Best Birthday Cake Recipe Ever

Birthday Cake? I'll just have one peice. For each of my arms.

I’ve been using this recipe for years and it never misses. It has that old-fashioned birthday cake look and feel, but it’s super moist and flavorful and plays well with any frosting you like. TBH, my favorite is chocolate frosting from a can! It also stands alone and doesn’t need any frosting at all.

I adapted it from a recipe that appeared in Real Simple May 2011.

Ingredients:

1 cup unsalted butt...

Can’t Hurry Love is Here!

It’s release day for Can’t Hurry Love, aka Lani and Reed’s story, aka Book Four in the Never a Bride series. I can’t believe this series is wrapped already! Lani has a big secret in this book, and so do I–I think it might be my favorite in the entire series!!

Lani is in some ways the most enigmatic of the Never a Brides, and it was a blast to get to know her better by writing this book. Her ex, Re...

Release Day for Can’t Fight This Feeling

It’s release day for Kate and Oliver’s book, Book Three in the Never a Bride series. I had a lot of fun writing this one. I’ve never written a pregnant heroine before, and it was always something I wanted to do.

Kate’s a strong woman, and she wants to pretend like she can do everything on her own (something I can sadly relate to all too well). When she meets Oliver, she’s not expecting to actually...

2020 Books in Review

I adore Goodreads. (Friend me!) Every year they encourage users to declare a reading challenge, and I love a challenge. I’m pretty competitive, especially with myself. I love being able to look back on my year in books.

2020 was one of the strangest reading years. I rely on the library for many of the books I read, so the few months when there was no library access at all were really tough. I read more ebooks than usual, for sure. I al...

NaNoWriMo: For the Win

My NaNoWriMo journey started in 2008. A coworker friend of mine mentioned this crazy challenge—writing a 50,000 word novel in 30 days. What? The wannabe novelist inside me was intrigued. The competitive side of me that always loves a challenge was aroused. I attempted my first NaNoWriMo that year, and have participated every year since. I’ve only “won”—written 50,000 words or more—five times since. But this year was my biggest word cou...

Learn with Libby: Oct & Nov Classes

My kids are back in school, the leaves are starting to change, and my favorite time of year is right around the corner–yes, I’m talking about NaNoWriMo! National Novel Writing Month is coming up in November, and I’m teaching a number of classes at the Westport Writers’ Workshop in October and November that dovetail nicely with this writerly season.

All of these classes are on Zoom and are limited capacity. Did you know the WWW offers s...

My first Booksweeps Giveaway

So it turns out that writing a book is just a small part of being an author–especially a self-published one. I’m delving into the wonderful work of book marketing and advertising, and have my first Booksweeps promo going on right now. I think the best part of being an author is the community, and being a part of something like this is great because it exposes me to writers and books that are new to me.

Release day for Can’t Make You Love Me

Can

The second book in the Never a Bride series is out today! When I first got the idea for this series, Ophelia and Jamie’s story was the one I was initially most excited about, so even though it was always supposed to be the second book in the series, I wrote it first–oops! Note to self–write series in order next time.
