German Book Prize 2024: The Shortlist - New Books In German

Panzer's next stop today was at the New Books in German site.
According to Sarah Hemens post, the German Book Prize has announced their 2024 shortlist. There are 6 novels on the list. Each listing has a plot synopsis, an author bio, and a link to get a short sample in English translation. There's a link at the end of the post to go to the German Book Prize and read about the prize. (It's in English.)
Panzer says, "The prize will be awarded on October 14."

Hilary Weston Writers Trust Prize for Nonfiction - Writers' Trust of Canada

Panzer's last stop today was at the Writers' Trust of Canada site.
The shortlist for the Hilary Weston Writers' Trust contains five nonfiction books. Click the See More button under each book to see what the Jury Citation says about the book. The jurors and their bios are listed below the shortlisted books. Hilary Weston's bio is below the jurors'. The winner will be announced November 19.

The U.K.'s Booker Prize for Fiction Names It's 2024 Shortlist - Publishing Perspective

Today Panzer decided to spend some time collecting news around the Catosphere about 2024 book awards shortlists. His first stop was at the Publishing Perspectives site.
Porter Anderson's post has the nominees shortlist for the Booker Prize for Fiction. There are 6 novels on the list. The winner will be announced on November 12. The post includes information on how the books are chosen for the longlist, shortlist and the winner. There's also information about how winning the prize effects book sales. There are also links to more information about the Booker Prize included in the post.
Panzer says, "The judges do a lot of work to pick the winner."

Facing Author Lawsuits, Shawline Publishing Re-Brands as New Found Books - Writer Beware (R)

Panzer's second stop in the Catosphere today was at the Writer Beware (R) site. Our traveling kitty pilot always finds useful writer information there.
Victoria Strauss' post delves into an Australian publishing company called Shawline Publishing. The company advertises itself as a hybrid publisher. Shawline Publishing is being sued by several authors so the company simply changed its name. Under the new name, New Found Books, it's continuing to do business. The post contains examples of author contracts and book royalty complaints. The post also includes links to other information about this company and its practices.
Panzer says, "Victoria Strauss is definitely a bad guy's worst nightmare."
