Was Metal Gear Solid a significant influence on Prophet, or is that my imagination?
Not for me. Maybe more of Snake Plissken from the John Carpenter movies. –which I think was an influence on the Metal gear game. I could see Giannis being into those games but we’ve never talked about it.
Here’s a page from Shirow’s Appleseed where Snake shows up:

Wait. Mr. Stokoe is a 40K fan? ‘Cause that sounds like a match made in heaven (if he’s up to more WFH; I wouldn’t presume to speak for him.)
Ya, James paints 40K figures too. Years ago him and Sheldon Vella were talking about doing a Space Marian split comic. It would’ve been cooool.

Knights of Sidonia Vol. 9 – by Tsutomu Nihei
I like how Nihei’s art progressively becomes looser as Sidonia goes on.
It’s like he becomes Miyazaki meets Moebius at Yasuhiko’s house.
