SENIOR DOG JAKE SLEEPS ON BIBLE

Senior dog Jake fast asleep on my Bible. Jake is one of 18 mostly special needs and senior rescued dogs in the ministry's care. This super sweet senior who keeps me company as I write DAILY INSPIRATION, books, and more, seems to know who gave him his miracle. He was headed for heaven months ago along with my beloved Red, co-founder of the ministry, but has stuck around for now. All glory to God for this extra precious time with him.

CRAZY BIG NEWS ABOUT LARA'S 3 BOOKS

Call me crazy, but I already know I am. And it's not 'cause I took a vacation on the psychiatric ward years ago. Call me crazy for Christ. And it just so happens that I'm so crazy in love with the Lord that I've decided to offer all e-book versions of all three of my books for FREE, and all paperback versions of all three books for a donation of any amount. Now how's that for crazy, right? I mean, I'm living on a tiny personal budget and a tiny ministry budget. But the Bible tells me God love...

DAILY INSPIRATION 12/18 - Have Suitcase, Won't Travel

My heart is His, and it doesn't take a plane ticket, a suitcase, and a travel itinerary to get to Him. The love of my life lives inside my heart, and it's a good thing He's near me 24-7 because this is how I would describe my travel life. Have suitcase. Won't travel. But why? After all, God goes wherever I do. So why don't I just book a flight, gas up the car, or grab a ticket for a cruise? Have suitcase. Won't travel. Easy answer. I already told you. My heart is His.
Little Miss Miracle, a se...

DAILY INSPIRATION 12/18 - Game Time? Follow the Leader

Whose lead are you following? Remember the game called follow the leader? According to Wikipedia, the game entails choosing a leader and then lining up behind the leader. The kids have to mimic whatever the leader does. If they don’t follow or properly mimic the leader’s actions, guess what. They’re out of the game. Sound familiar? So whose lead are you following? Are you following the world's lead, or are you following the Lord's lead? Whose game are you out of? Whose game are you in? Are yo...

DAILY DEVOTIONAL 12/17 - QUIT PRAYING

Quit praying. Did I seriously just tell you to quit praying? Yes. I sure did. But before you smack me or simply quit reading this piece about why I want to encourage you to quit praying, let me explain. And, before I go even a single step further, let me say this. Don't stop praying. Not unless God tells you to. And something tells me He probably won't. But let me say this, and sooner than later you will understand what's sitting right on top of my heart just now.

Do you know the number one co...

Little Miss Miracle's Big Miracle

Little Miss Miracle has a mighty big miracle to share, or several big miracles to be most accurate. Little Miss Miracle, a senior, disabled, severely neglected, emaciated, dog rescued just months back by God's grace alone was given a prognosis by her vet in Virginia of possibly only several weeks to live. Given her age, disability, Lyme disease, horrific fleas, hookworms, mange, severe anemia, ear infection, eye infection, and tumor on her neck and probable terminal, aggressive cancer, I coul...

DAILY INSPIRATION 12/16 - Down's Syndrome Man Sings to the Lord

I am not sure I have ever heard a more beautiful sound. I am also not sure I have ever heard a person sing more off key. And that says a lot, because I sing so off key that I am embarrassed to sing in a church. But the man with Down's Syndrome who listens to me preach - when he's awake for it, that is - sings so off key that I sound like an angel in comparison. Only I am no angel, and this man surely must sing with a chorus of angels in heaven.

He doesn't speak, not much anyway. I can't unders...

DAILY INSPIRATION 12/14 - Homeless Man, Mom's Coat, Humble

His humble question was simple. Just like he is.

"Do you have sleeping bags?" the homeless man asked in his quiet, a-little-hard-to-understand voice.

He knew I had at least one. I held it in my hands. I stood by my car outside the soup kitchen. I had brought five. Five sleeping bags, and God only knew where they needed to go.

"I do have some sleeping bags. I gave you a sleeping bag last year, didn't I? What happened to it?"

"Stolen," the man replied.

DAILY DEVOTIONAL 12/14 - GOODBYE BABY BOTTLES

Do you know what flew out of my mouth yesterday as I preached at the assisted living facility where I preach weekly now? It wasn't pretty, but I'll tell you anyway. I never do know ahead of time what will come flying out of my mouth, because I study and prepare my heart and pray and turn it all over to the Lord. He surprises me when I preach just as much as anyone else. I don't preach with a plan, outline, agenda, or notes. I preach yielded to the Lord. And I ain't preaching no prosperity, fe...

DAILY INSPIRATION 12/13: Thinking About Forgiving

"I'm thinking about it," the woman told me. She was thinking about forgiving someone whose actions devastated her life and changed it forever. "That's all I can do right now."

This was progress. Ten minutes earlier, she almost exploded at the mere suggestion of forgiving the person. But still, she had not made a decision. She seemed to see this as a choice. A possibility. A maybe.

"You don't realize what this person did to my life," she told me. "You wouldn't forgive this person," she added.

"Ye...
