California Readin’ Reader Event
On March 25, 2017, a dream afternoon for romance readers will unfold at the Embassy Suites in Brea, California. I’ll be one of dozens of authors giving away swag, playing games, and celebrating our mutual love of romance fiction. The event only costs $5 and will provide an opportunity to hang out with authors, win prizes, and pick up tons of new reads. Sign ups start November 15th, but you can join this Facebook group so you won’t miss a single update. Hope to see you there!

CTRWA Fiction Fest Recap
Last weekend I was fortunate to attend Fiction Fest, a writing conference put on by the Connecticut chapter of RWA (CTRWA). It was my first east-coast conference and also the smallest (or I should say, most intimate) conference I’ve attended. I was keeping my expectation neutral, but the conference was superb. It was extremely well organized, and everything ran like clockwork. I was extremely impressed with the variety and quality of the workshop offerings. I got tons of amazing information a...

RWA16 San Diego Conference Recap
The RWA national conference was a whirlwind few days, but I can honestly say I grew and learned more in those three days than in the whole year before it! It was a fabulous conference with so many wonderful opportunities to meet new people and reconnect with contacts and friends. I had a blast and can’t wait for next year. I’m not going to do a detailed rundown, but here are some photos of the highlights.

California Romance
I’m preparing to go back to California for the first time since we moved last summer. I’ve been missing my family and friends, and also the flavors of SoCal, so expect me to be over-indulging in In-N-Out before the long drought begins again. It’s a social trip, but also a business one, as I’ll be spending several days in San Diego at the Romance Writers of America annual conference. This is the big one, 2000 romance writers gathered in one place to talk, pitch, learn, and collect way too many...

Pink Dogwood
There is a pink dogwood tree in my back yard. This is the first spring I’ve seen it bloom and it has been lovely. Even in the rain the pink petals flare like ballerinas pirouetting. Everything else in southern Connecticut is getting greener by the day. I have to wear my sunglasses to protect me from the glare of green. It’s glorious!

New firsts
Since I have two small children, I find myself documenting their firsts a lot. First steps, first words, first haircut. After those initial milestones, there are different firsts to look forward to. First day of school. First night away from home. First (gasp!) date. But I like to remember that my kids aren’t the only ones discovering new things. We never stop having firsts. Just this past week I tried my first oysters. I like seafood and shellfish and I lovesushi, but I’d never had the chanc...

United by coffee
I don’t drink coffee. I’ve never been able to tolerate the jitters even a mild jolt of caffeine gives me, but I love the smell of coffee and the rituals associated with it. That’s probably why most of characters are dependent on the stuff. My desire to be coffee-adjacent often has me sipping herbal tea at one of the many Starbucks of Fairfield County, mystill-new-to-me home. I can write away from the distractions of home (kids, laundry, husband, usually in that order) and instead revel in the...

Happy book birthdays!
A year ago the final two novellas in the Weston University trio came out back-to-back. Happy book birthdays to Sweet Imperfection and Endless Devotion!
I’ve gotten such lovely reader feedback on both of these titles, and I’d be hard pressed to say which I enjoyed writing more. I hope you’ll check them both out and let me know whichwas your favorite!

Spring forward
I’m learning that spring in Connecticut is an inconstant thing, prone to mood swings and impossible to predict. Sort of like some annoying romance heroines, to tell the truth. The warmer than average winter we had was a nice way to ease into East Coast life, but as the days being to warm in earnest, and (a little late March snow notwithstanding) the trees and plants start to bud and burst more fully into life, I find I actually miss the slower pace that winter weather brings. The chill air an...

How to make a vision board
Every year around the start of the new year, in lieu of a list of resolutions, I make a vision board instead. A vision boardis a collage of pictures and words cut out of magazines or other printed materials and glued together on a big piece of paper or cardboard. I hang the board near my desk and it serves as a point of inspiration during the year. I like that I don’t always know why I might be putting a certain image or idea on my board, but by the end of the year I can look back and seecert...
