i really like charlie and i dont know why. whats her personality like?
I like her too! You might see more of her in the future*. She’s based on a friend of mine, but that’s difficult to pull off maybe!
Carroll the cloud lady in The Tower was supposed to be entirely based on another close friend of mine, cartoonist Emily Carroll.

When I started writing her I was thinking “Here we go, here’s Emily.” She was going be frank and funny and married to a bluejay named Kate, but as I wrote the character it all made less sense. It was funnier and more interesting for Carroll to be isolated, defensive, dissatisfied, and perpetually running away from her problems. That’s not Emily. Emily’s great.
So I don’t know about Charlie! I know in my head Charlie is like my friend Lacey but we’ll see how it comes together! I think no matter what Charlie is a unique and interesting pup.
*wink.
whut u kno bout Drakuun? worth a shit?
I always like Joji Manabe comics. I haven’t read that one but I bet it would be just as fun as his other work.
Also, just look at that bird dude guy on this cover. What a cool dude.

I'm curious about your thoughts about the work of the Bode's work. How do you feel about Vaughn's work? How do you feel about Mark's work and how much it bleeds over into Vaughn's? It is a unique situation.
Vaughn Bodē’s work a big influence on my stuff. I always mention him when thinking of the idea of an artist leaving an imprint of their personality behind in their work.
Bodē’s comics feel like a time capsule of who he was. It feels like he was having a great time making it– and it feels like no one else’s work. (although I have a theory on the influence of
V. T. Hamlin’s Alley Oop on his work– which would make Alley Oop like pre pre Graffiti style)
Mark Bodē’s is strange in that it’s so derivative of what his father did. I imagine it’s his way of interacting with a father who died when he was so young. It’s kind of cool in that sense and that he’s carrying on the legacy.

Hi! I've followed your past series with Image from issue to issue since you go to the trouble of actually making them cool little art objects- back covers, extra backup comics, etc. I'm trying to cut down my spending, though, and I was wondering if the bac
Thanks for getting the issues–
but yeah all the 8house backup stuff should be in the trades. (At least in Arclight & Kiem they will be– Mirror, FUM and Yorris are up to those guys doing them) The only thing with 8house trades is that because some of the stories are staggered they might take longer to come out than the average monthly.
I was just re-reading Paul Pope's Heavy Liquid and I saw that you had a letter in the final issue. "Pope is the Barry White of comics because he pulls off relationships so well: 'This next one's for the ladies.'" Any other comics you had letters published
I can’t think of any. My mom had a letter published in Spider-man if that counts.
Will you be doing sketches at SPX and is there any sign-up form to register for one?
I will be.
I mostly just draw for whoever wants to wait in line.
