Feeling Distracted?

Loving and serving the Lord with all our hearts comes with challenges what with the devil desperately trying to wreck our relationships with the Lord, to dampen and even quench our love for Him, and to wreak havoc on our service to Him. Time and again, in my own journey following Jesus and in hearing numerous Jesus followers share with me their own experiences, I have found the devil absolutely loves to attack our love for and service to God through distractions.

If the devil can distract us fro...

Feel Like Quitting?

Ever felt like quitting? Giving up? On something? Or someone? On God’s calling for your life? Maybe on everything? On life altogether? Oh I can relate to ALL of this! I have experienced it all over the years! And, praise God, I have found the one right – and wonderful and beautiful – answer which I share with you now.

The Lord Jesus Christ, a forever relationship with Him, the Holy Spirit living inside His followers, the Bible, turning to God and His ways, refusing to give up no matter what on G...

No Time for God

I am shocked and heartbroken that it seems so many people make little or no time for God. And when they do make time for God, they seem to squeeze Him into and confine Him to little slots of time in calendar books and agendas like He is nothing but yet another thing to accomplish on one’s to-do list. I did this for a long time – until God set me straight!

God is to be our first love, our highest priority, our greatest desire, and He is Lord, King, Savior, healer, redeemer, master, and Father in ...

The Ultimate Letting Go

The ultimate letting go, I believe, is when we let something or someone go in obedience to God EVEN WHEN WE DON’T HAVE A PLAN B. EVEN WHEN WE DON’T HAVE A BACKUP PLAN. EVEN WHEN WE DON’T KNOW HOW GOD WILL PROVIDE. EVEN WHEN WE CAN’T SEE WHAT’S DOWN THE ROAD AHEAD. Why is this the ultimate letting go? First, loving God as we are commanded to do always should go hand-in-hand with obeying God. Second, loving God and trusting God should always go hand-in-hand. And, when we trust God, we don’t need t...

Christ Containers

“…I am your vessel. Help me to do whatever you want,” I prayed silently to the Lord.

I knew God would give me what I prayed for because I was praying according to His will.

“And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us: And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.” 1 John 5:14-15 KJV

How did I know I was praying according to His will?

“But in a great house there are ...

Dying to Love

This may seem totally unimaginable and entirely inconceivable let alone wholly impossible, but truth is it takes dying to love the way God calls us to love. The ultimate and greatest act of dying to love ever was Jesus’ death and resurrection whereby He died on the cross to pay our sin penalty and was raised from the dead to pave the way for us to have the opportunity to have a forever love relationship with God we could not otherwise have. But dying to love doesn’t stop at Jesus’ death and resu...

I’m So in Love!

If there is one thing my mother could never forget about my youth, it is how often I proclaimed to her and the family and the world, “I’m so in love!” My Mom may have enjoyed how thrillingly ecstatically over-the-top happy I was to make my big announcements that I was “so in love” with yet another young man, but my beloved Mom had to deal with the unbelievably exceedingly terribly awful crashes and falls and downheartedness and depression I experienced when my “so in love” feelings were not met ...

Enjoy Each Day!

Know what the Holy Spirit spoke to my heart as I was taking a wonderful long and hot walk with the Lord doing my usual praying, praising Him, singing to Him, seeking Him, and thinking about this or that along the way?

“Enjoy each day,” He told me.

Now let me be clear. God has blessed me immeasurably throughout my life, but truth is I’ve had a pretty challenging life and have struggled through most of it thus far. And the idea of enjoying each day has been pretty foreign to me as I have always ha...

Not Feeling Loved?

Ever not felt loved? Not feeling loved now? Friend, you might not believe how much of my life I have not felt loved. Some people face a little rejection in life. Some face a moderate amount. Some experience so much rejection so much of the time they hardly know what it’s like to not feel the hurt and sting and endure the wounds of rejection. I have faced tons of rejection in my life and still face it on an ongoing basis. Not feeling loved hurts a whole awful lot, doesn’t it? Sometimes it even fe...

Happy Squirrel Story

I was sitting outside my hotel room feeling utterly exhausted, terribly worn down, mulling over the latest stressful situation in my life caused by others’ choices, feeling wiped out by my own thoughts, realizing yet again how I continue to allow fear and anxiety to work themselves into my heart, when God gave me a beautiful gift. A loving reminder. A joyful blessing. A squirrel came scurrying down an exterior hallway, ran at top squirrely speed past me, and gladly, gleefully, happily, ebullient...
