Malcolm X was born on May 19, 1925. Malcolm would have turned 90 today.
Here are some of my favorite Malcolm X quotes to celebrate his birthday:
“I just don’t believe that when people are being unjustly oppressed that they should let someone else set rules for them by which they can come out from under that oppression.”
“My Alma mater was books, a good library… I could spend the rest of my life reading, just satisfying my curiosity.”
“Stumbling is not falling.”
“Nonviolence is fine as long as it works.”
“You can’t separate peace from freedom because no one can be at peace unless he has his freedom.”

He did the beastie and I drew the lady from Hackers on it.
same guy here, past the fil barlow arc, do you have anyone (or you) working a 5th one?
There’s some other 8house stuff planned with other creators but those might be their own comics separate– Like how From under mountains, is set in the same universe but it’s own book.

oh, i thought the ''you and marian'' arc was 4 issues long, same as the emma rios and fil barlow arcs. past issue 9 do you know what's gonna happen? i guess its up to sales, right?
In 8house— yeah the Arclight stuff me and Marian do is 4 issues long. it’s just being broken up with other 8house stories in between.
Issue 10 will be the 3rd Arclight issue. I’m not sure yet how long 8house will run for but I suspect we will be able to do whatever we want with it. Prophet always did low in issue sales but better in trades and I suspect the 8house stuff will click with a lot of the same people

I'm very excited about Island myself. Any way on how to order the magazine or is it just gonna be going to the store like any other comic?
It will be sold through comic stores and I assume comixology and the usual places one gets comics. (but it’s larger than a comic too–by like an inch)
Sorry if this has already been answered but what's the reasoning behind Island? Is it for creators who can't manage to keep up with 1 issue/month, for shorter series and 1 shots, for stuff you wouldn't normally see in a comic book, creating a people who ma
I guess the short version is that I’m trying to put together what I would be most excited to read every month.
I don’t think the work in it will feel like anything else coming out monthly. The vast majority of the work is single creator. ( I think with the exception of Matt and Malachi’s story.) the creators who are in it who don’t draw are doing text pieces. (like Kelly Sue in #1)
A big part of what I like about the comics community is talking about other artists whose work I’m excited about– soo this is a chance for me to put a lot of that in one place. In a different scene than a lot of the creators in it might be seen in. – Like this will be the 1st time Michael Deforge or Onta are published by Image.
I have really high hopes for the book. When talking to Emma (Rios) the idea was to use it as a platform to really push ourselves.
I dunno if that sounds pompous, but right now at Image feels like the best opportunity that I’ve ever had to really see what we can do on a creative level. seems dumb to not try and push it.
(plus it’s a way to sell multiple issue length comics for cheaper than they would be if we published them by themselves– 112 pages no ads $7.99
