Fear by Khalil Gibran: My Hindi Translation
कहते हैं कि समंदर में दाखिल होने से ठीक पहले
एक नदी डर से काँप उठती है।
वो पीछे मुड़कर उस रहगुज़र को देखती है
जिसपर वो चलकर आयी है;
क्योंकि तब जाकर उसका डर खत्म होगा;
क्योंकि तब ही वो य...

एक चुटकी प्यार...(A story by Namrata, Translated by Tarang)
So, it's Namrata's birthday. She's a writer, reader, editor and a dear (and my first virtual) friend. We met in 2011/2012, I think, through our blogs, however we haven't met yet. :)
Today, I'm posting one of her short stories, 'A Pinch of Love (from her short story collection, Metro Diaries 2) that I translated into Hindi. Thank you, N, for allowing me to translate your lovely story. And happy birthday! 🌻
'अम्मा…उप्पू…’ (माँ…नमक!)
पद्मा डायनिंग टेबल पर से ही चिल्लाई। फिर अपने उबलते...

Painting Nature...
Acrylic Painting on a canvas sheet
It's an intuitive painting (most of my paintings are), as I had no idea what I was going to paint. I painted after a long break and was obviously struggling. For several days, I kept looking at the messed up background on the canvas. And the struggle was a harsh reminder: don't take a long break. When you stop practicing, you lose command. Also, half finished works are not supposed to look great. Finish it, before you analyse/judge.
I am a nature painter; I paint...

Storytelling in Nonfiction: BlogchatterWritFest
If you want to engage someone, tell them stories.
Nonfiction is not really my favourite genre, but I believe including real life experiences and anecdotes makes them more interesting and engaging. There are very few nonfiction books that I like, and I liked them for their storytelling. I always feel, storytelling is more important than the story.
Blogchatter is conducting its 7th season of WritFest, a wonderful writing festival. So, when they announced their session on Storytelling in Nonfiction...

Books: Love Virtually and Every Seventh Wave
Love Virtually and Every Seventh Wave: Written by Daniel Glattauer. Translated (from German) by Katharina Bielenberg and Jamie Bulloch.
It's one of my favourite quotations, from one of my favourite books. I posted it on Twitter recently, and just like that, I picked Love Virtually and began re-reading it.
I read it first in 2016, without any expectation, to be honest. Because the epistolary form of writing was a new concept for me. But I read and loved it and it made me restless because I had no...

Book Review: Let Him In by William Friend

First thing that attracted my attention was this stunning cover of the book. And then the blurb, of course.
'Daddy, there’s a man in our room.'
Alfie's twin daughters tell him one day. Are they telling the truth or are they hallucinating or just making up stories just to deal with grief and anxiety?
Let Him In by William Friend (Published by Poisoned Pen Press ―they publish wonderful mysteries) is the story of an old mysterious house ―Hart House, and of course, of the people who live and have live...

Books 2023: What I liked (So Far) and My TBR List
For me, currently, it's a bad reading phase. I won't call it reader's block because I believe if you're not able to read a book, it simply means that the book you're reading is not entertaining enough.
I have an annoying habit: I can't finish a book if it doesn't grip me by 50-60 pages. So, these days my 'number of books I left unfinished' is more than 'number of books I read'. So, I just quietly removed those books from my goodreads reading list/Kindle.
But I'm not here to crib about the books ...
