Hey man, Island is super fucking dope but are you planning on including any shorter comics in there? I mean, like 1-8 pages long? I love the format and the material that's there, but some short stuff might break things up a bit, especially if the longer st

We’ve got a 6 pager in #3 and a 18ish pager in there too.

Ideally I want the shorter stuff in Island to not be standard comics but more articles in comic book format or illustrations or articles.

Personally I like having more room for stories to breathe and then later get collected. 20 to 50 page chapters.I’ve never read a comic in HM or Epic and been like “mann I wish that was shorter!”

but yeah, thanks for the nice words I hope it can go for many many years too. I’m having a great time with it.

steinerfrommars:

Mirror is a four part sci-fantasy story arc, created by Hwei Lim and yours truly, that will run from November to February published by Image Comics.

Connected with the 8house universe it follows the House of Healers, a noble magical guild focussed on flesh and body magic.

Each issue will contain 28 pages ( out of 32 ) of comic narrative: a main story written by me and drawn by Hwei and short epilogues written by Hwei and drawn by me, directly connected, to show more quiet and intimate interactions within the characters that will bring more light to the intrigue. I’ll also draw the rest of the backmatter that will include concept art, designs, timeline keys, a glossary… all in  watercolors.

We describe the first book like this in the previews:

What is worthy of being human? EMMA RÍOS (PRETTY DEADLY, ISLAND) and HWEI LIM (LALAGE, HERO) team up to tell a new story within the 8HOUSE universe. MIRROR follows a terrorist talking dog, an idealist mage and a heroic lab rat on their quest for acceptance.

The rest will include animal rebellions, captured aliens, unfortunate quests, mythological creatures, misconceived humans, impossible love… and, in general, lots of drama.

The official title, or numbering, is 8house #6 Mirror Part One (of 4) and will be in stores on November the 12th.

This is a rather small book, and preordering helps a lot. If it works we may be even able to continue developing the universe. Here is a pdf with the preorder form we did to make things easier. You can download it directly from here:

All these characters are precious to us and we are putting a lot of effort on the book. We truly hope you like it.

PSst…

If you want to know more about 8house you can read this great article Zainab wrote for Comics and Cola. And maybe take a look at this one where I tried to explain how the magic between the different teams works.

Also, just so you know, 8house Kiem by Xurxo and Brandon is out next week, and it’s to die for.

Thanks a lot for your support. Always.

I don’t really think of it on any sexual satisfaction level. I think I’d feel weird posting it if that were the case. Even when I post porn comics that I like it’s  never like “hey look at what I masturbate to!”– that’s not really the relationship I want with people.

But I’m also not some monk. I like drawing naked stuff.
