'Xoc' on the way!

I should get my office copy from the publisher (Oni Press) in a couple of days. Here's a photo of the book on my editor's desk in Portland, Ore. I can just feel the ocean life pulsating through it!

Books out this summer

It's gonna be a busy, busy spring and summer! First, I'll be doing some comics workshops locally, with a Boy Scouts pack and with a few schools and libraries, as well as a couple of signings at comics book stores. I'll also be at Book Expo America and at the American Library Association annual convention in June to do signings and a couple of panel discussions featuring Trickster and the upcoming District Comics (courtesy of Fulcrum Publishing and Consortium Book Sales & Distribution). Speaking of which, below are the covers for three books coming out this summer, all in full color! They are already available for pre-order at Amazon.com, but I encourage you to ask you local comic shop to order your copy!

Xoc: The Journey of a Great White (Oni Press, July 25, 2012)
Mr. Big: A Tale of Pond Life (Sky Pony Press, Sept. 1, 2012)
District Comics: An Unconventional History of Washington, DC (Fulcrum Publishing, Sept. 11, 2012)

District Comics!

I've been working on another big anthology, this one featuring my beloved Washington, DC. Very fun and unique stories about the District and its residents, from post-Revolutionary War to current times. District Comics will be published by Fulcrum Publishing (publisher of Trickster ). It will likely premiere at the Small Press Expo in September, but I just might have a few copies at the annual American Library Association convention this summer, if all goes well on the production side.

Here's the cover, with illustration by Brooke Allen:

Waiter, there's a shark on my table

We had lunch at the Dogfish Head Alehouse, where we turned the paper kids' menus over and had fun drawing stuff with crayons. I did a shark, of course.

Some love for 'Sing, Sing'

Artist pal Paul Zdepski's mini-comic Sing, Sing is a nominee for the SPACE Prize, an award given at the annual Small Press and Alternative Comics Expo in Columbus, Ohio (April 21-22). It's a stunning little book. Here are some of the interior pages. If you're eligible, consider voting
for it; or better yet, buy a copy!
