Running for Light - DAILY INSPIRATION

A patchwork quilt of sunlight, blotches of shades of light, patterned across the property, warm where light is, winter South Carolina cold where shade and shadows hover, works its way throughout afternoon across land as the pack of mostly special needs and senior rescued dogs find their warm light. Why, when light breaks forth, do we humans clutch our hands around our hearts in darkness, fooling ourselves into believing that sins in the darkness will not come one day into light? Why do we not...

Gift Giver, Gift Robber - BIBLE TAKEOUT 1/16

One gives gifts. One steals them away. One is the greatest giver of all. One is the greatest thief of all. One offers eternal life in heaven. One offers eternal death in hell. One came so we could live life more abundantly. One exists to steal it all away. Which one has your heart? Which one has your mind? Which one has your attention? Which one has your focus? Which one do you serve? The Giver or the Robber? The Lord God almighty? Or the one who's robbing it all away? Whose servant are you?...

Five Big Bad "D" Words - DAILY INSPIRATION 1/16

If you think the "F" word is the worst of bad words, think again. I speak from experience. I used to have the foulest mouth imaginable, but the "F" word that spewed forth from my mouth more than I care to recall was nothing compared with the five big "D" words that could take a human straight to the grave - let alone hell. Ready for the 5 big "D" words? Check them out.

1. The Devil

I once sat with a beloved elderly friend who lovingly tried to explain to me that there the devil is real. I polit...

The Homeless Have Hearts - DAILY INSPIRATION 1/16

The homeless have hearts, don't they? I used to see scraggly beards. And smelly dirty bodies. I walked over, or around, old men with cardboard signs stationed at street corners earning their day's coins. I stared at shopping carts being driven by unlicensed drivers - skinny ladies in baggy clothing steering their suitcases, their shopping carts jammed with their sole belongings. Liquor breath, downtrodden bodies, old army boots stuffed on weary feet.

Forgotten Dreams - DAILY INSPIRATION 1/15

"I don't have any dreams," the homeless woman told me.

I didn't want to push her, so I didn't. I just kept talking to her, prompting her, encouraging her. Okay, maybe pushing her a little. I'm a pusher by nature, admittedly. I've done lots of the wrong kind of pushing. Now I like to help push people forward. It's too easy to get stuck in places we're not supposed to be when God has something so much better, brighter, beautiful.

Not too much longer into our conversation, something somewhat surpr...

Paralyzed Dogs, Disabled Dogs, & More - UPDATE!

Nothing like 18 mostly special needs and senior rescued dogs to keep me on my toes, and given this is only one small part of Walk by Faith Ministry which I direct with no staff or regular volunteers, you can only imagine I don't always do the best job of keeping everyone up to date with what's going on. So when one of paralyzed dog Miss Molly's two wonderful sponsors reached out to me by e-mail to ask how Miss Molly is, I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to let everyone know what's...

The Wrong Well: DAILY INSPIRATION 1/13/2014

I stood at the bathroom sink slowly brushing my teeth, dazed. What's wrong with me? I asked the Lord. Why can't I hear you today? Why do I feel like this? I was numb today at times. And sad when I wasn't numb. No joy. As I continued brushing my teeth, frustrated at the lack of response from the Lord though I sought Him, what I studied this morning came back to me. The woman at the well. And then I saw what happened to me today. I had stood at the wrong well. I repented, finished brushing my t...

THE HOMELESS DREAM - A Short Story

This SHORT STORY debuts the brand new FAITH FICTION from WALK BY FAITH MINISTRY and is very lovingly dedicated to all my many beloved homeless friends in Savannah, GA, and beyond.
Once upon a time there was a HOMELESS DREAM. This was not somebody's dream about helping homeless people, nor was it anybody's dream about helping homeless dogs. This was truly a DREAM that was really HOMELESS. For no matter how hard the HOMELESS DREAM searched, and no matter how long the HOMELESS DREAM looked,...

CHRIST'S CONTINGENCY - DAILY INSPIRATION

The first time I heard of a contingency plan, I was a child. I was told of a buyer who would only purchase a home if and when the buyer's own home sold first. The entire deal was based on a contingency. Little did I know I would spend the next several decades living a contingent life. Little did I know at that unripe young age how much of a contingent world this is. Not so very long ago, God opened wide my eyes and heart and showed me that a true follower of Jesus Christ is called to give up...

MESSAGE FROM GOD - Daily Inspiration 1/9

When God spoke to me this morning, I had a sense the message was not just for me. If this message is for you also, I pray He transforms your life through it. The Bible is clear God speaks to His people. Always test what you believe you hear with God's Word. If it is not in line with God's Word, and cannot be backed up by His Word, it is not from Him. God will not speak against His own Word. The Bible says to test every spirit (1 John 4:1).

I know how much you long to be loved. Do not tur...
