book Upgrade. I’m going to put that one back on the shelf for now :> and share with you my thoughts on The Favor by debut novelist Nora Murphy. Find that review on The Write Edge Bookshelf!
Also on the Bookshelf is the last installment of Thursday R.E.A.D.s (even though we’re past the end of the second quarter of the month.) Find out how I viewed Chris Hauty’s book Storm Rising as a Dreamer. Catch up with previous installments here on The Write Edge Bookshelf.
Finally, we go back to Instagram on Friday, and I’ll share with you some fun we had as a family over Memorial Day weekend. Find older posts with my handle, @EktaRGarg, or on my Facebook author page (where you’ll also find content exclusive to FB.)
Have a great week, readers. Stay hydrated, stay safe, do good, help one another.

The last full week of May!
Hello, Write Edge readers! While it’s later than I would have liked, I’m back on track with my posting schedule today. Yay for sheer determination!
It’s the last full week of May. Honestly, they should do a whole presentation in kindergarten about the fact that when you get older, time moves faster. Who knew we would be looking at the end of the school year already?
I have this week’s short story for you. Here’s the little excerpt:
If no one knew about the stuff he did to Gaby—and maybe other girls—at least he would get punished for something. But it wasn’t Mr. Parsons, and the missing girl stayed missing.
Read the whole story now on The Write Edge Writing Workshop!
This week, I have a brand new book review for you of a novel that’s coming out later this summer. Bestselling author and screenwriter Blake Crouch has a new book due out in June. Find out what I thought of Upgrade on Wednesday on The Write Edge Bookshelf!
Also on the Bookshelf, this Thursday find the final installment of this quarter’s Thursday R.E.A.D.s. I’ve been taking a deep dive into Chris Hauty’s Storm Rising, book three in the Hayley Chill series. Check out the last thoughts I have for this book analysis later this week.
And then, finally, at the end of the week, find out what’s going on in my corner of the parenting world on Growth Chart!
Stay safe, do good, and take care of each other, readers!

Running to catch up…
Hello, Write Edge readers! I know, I know, once again I’ve left everyone hanging. I’ve had several afternoon meetings that came up without forewarning that took out writing/reading hours for me. As I’ve gone through these meetings and other tasks that have taken time away from The Write Edge, I’ve done a lot of thinking about how to rearrange my day so I can definitely make time for the blog. I’m not going anywhere, don’t worry about that. But sometimes I have to rejig my schedule a little to make it all work.
I think I have something in place. For now, I’m sharing some of this week’s content with you so we can get back on track (sort of!) First, my latest book review. This week I share my thoughts on the new release Such Big Dreams by debut author Reema Patel. Here’s the opening to my post:
A young woman struggling to survive is offered an opportunity to start fresh. As she navigates what such an offer might mean, she deals with office politics and the utter ignorance many people have about her station in life. Debut author Reema Patel gives readers a story lush with details but slightly sluggish in plot in her book Such Big Dreams.

And on the Bookshelf this month is the latest Thursday R.E.A.D.s. This month we’re diving deeper into Storm Rising by Chris Hauty. Check out all of this month’s installments so far here on The Write Edge Bookshelf!
Stay safe, do good, and look out for each other, readers!

Sunny days are here again…!
Hello, Write Edge readers! Today we finally, finally saw the sun after what felt like a year’s worth of rain last week. As the days get brighter and longer, we’re all looking forward to summer break. Yay for vacation!
It’s the start of the week, which means my weekly short story. Here’s a quick excerpt:
He rolled his eyes but smiled at her affectionately, and for a minute or two Stacey missed the “them” they’d shared.

Next, if you missed my #bookreviewpreview on Instagram this past Friday, this week I’m sharing with you my thoughts on the novel Such Big Dreams by Reema Patel. Find that post this Wednesday on The Write Edge Bookshelf.
Also on the Bookshelf this week is the second installment of Thursday R.E.A.D.s where I take a book and examine it more closely over the month as a Reviewer, Editor, Author, and Dreamer of stories and books. This week I’m taking my second look at Storm Rising by Chris Hauty. That’ll pop up on Thursday on The Write Edge Bookshelf.
And, on Friday, it’s back to Instagram. Hopefully this week I can share some of our sunshine with you. Check out previous posts with my handle, @EktaRGarg, or on my Facebook author page.
That’s all from this corner of the world tonight, readers! Stay safe, do good, and look out for each other.
